The massive casualties among their kind only made the Alien Insect Race even more frenzied, sacrificing their lives even more readily in their charge.
The pressure on Andrew and the others' defenses increased greatly.
Chen Gu could now boldly observe the Alien Insect Race army outside the cave, as the entrance was currently shielded by the massive corpse of a Blazing Mammoth Bug, protecting him from direct attack.

At the foot of the mountain, the Insect Race was now extremely crowded. Several groups had even split off, attempting to flank the humans from different directions for a pincer attack.
Chen Gu didn't rush to engage. Crouching low, he moved behind the insect-corpse defense line. While efficiently shooting down bugs, he silently activated the Sonic Fork.

The human race had long ago concluded that the vast armies of the Insect Race were commanded through ultrasonic waves. They weren't commanded solely by ultrasonic waves; other methods, such as scents, likely played a role as well. But ultrasonic waves were their preferred mode of communication.
The Sonic Fork interfered with their command system!
The Insect Queen relayed commands to the frontline combat troops, which were then passed down by some special insects within the units using sonic waves.
Exactly which type of special insect carried out this role is something the human race has yet to definitively identify.
