Atlas stepped out of the tent, still adjusting his clothes, his mind spinning with questions he had no answers to.
Morganna was still asleep inside.
Though they’d been under a blanket, he couldn’t shake the feeling that she had been wearing far less than she had the night before. And him? He’d woken up completely naked.
Just what the hell happened last night?
He checked his neck. No new bite marks. His hands? Normal. No signs of transformation. His skin was still warm, still fully human. He even felt his throat and chest, noting that his body didn’t just feel fine. It felt incredible.
I feel like I could run around this island a hundred times, he thought, amazed by the burst of energy flowing through him.
Then, cautiously... he looked down.
It’s... more tense than usual.
No. It’s normal. Totally normal.
It’s just the morning. Nothing weird.
No! What am I even thinking?!
He shook his head quickly, trying to clear out the chaotic thoughts.
Atlas tried to recall the night. He remembered entering the tent. He was exhausted. He went to sleep. So why did it feel like... he’d let Morganna in? Did he actually do that?
Seriously? I just collapsed the moment I hit the mattress, didn’t I?
He rubbed his face, groaning quietly to himself. He had no idea what happened, and he sure wasn’t about to ask her.
But still...
Damn.
His chaotic thoughts screeched to a halt when he finally took in his surroundings.
The barren, sandy ground that had stretched endlessly yesterday... was gone.
In its place lay a carpet of soft, vibrant grass, swaying gently in the morning breeze. Blossoms had sprouted here and there. Small wildflowers painting the land with unexpected color.
What the...?
Atlas’s gaze swept across the area until he spotted Karian and Edrik at the far end of the island. What are they doing over there? he wondered.
But even that didn’t compare to the true surprise waiting nearby.
His eyes shifted toward the spot where the Aqua Crystal had been placed the day before.
The ground that had been dry and cracked was now transformed. A crystal-clear pond glistened in the soft glow of morning.
Edrik and Karian walked up with wide, satisfied smiles.
"My Lord, I hope you had a restful night," Edrik said with polite cheer.
Atlas narrowed his eyes, suddenly suspicious.
Do they know something?Did they hear... anything?
"Edrik," he said slowly, "can you tell me something—"
"I dug around this area and shaped it into a proper pond," Karian interrupted quickly, speaking up before Atlas could finish.
"Yes!" Atlas replied a bit too fast, still caught off guard by everything. He crouched by the edge of the pond, cupping some of the water in his hands. The coolness hit him instantly as he splashed it across his face.
"Oh my goodness... this water is so fresh, so clean."
As Atlas savored the crisp splash of cool water against his face, he noticed Edrik and Karian’s focus had shifted. Their eyes were no longer on the pond.
Following their gaze, Atlas turned, and there she was.
Morganna stepped out of the tent, once again dressed in her elegant dark gown. Her expression was unreadable as she glanced briefly in their direction, not saying a word.
She carried a drink bottle in one hand and a snack in the other, making her way over to one of the camping chairs. Without so much as a second glance, she sat down and began eating casually, sipping from her bottle like it was just another ordinary morning.
Does she not remember anything either?
Why is she acting like nothing happened?
Before he could dwell on it any further, Edrik spoke again, pulling him out of his spiral.
"My Lord. The fortress."
Only then did Atlas turn his attention toward the structure looming behind the tent. He had noticed it earlier, but hadn’t really taken in the details.
Now he did.
The Outpost Fortress stood proud, modest in size but commanding in presence. Its tall walls were constructed from smooth, dark-gray stone that looked almost freshly carved. A single, solid watchtower rose in the center, overlooking the island like a silent guardian.
Atlas rose to his feet, taking in the full view.
It wasn’t grand... yet. But it was real. Solid. And it was his.
"I want to check the inside," Atlas said, and Edrik and Karian followed without a word.
He stepped through the fortress gate and into the interior, entering a spacious open courtyard. Large enough to serve multiple purposes. It could hold tents, become a training area, or be adapted for storage, all safely enclosed by the thick, sturdy stone walls.
To one side, a more prominent structure stood. A three-story building made of the same smooth, dark-gray stone. It looked more refined, clearly designed for practical use.
Atlas walked into one of the rooms. Inside, there were several chairs and tables arranged in a simple but functional setup. He continued to another room, this one mostly empty except for several large chests stacked neatly in the corners.
"My Lord, we can store items in those Inventory Chests," Edrik explained from behind him.
"So, are these linked to the same inventory I can access through the system?" Atlas asked, running his fingers along one of the chests.
"Correct, My Lord. Anything placed in them is shared with your system storage."
Atlas nodded in approval and moved on, heading up the stairs to the second floor. The next room appeared to be a control center.
Finally, he ascended the narrow staircase to the very top of the watchtower.
The view took his breath away.
From up there, he could see the entire island: the vibrant green fields, the glistening pond, the tent near the center, and Morganna, seated calmly.
"Remarkable," he murmured.
But there was still something tugging at the back of Atlas’s mind. He hadn’t checked the system notifications he’d received after waking up.
With everything that had happened, the confusion, Morganna, the fortress, had slipped past him. Now, standing atop the watchtower with the wind brushing past him, he opened the system menu and began scrolling through the backlog.

"Ah... finally."
He could now build more structures, actual facilities that could support his team, expand their operations, and turn this floating island into something real. And more importantly, he could finally create proper housing. No more sleeping in tents or makeshift shelters.

[New Task: Design your Emblem.]

[You have received 500 Gold.]
Then the most important ones appeared.

[You can further develop your island and expand it by fulfilling certain requirements.]
[You have unlocked the Resource Detection Scanner.]
Atlas read through the notifications one by one. It was a lot to take in, but he managed to condense it into a few key takeaways: several new structures ready to be built, a handful of tasks like naming the island, designing their attire and emblem, and some pretty generous resource bonuses.
Arcane Shards? He wasn’t sure what they did yet.
And 500 Gold? He had no idea how much that was worth here.
Then there were the bigger features, Island Management and the Resource Detection Scanner.
I’ll figure those out later.
But first, he had a more pressing task.
The name.
He summoned the system interface again, a blank input field waiting for him to define this place. His mind wandered back to the nature of everything he’d acquired so far.
Something that fits the heart of it all... gacha.
After a moment of thought, he typed it in.
[Congratulations! You have named your Floating Island: Gacha Haven.]
A satisfied smile spread across his face as the notification appeared in bold letters. Nearby, Edrik and Karian both noticed the change in his expression.
"My Lord, that’s a unique name," Edrik said. "It directly reflects the distinct nature of our floating island. I like the idea."
Karian blinked, clearly confused. "I’m not familiar with this term... gacha?"
Edrik smirked, glancing sideways at him. "Your world must be incredibly boring. What kind of place doesn’t even know what gacha is?"
Atlas chuckled. "Don’t worry, Karian. You’ll catch on soon enough. But for now, we’ve got work to do. Help me design our team attire and the island’s emblem."
