“Boss!! It’s confirmed that the blood sample we collected also has Liara's blood in it." Tyler informed Colton. "Not just that, we examined how all those four vampires were killed. Out of them, two were killed by some bigger size wolf. The claws mark on their face and body is bigger than any normal werewolves."
"Hmm!!" Colton Haysbert nodded and was watching a glimpse of something silver in the CCTV camera footage that his hunters had installed at a couple of places in the forest. No matter how much zoom he used tried to do; he couldn't see what it was. It was obvious that the speed of the creature was really superhuman, so the camera couldn't record it properly. Changing the VPN of his brother's pack, Calvin Haysbert's pack, he tried to find something about this silver thing. He never read or knew that there was a silver wolf too.
And finally found something that he was looking for, but then the date and time were somewhere else, not around Ever Green Pack and the worst part was he recognized that the picture was picked up from the internet and was photoshopped.
He kept that news aside and dialed his Grandpa's number, Logan Haysbert, the Main Leader of Hunter's group.
"Hello, Grandpa. Do you know anything about Silver Moon Pack?" He asked.
"No. Never heard that name before."
"Anyone who can tell me about this pack and the incidence that happened around a hundred years back?"
"Either witches or vampires or werewolves, who are more than a hundred years old. You know how to find the truth. It might take time, but you know the way, don't you?" Logan Haysbert guided his grandson like a mentor. "I don't know what you're up to, but try not to harm any innocent."
"Thank you, Grandpa." Colton ended the call and dialed his brother-in-law's number. "I need to know who is that anonymous person who gave that fake news about Silver Moon Pack to that reporter."
"How can I..."
"Artemis, pay whatever amount that is required to pay because I need to reach the person who gave this fake information. I'm busy with something else. That's why I'm expecting this from you." Colton said, cutting his in between.
"But why? What happened?" Artemis asked, trying to act normal because he knew that Liara was behind everything and he was the one who was covering up for her. But at the same time, he also knew that if he would say NO, then Colton would get this work done by someone else, but he wouldn't rest in peace until he would reach the truth.
"I don't need to tell you about that," Colton said rudely. "If you have any problem, then I can get this done from someone else," he added. Artemis ignored his rudeness because he knew how his brother-in-law was.
"Fine. Give me a week."
"TWO DAYS." Colton corrected it. He didn't have so much time to waste. Artemis's wolf fumed in a temper, but Artemis calmed him down.
"Okay. Consider it done." Artemis said, and the call got disconnected in the next second. He took a deep breath and looked at the face of her pups who were playing in front of him. It helped him to calm down his anger perfectly, and he wondered what now? "Regina!!" He called Caroline, who was in the kitchen, preparing the dinner.
"Just ten minutes more. And the dinner is ready." She replied back in a loud tone. Artemis didn't wait for her arrival and joined her in the kitchen. He hugged her behind her back while she was busy cooking. "What happened?" She asked, sensing his mood. She didn't care to hear what and to whom he was talking.
"Your brother."
"Oh! So, it was Colton's call." She muttered before asking, "What did he say?"
Artemis narrated everything to her and kissed her sweet spot.
"Tell him the truth, simple as that," Caroline replied calmly. "No matter what, Colton will find the truth. So, tell him what he wants to know but hide the part that we know more than that. Act that you're equally surprised by all this information as he will. I will inform Lee about it so that she will be prepared for what is coming for her."
"Do you think that she can handle Colton's question?" Artemis asked, getting worried.
"I don't know, but if her mate is really someone whom our family members won't approve and even after knowing this, she hadn't rejected him, then I guess she should be ready to face all the things that hadn't happened before. And why are you getting worried? Colton is family too. He is rude, stick, and possessive for Lee and might act like a villain in her love story, but his intention for her can never be wrong."
"But I will always stand with Lee. No matter what." Artemis mumbled. "I know how your family members are when they come to their princess's mate."
"Arti.."
"What, Arti? Your dad and your brothers want THE BEST for Tee or Lee. But no one is THE BEST from the mother's womb. If Lee dares to choose some imperfections in her life, then I will support her."
"Did I ever say that you're THE BEST mate in the world?" Caroline asked, turning off the knob of the stove. She turned around and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Today? Nah!!" Artemis chuckled before adding, "But I will take that question as a compliment." With this, he kissed her passionately.
"Do you play soccer?" Caroline probed, but Artemis laughed, knowing what was coming next.
"No. Why?" He answered, shaking his head.
"Because you're a keeper!!" Artemis grinned, hearing this. After all, his mate learned to throw pick-up lines on him.

Caroline tried to call Liara later at night, but it was switched off. She thought to call her tomorrow, on Sunday morning, thinking she might be studying, that was why her phone was switched off. The response was no different, even the next day in the morning. Since Caroline had a plan with her family for a picnic, she didn't check on Liara again until night.
