“Don’t tell this in front of dad, or he will start praying to bless us with a girl to take revenge on you.” Liara giggled, but soon she realized their current situation.
“I want you to promise me something,” Theodore said, changing the topic and holding her hand. “Ever in the future, if I will ask you to leave, then you will leave instead of jumping in front of danger.” All of a sudden, Liara pulled her hand away from his grip and gave him a ‘are you kidding me’ look.
“Promise me, Lia. You always listen to me like a good girl, except for a couple of things when it comes to your life.” Liara shook her head, not agreeing with him. This was something that wasn’t in her hand. She just couldn’t run away even after knowing that his life was in danger.
“Lia, promise me!!”
“No!!”
“Fine!! At least till you’re pregnant.”
“No.”
“Why?”
“I don’t want to make a promise that I can’t keep.”
“Why are you so stubborn sometimes? Put an end to this by giving me what I want.” Theodore said, getting irritated by her behavior, “Griffin could have died if I wouldn’t take that attack on myself.” he pointed out, raising his voice.
“AND YOU COULD HAVE DIED IF I WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN THERE.” Liara snapped at him angrily. “I love you, Theodore Wayne. I can handle any pain, even the pain of losing our pup, if that is required to save you. I can spend my whole life with a pup, but I can’t spend a day with the thought of not having you in my life.”
“I can’t make any stupid promises like this because I know I will jump in front of danger again and again but I’m not leaving you alone. Hell, I can even sacrifice myself just to keep you safe.” With that, Liara started crying. She was scared for their future, too, just like Theodore. Just like him, she didn't want to lose him.
“Please don’t say anything like that,” Theodore whispered, wiping her tears.
“Then stop forcing me to do anything that I don’t want to do,” Liara complained. “I’m not a pup who needs security all the time. I’m a big girl now and handle myself on my own. Those days are long gone when I used to stutter while speaking.”
Theodore sighed and realized his mistake. Because if he would have been in her shoe, then he would have done the same. “I love you too.”
“That is it? You don’t have to say anything else?” Liara muttered, eyeing him suspiciously.
“Nah. Nothing,” Theodore said and leaned toward her to kiss her forehead. “You fought bravely. The important part is still a question that how you could use magic and your eyes… even that was glowing blue like… like Selene.”
“Long story.”
“I have all ears, but then you must eat something first,” Theodore spoke, and hearing about the food, Liara’s stomach growled loudly, telling both of them that she was hungry. Liara blushed, and Theodore chuckled. “For now, eat for the hospital canteen; we will eat something of your choice later, okay?” Liara agreed even though she didn’t want to eat from the hospital canteen.
When Theodore left the room to get food for her, Alaric walked in with a big smile on his face and holding his jaw at the same time. “Hey Mama Liara, you scared everyone.”
“Hey, Alaric!!” Liara smiled and saw his red skin because of the tight punch that Theodore might have thrown at him. “Thank you for taking take of him in my absence.”
“Ah. No worries. That’s what friends do.” He spoke, shrugging his shoulder.
“So, what exactly happened?” She asked, to which Alaric started telling her how they had Moana at his Coven. So, he arrived at Black Council the next morning with her to drop her off as he got to know about the mess that happened last night from Ambrose Wayne.
“I went to check on Beasty, who was worried sick and lost holding you in his arms. He was calling you repeatedly, but you were not responding. I have never seen this broken ever in my life. No matter how hard we both tried, you didn’t open your eyes. So, he took you to your hospital, but your juniors couldn’t detect anything wrong with you. I had to stop him from killing them as he was literally behaving like crazy. After that, we came here to Elite Hospital, and the doctors said the same thing. So, I had to fool him. I didn’t have thought that he would believe my stupid story.”
“But then love can make anyone do anything.” Alaric grinned, and Liara felt bad that she tortured Theodore to this extent.
Meanwhile, Theodore informed Ambrose about Liara’s condition. He felt like he was over the moon, and the happiness that he shared with Alaric after punching him wasn’t enough. He knew that there were a couple of people more who were equally worried for them.
“I told you that just because she used a lot of her energy, she fell into a deep sleep.”
“You did?” Theodore wondered when? But then he wasn’t in his sense this whole time.
