She was trembling in excitement from seeing such a brutal and unknown side of Tyler. Not even in a million years did she imagine that he was hiding so much from her. And he was actually . Tyler even told her that he couldn’t do anything with his hacking ability. Yet, the damn bastard goes on to do this.
She could barely contain herself from letting out a maddening laugh. But then suddenly a figure materialised right in front of her and said to her, chuckling in amusement, “He’s coming out. You might want to move away.”
Sophia’s excited expression immediately vanished seeing that figure, her eyes turned icy cold, her face became expressionless, but the figure didn’t mind and leaned closer, and whispered into her ears, “Unless you want your man to see what an absolutely sadistic, murderous, and psychopathic bitch you are in reality.”
The figure tilted her head slightly, then added in wonder, “But I am indeed curious what a horrifying expression he would have when he learns the truth about you.”
Sophia gritted her teeth, but the sounds of footsteps grew louder and closer.
The Valkyrie’s eyes shot wide open as she instantly sat up from her bed, her chest rose and fell, and her breathing was ragged, unnatural. Her entire body was sweaty, and she felt her body shiver. A mix of heavy tension, fear, excitement, and hope was swirling through her mind.
Like a spider web that has been jumbled up, and a spider that has been tied up in its own web. But was it by mistake, or the machinations of a third party? Or maybe it was her own, she didn’t know, and no one did.
She clenched her fists, thinking about the memory she had just seen. Her mind trembled as she thought about that sweet memory; her lips involuntarily curved into a smile just thinking about him, the only thing in the world, the only one in the world she had ever cared about.
Ever since she first came out of the trial, her memories had been hazy, as if a thick layer of fog was blocking them. The terrifying part was that she didn’t even know that her memories were missing. She thought she knew what she had gone through in the trial. But she was so very wrong.
Ever since she had that meeting with Axel Nomrad, for the request of a runic weapon, she had begun to change, as if something had unlocked in her mind; his existence, in a way, started to overlap with someone she held most dear in her heart. That was the reason for her apparent outburst and mixed emotions, as well as the things she said to him.
The reason she told him that he was a murderer, just like herself, was to reveal his true nature, so that his existence would not overlap with Tyler’s anymore. But now, she wasn’t so sure anymore, considering what she had witnessed, that if he did accept his true nature, he would seem even more like Tyler. Even the reason she revealed the information about her curse of beauty was because she found her guard drop unconsciously, under the gaze of those ocean blue eyes.
And the reason she regarded him as a bug in her mind was because of the intense, uncomfortable confusion that permeated her entire being. However, things truly took a turn for the worse when Axel Nomrad confronted her while she was assigning everyone their roles. How he stood before her, with those defiant ocean blue eyes and that gaze, it was at that very moment, as if some switch had been flipped in her mind.
The memory of the very last message that Prime Nexus showed her at the end of her trial was revealed; she could still remember how the glyph letters flashed in bright red, as if they were dripping with blood instead of their usual ash-like colour.

But she only ever had one wish; an impossible hope began to rise from her, wanting to be with him in this world, seeing Tyler in the eyes of Axel Nomrad. But she crushed that hope, dismissing it entirely. But hope was the most vile poison of them all; her heart, which was already dead, began to beat louder and louder. The twisted, dark desire in her intensified, which is why her understanding of the darkness deepened even further.
Ever since then, she would recover bits and pieces of her memories of what she went through during the trial. Most of it was jumbled and unfamiliar, as if seeing the life of someone else.
But from time to time, she would see parts of her own life back on earth, and yet she was different. She acted differently from how she was supposed to be back then. But she wasn’t sure; she was now so different from her pre-summoned self. She hardly remembered anything except for the memories of Tyler. Only his memories remained as fresh as they had been yesterday.
And now this new memory she saw today. This only made her resolve weaker. Just what was the meaning of all this? Was it trying to give her hope again?
She let out a bitter and sarcastic laugh. She laughed even louder in her silent room, as the shadows flickered and grew deeper, signalling the haunting and despair-filled laughter of their master.
However, her laughter suddenly stopped as she gritted her teeth, a twisted expression appeared on her face as she uttered in a drowning whisper, “Why are you giving me hope? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? WHY AGAIN?”
She continued to mutter to herself as her voice grew lower and lower, two small trickles of tears fell from both of her eyes, and her words became incomprehensible. But the darkness in the room continued to grow deeper and more sinister, until there was not a single shred of light left in her entire apartment.
The man in question was unaware of the tsunami-like turmoil unfolding in the heart of the valkyrie.
He was having an important meeting of his own. Enrick Samartan, the renowned prince of the Samartan great kingdom, and Axel were having a private meeting in a specific 1st area of the beast forest, in the academy.
Enrick greeted him respectfully, “Runecaster Axel, thank you very much for coming, especially on such short notice.”
Axel smiled, “Oh, don’t worry about it. So, what was the reason you asked for me?”
Enrick was about to respond, but Axel cut him off, “It is most likely your section and mine would be facing off in the final, so this can’t be a possible attempt at kidnapping to eliminate one of the key fighters from the Gold Section in advance, right?”
Enrick almost wanted to cough up a mouthful of blood at the sound of that. Still, he was unable to physically do that without actually being injured, so he looked at Axel speechlessly, seeing him turn utterly baffled like that.
Axel chuckled, “Oh, please, I was joking, I just sensed you were too tense. So…”
Enrick coughed and said, “I’m actually here to cash in that favour.”
Axel raised an eyebrow at that, “Oh, and what might that be?”
Enrick hesitated for a moment and eventually revealed in a grim tone, “I want to buy runic weapons for everyone in my section.”
Axel nodded to that with a smile, “Well, I did expect something like that; my weapons could indeed be used as a proper trump card to turn the tables on the enemy.”
