Chapter 139: Strange Rumors
Soon, the door opened after a minute, it seems Lumina was doing some tinkering on her own, some of the bystander other students gave them strange looks, seeing how Axel was entering in a engravement room with Lumina already in there, and some of the female students actually saw what happened between Lumina and Axel yesterday, how they were hugging each other with sad and desperate looks on their faces. Their conversation did not leak as they had a sound barrier erected around them.
But for that particular situation it actually made it worse, just think about it, you see the second most handsome man in the academy and the 2nd most beautiful girl in the academy sitting on a bench in a isolated place with a sound barrier erected around them, at first the girl talked in anger with the man, then she started tearing up as the man hugged her, then the man started tearing up talking about something, then it was the women who hugged him and consoled him like a baby.
Countless rumors had spread at this point, like they were in love with each other at first sight, but had to pretend to be friends, so that their relationship wouldn’t get revealed. Well, it was understandable, it was doubtful if the royal family would agree to it, the nomrad family currently was too small, unworthy of the princess’s hand.
Some others say that they fell in love with each other madly, but Prince Lucien, for being an obvious sis-con, threatened Axel and vehemently disapproved of their desire to be in a relationship. As such, it painted a rosy picture of Lumina and Axel being madly in love with each other and the princess’s brother Lucien becoming the big bad villain who intends to separate the two love birds.
Even though many girls from various backgrounds wanted to get close to Axel and enter a relationship with him, mostly to take advantage of him, they even felt it was kind of cruel of Prince Lucien to separate the two of them, who were madly in love. There were even more exotic rumor’s it made him shudder just thinking about it. He couldn’t believe how fast the rumors had spread to every single student and professor of the academy.
As for how he had come to know of all these rumors in that small window of time? It was Heinz, he had come to him at the middle of the night, the fucking son of a bitch laughed his ass off, pointing his finger at him. Every time he tried to speak to explain the situation, the bastard only laughed out louder. The dude laughed so much that tears fell from his eyes. Axel’s mouth continuously twitched as he simply kept looking at him with dead eyes. Heinz even found that gesture of his to be funny in itself.
In the end he left saying, he might die out of laughter, Axel remained there like a moron, he didn’t even get to say a single word to the guy, he just came, laughed his ass off and simply left. Axel gritted his teeth in frustration. He swore in his heart, he would get back at that bastard for this; he absolutely will.
He broke out of his thoughts, ignoring the weird expressions that everyone around was giving them, even Lumina herself became embarrassed, it seems she also heard about those rumors, he sighed and entered the engravement chamber.
Lumina, even though a bit embarrassed, stated exactly what was on her mind, “So, you heard the rumors as well.”
Axel stated with a shrug, “Yeah, I did hear it, I mean more like was informed of it and…made a literal joke out of that.”
Lumina raised one eyebrow. “By whom?”
Axel looked at her and said with some obvious hesitation, unable to keep it in any longer,
“Who else but that bastard Heinz?”
He added with gritted teeth, “I was even asleep and the guy kept banging on the door, woke me up from my deep sleep, then entered the room, with no warning whatsoever, he kept laughing at me without explaining the reason of it, can you believe how fucking pissed I was at that piece of shit, only after laughing his ass for the first 5 minutes did he tell the rumors that spread everywhere. But even then, he kept laughing hysterically in between.”
“Pfttttttt…..hahah ahahaha hahahaha…” Lumina burst out laughing herself, holding her stomach, hearing all that. Axel’s eyebrows twitched in severe annoyance seeing that, sigh, since when had he become the biggest joke of everyone?
He said mockingly, “You do know how Lucien is being painted as the bad perverted sis-con villain that is literally separating two lovers from getting together. The fairy tale kind of villain. Tsk tsk, he went from being the prince charming to the handsome and perverted villain.”
She stopped laughing abruptly and snorted back at him, “Hmph, my brother isn’t a pervert, in fact, believe me, he is a virgin. He hasn’t even kissed a girl yet. Well, I’ve never touched a man either. But he is a bit overprotective of me, I suppose.”
Axel remarked internally, ‘Yeah, I know he is a virgin. But that only makes him more of a sis-con, doesn’t it?’ But he tactfully chose not to say it out loud.
Axel said in genuine wonder, looking at the ceiling of the engravement room, “I wonder why that may be, though?”
She became enraged and started punching him again, “This bastard.”
Both of them were honestly unbothered by the rumors, while it was indeed a bit concerning, but since they were all false news anyway, it was more funny than be of any serious consequences, and there wasn’t even awkwardness between them as of now. After Axel told her everything, they became genuine friends.
They stopped their useless chatter and went on to the main discussion after a while. Axel started explaining to her calmly, but first, he asked a question,
“Do you remember the exact words I said?”
Lumina nodded as she recalled the words, “One indicates to existence, the other to non-existence, and the remainder indicates to Eternity, which is the cycle of endlessness between the first two.”
Axel asked her again, “And what was the original question that the professor asked?”
Lumina thought for a moment and answered, “He wanted to know the secret behind you being able to engrave actual rule-bending abilities as a mere 1st phase runeca…”
She couldn’t even finish her last words as the realization struck her like a thunderbolt. She mumbled in disbelief and let out a low curse, “You bastard, you didn’t ever answer the original question? You just introduced an entirely new and captivating topic, and made the whole class forget about their original issue.”
Axel shook his head and asked again, “No of course not, I might be able to fool the entire class with it but not the professor, what I talked about is indeed the answer to the original question, but not everyone can link it both, the topic about the 3 absolute runes became too interesting that it diverted everyone’s attention a bit too much, that is all. Maybe only Taser would realize the connection between both later on, and the professor could tell from right then and there. He probably would explain the link between both to everyone in the next class.”
