In the silence, Sed took a few steps toward Annie, opened his mouth and spoke: “Miss Annie…”
Annie extended one finger with her right hand, placing it vertically against her lips.
Annie blinked her long eyelashes twice and stepped forward, walking over the scorched black ground, to the corpse of the fallen Magic Knight Squad Leader, crouching down beside it.
The Squad Leader’s body was only half remaining, with large patches of charred skin on the surface. Annie gently touched the forehead with her hand, her lips moving ever so slightly as if whispering something unknown.
Then she stood up, glanced at Sed, and said in a slow and serious tone: “Give him a proper burial, with the highest honors!”
“Yes.” Sed lowered his head.
The surrounding Magic Knights all showed slight changes in expression, their gazes somewhat complex.
Annie walked to the side, approaching the unconscious captured Brown-eyed Wizard. The opponent lay limp on the ground, guarded by four Magic Knights. Annie lifted her foot and nudged him a few times, confirming his condition.
“Hey, this guy was that gray-eyed one’s companion, wasn’t he?” Annie asked, tilting her head.
“Yes, Miss Annie.” Sed replied.
“Good.” Annie nodded up and down several times, “Make sure he doesn’t die, wake him up later, use all your means to pry his mouth open. I want to know who exactly is behind them, what their purpose is, who else is involved apart from them. Once everything is clarified, then we deal with them all at once, but don’t let them die too painfully, understood?”
“Understood.” Sed responded.
“Good to know you understand.” Annie nodded forcefully, turning to face Sed, scrutinizing him up and down.
Sed opened his mouth: “Miss Annie, you…”
Annie extended her finger once more, placing it vertically against her lips.
Then she lowered her finger, her lips moving silently and swiftly as she recited a spell.

Red, gold, and blue lights flashed past, enveloping Annie’s body, giving it an ethereal look, making her appear much taller and stronger. It was as if she was no longer a rebellious dark Gothic girl but a goddess of war radiating with anger.
