Exploring Technology in a Wizard World Chapter 260

Chapter 260: Chapter 259 Pandora, you tell me, why did he go up to the rooftop?! Chapter 260: Chapter 259 Pandora, you tell me, why did he go up to the rooftop?! Richard found the reaction of the girls somewhat strange. He opened the book and flipped through it quickly, gaining some insight. The book was an autobiography of a male warlock, which described many unconventional spell tips. Moreover, it extensively discussed how to train one’s slave… ah, specifically male slaves. That was somewhat gruesome. Aside from the bizarre content, Richard couldn’t find anything special about the book and didn’t understand why it made the ancient ring heat up. What exactly was Old Marlon’s so-called secret of the White Stone Tower? And what was the connection between this book and the ancient ring? Richard pondered this as he walked back to the table where he had been reading, but he then noticed an extremely conspicuous muscular figure moving around, seemingly searching for someone. When the man saw Richard, he quickly approached and asked, “Have you seen Gro, Richard?” “No,” Richard shook his head, looking at Baki and asking, “Why? Do you need him for something?” “No,” Baki shook his head quickly. “Just asking, just asking… Isn’t he usually studying with you in the library?” “Ah, is that so? Well, I’ll go look for him somewhere else then,” Baki said as he started to leave, but suddenly his eyes caught a glimpse of something unbelievable and stared in astonishment at the book in Richard’s hand. “‘My Autobiography – Moratos’? Are you interested in this kind of book?” Baki’s expression turned weird, even stranger than the expression of the short girl earlier. “Do you know what’s in this book?” Richard asked Baki. “Ah… well…” Baki suddenly straightened up, scratching his head with a silly smile, “Ah, how would I know what’s in this book? I haven’t read it at all. Haha, yeah, not at all. Okay, I need to get going. Oh, and if you run into any trouble, remember to find me. I can help you solve it; after all, I still owe you two favors.” “Alright, then I’m off,” Baki hurried away. Richard’s eyes flickered, then he returned a pile of useless books to the shelf, holding onto the magic rune books and ‘My Autobiography – Moratos’ as he approached the service desk. After completing the borrowing procedure, he left the library. At night, in the laboratory. Richard walked back, pushed open the door to the main laboratory, and saw Pandora peacefully asleep on the bed, everything normal. But as he turned his head, he saw the floor covered in broken glass, some spots stained with blood. His heart tightened, and he quickly looked toward Gutas, only to find the chair binding Gutas completely empty. “Pandora!” Richard immediately called out. Pandora woke up with a start, rubbing her eyes and sitting up reluctantly, exclaiming, “Yikes!” “Where is he?” Richard pointed at the chair and asked, “Weren’t you supposed to watch him? How come he’s gone? Did he run off?” “He didn’t run,” mumbled Pandora. “Then where did he go?” Pandora didn’t respond, merely glancing briefly toward the ceiling. Richard looked up at the ceiling, then fell silent. After a moment, Richard seriously looked at Pandora and asked, “Please explain… how did a grown man fly up to the ceiling and get stuck there and not come down? Did the recent experiments and blood draws not weaken him but instead give him the ability to fly? “Um…” Pandora pursed her lips, showing a hint of laziness mixed with impatience, and explained, “He… disturbed my sleep…” Let’s rewind time a bit. Night had already fallen, and in the main laboratory, all was quiet. Pandora lay sleeping on the bed while Gutas was tightly bound to a chair, motionless. Yet if one looked closer, they would see that Gutas was actually making subtle movements. The hands tied behind his back were stiffly cutting the ropes with a tiny piece of glass—he had never given up on escaping, never stopped trying. In the extremely faint sound, Gutas struggled to cut through the ropes. Because of the limited range of motion, it took quite a while to even cut a little bit, but he was very patient. In fact, he had been secretly cutting the rope for a long time now. He didn’t think the ropes could be easily cut, but he could keep cutting as aside from that, there was nothing else he could do. One day would become two days, two days would become three, three days would become a year, or even ten years! He refused to believe that the rope was that thick. With that thought, there was a “snap” sound, and Gutas felt the rope binding him suddenly loosen—it was much thinner than he had imagined. With a “swoosh,” Gutas stood up, staring blankly for a moment, slightly at a loss. Then he took a deep breath, his emotions exceedingly intense. He checked the situation in the laboratory and confirmed that he was free. At that moment, he wanted to shout aloud, but suddenly, he blinked his eyes. Huh? Why does this feeling seem so familiar, so recognizable? Gutas frowned and thought for a bit but couldn’t figure it out. The next moment, he didn’t hesitate much and quickly walked toward the door. Halfway there, as he passed by a long table filled with various laboratory instruments, a vengeful impulse uncontrollably emerged, and he grabbed a glass bottle from the table and fiercely smashed it to the ground. The glass bottle shattered into pieces, and Gutas felt a sense of relief like never before. Now, the entire laboratory was his domain; he could destroy it however he wanted. After destroying everything, he could set it on fire and leave, and no one would be able to catch him. As Gutas thought this, he picked up the second glass bottle, preparing to smash it when he suddenly felt that something was off. Slowly turning around, he saw a little girl in a purple dress who had been sleeping on the bed, now standing up, rubbing her eyes, and looking at him furiously. “Put it down!” the little girl demanded, looking at the glass bottle in his hand. “Huh?” Gutas raised an eyebrow upon hearing this but didn’t follow the order. Instead, his mood became more violent: he had endured endless torture from that sinister Alchemist, and now a little girl, barely as tall as his chest, thought she could order him around? Delusional! Go to hell! The next moment, Gutas tossed the glass bottle directly at the little girl. Seconds later, Gutas, lying on the ground, regretted his decision a thousand times, ten thousand times. He thought, if he could do it over, he would definitely say four words: “Just—put—it—down!” But at the time of throwing the glass bottle, he didn’t think much, and shouted: “Shut up!” Right after the words left his mouth, he heard a “crash.” “Uh, did the glass bottle sadly shatter?” Gutas wondered. Then he became confused, “But why does the sound seem off? And why… why can’t I see clearly anymore, why does it feel like my body is lying on the ground, why is everything so painful?” As he was puzzled, Gutas experienced the sensation of flying, as his whole body was swung around and then violently smashed toward the ground. Once, twice, three times… The door to the main laboratory was opened, and Gutas, covered in blood, slowly crawled toward it, but before he could get halfway out, something inside the door grabbed his feet. “No!” Gutas screamed in terror, struggling desperately, tears streaming down his face, but it was all in vain as he was brutally dragged back inside. “Bang, bang, bang,” the noise sounded again. Finally, accompanied by a “thud,” the entire laboratory’s roof shook and then fell completely silent.
