Chapter 184: Chapter 183 Fury
Richard stepped forward to confront the tentacle.
The tentacle rested on the edge of the deck, approximately two meters in length but weighed hundreds of pounds.
As Richard approached, he observed the tentacle.
Calling it a tentacle was not entirely accurate—it was, in fact, more like the shorter tentacle of a squid, known as an arm. It didn’t have suction cups but was covered with hooks over ten centimeters long, similar to the modern Earth’s mutated Giant Gun Squid, or the Giant King Squid.
Richard touched the surface of the arm, feeling its extreme elasticity. He pushed against it while observing more details, trying to find the “something worth a giant squid’s relentless pursuit.”
By the time he pushed it to the end of the deck, Richard noticed what seemed like a thin thread wrapped around one of the hooks. Tugging at it, he drew out a segment of the thread covered in blood and mucus, with something entangled at its end.
“Is there really something hidden here?” Richard raised an eyebrow.
At that moment, it seemed that because he was too slow, Wizard Siv looked over with a frown.
Richard didn’t dare delay any further. He pushed the arm tissue towards the edge of the deck, and with one forceful shove, the arm tissue plunged into the sea.
As it plunged into the water, Richard yanked at the white thread hidden within the tentacle’s flesh, pulling out whatever was inside without a close inspection. He immediately stowed it into his Space Ring. He also used the “Absolute Cutting of Spatial Scissors” from the Space Ring to sever the hooked claw and a large piece of flesh attached to the white thread.
The arm tissue fell into the sea. Richard turned and gave Wizard Siv a respectful glance before quickly heading towards Nancy and Gro on the side.
Wizard Siv said nothing, simply waving a spell towards the sea. The water surged, lifting the arm tissue he had pushed over and sending it a hundred meters towards the giant squid. Soon, the Giant Squid ceased its pursuit of the ship, staying put as the giant vessel sailed quickly away, leaving the giant creature to disappear from everyone’s sight.
The people on the deck let out a sigh of relief, but the four wizards did not easily lower their guard, standing on the deck and continuing to peer into the darkness toward the direction of the Giant Squid.
“It seems that the Giant Squid was indeed chasing us because of its severed tentacle,” said Wizard Louis.
“So, after it got its tentacle back and realized we are not easy to mess with, it stopped chasing us?” Wizard Quinton was still not quite convinced, cautious.
“Let’s hope so,” Wizard Siv said, his eyes flashing, “Otherwise, if it chases us again, we don’t know what it will cost to deal with it.”
“If it really catches up with us, then no matter the cost, we must deal with it,” Dempsey’s voice had a sharp edge, “I refuse to believe that it’s just an ancient Giant Squid, how formidable can it be? If it weren’t for the concern of the ship, preventing us from going all out, I would have liked to take care of it earlier.”
“Alright then,” Dempsey turned to say, “It’s good if it doesn’t follow, and I can’t be bothered to deal with it further; let’s return to our cabins.”
“Mm,” the other three wizards nodded, following Dempsey toward the cabins on the deck.
One step, two steps… three steps!
On the third step, Dempsey’s footsteps suddenly grew heavier. He turned sharply, his gaze piercing the darkness like a knife, looking into the distance.
“What’s wrong?” the other three wizards asked, puzzled.
Dempsey blinked his eyes and then spoke without a trace of emotion as though he were simply stating a fact, “The ancient Giant Gun Squid has caught up.”
The expressions on Siv and the others were quite something to behold.
“It seems we’ve all been deceived by our opponent,” said Dempsey. “They were not afraid of us at all. Their performance just now was only to retrieve their lost tentacle and to paralyze us, setting us up for an ambush.”
After a pause, Dempsey’s voice turned colder, “Unfortunately, it made a mistake. The spell I used on it carried a special kind of energy within its body that allows me to know its exact location. So, no matter how well it hides, as soon as it approaches my sensing range, it will be locked onto by me. An ambush? Impossible!”
“So, how do we deal with it?” asked Wizard Siv.
“How else?” Dempsey countered, “I want to see if this ancient Giant Gun Squid can withstand the new spell I’ve only recently mastered.”
Dempsey did not continue speaking, but simply flipped his hand, revealing a glass tube the size of a finger in his palm, which contained a blood-red liquid.
Dempsey pulled out the stopper and drank the liquid in one go. His face instantly turned crimson, his temples bulged, and throbbed incessantly.
After drinking the potion, Dempsey flipped his hand again and another glass tube appeared in his palm, this time with a blue potion inside.
Dempsey pulled out the stopper and poured the liquid into his mouth, drank it down, and his body shuddered, his veins bulged out, and his entire expression grew ferocious.
Subsequently, Dempsey took out a third glass tube which contained a purple potion.
After drinking this purple potion, all the symptoms that Dempsey had shown earlier disappeared, and what followed was a surge of extremely strong aura bursting forth from his body.
Dempsey closed his eyes, then opened them again, and deep within his eyes shone with the brightness of thunder.
With one step, Dempsey’s feet already left the deck of the giant vessel, floating in mid-air. He turned his head to glance at Siv and the others, his voice hoarse, “You guys support me, help me keep the squid more than a kilometer away from the ship, while I… will use my magic to let it witness the true strength of a wizard.”
“Alright,” Siv and the rest agreed without further ado.
“Then let us go, I’ll lead the way,” said Dempsey, stepping out once more. His entire being turned into a streak of light, speeding into the darkness ahead.
Siv and the others immediately followed, flying into the darkness.
The deck quieted down, with many students and apprentices looking at each other before tiptoeing and stretching their necks to peer into the distance. However, the distance was pitch black, revealing nothing, leaving them only aware that the four wizards must be battling with the squid once again.
In the corner, Richard’s eyes flickered, and he thought to himself, “Could it be that the situation is ? The squid’s original intention was to return to the Bowlfoot organization, take the items in the Bowlfoot, and then leave. But because the items from the Bowlfoot were packed away by myself, the squid mistook it for the wizards’ doing and became angrily in pursuit.
“The squid’s behavior also provoked the wizards’ wrath, resulting in both sides resuming battle. Could this be considered a trap I’ve set for both parties? However… as long as I don’t reveal it, no one should know the reason behind it. After all, the squid can’t speak human language to explain.
