He was Leo, the second son of the chairman of the Iron Industries,

"I have a fucking academy entrance in a few weeks! I am relentlessly grinding for skill books from the dungeons of our family’s company, but the drop rate is so fucking low! And now this?!"
His frustration was palpable, a tangible heat in the frigid air.
Leo had been grinding the dungeons owned by his father’s company for weeks, specifically aiming to get stronger for the upcoming Guardian Academy entrance competition.
Being a B-rank hunter, he was always accompanied by a small, elite group of A-ranked bodyguards, led by Daisy, who ensured his safety and facilitated his hunts.

They had even travelled to the place specifically marked as the main Yeti tribe’s living area, a vast, ancient ice cavern known for its dense population of monsters.
To their utter surprise, almost every monster, including the formidable S-rank boss, was missing.
The cavern was eerily silent, devoid of the usual roars and grunts of the Yeti population.
Only a few younglings, the weakest and least valuable of the Yetis, remained, scattered sparsely throughout the outer regions of the dungeon.
These few kills did not fetch him anything useful, neither skill books nor significant drops.
His frustration boiled over.
The entire day, a precious day of grinding, had been utterly wasted.
The dungeon, which was known to reset its monster population only once every twenty-four hours,
had apparently reset itself prematurely, or perhaps something even stranger had occurred. One day wasted.
One day closer to the academy entrance, and no closer to his goal.
Leo hated the entire process of grinding and fighting.
He considered it a tedious, unpleasant chore.
He just wanted to spend his time around beautiful women and lavish parties, enjoying the immense wealth and privilege that came with being the son of a powerful industrialist.
If only this world worked solely on wealth and influence, and not on strength, he wouldn’t even have bothered with such strenuous activities.
He could simply buy his way to the top.

This mindset, this reliance on inherited status rather than earned merit, had made him similar to a third-rate villain in the web novels Klaus used to read the kind of character who was simply waiting to be face-slapped by the protagonist, utterly unprepared for genuine challenge.
As Leo struggled to get a hold of his anger, to rein in his frustration, a sudden, subtle shift in the air was noticed by him.
It was a faint ripple, a momentary distortion in the ambient mana, almost imperceptible.
Then, what he saw next horrified him.
The very reality around them seemed to glitch itself.
The solid ice walls of the dungeon, the distant glaciers, the ground beneath their feet all shimmered, warped, and then fractured into countless shimmering pixels, like a broken holographic display.
"The fuck??" Leo exclaimed, his rage momentarily forgotten, replaced by sheer disbelief and a primal fear.
Daisy, the S-rank bodyguard, and the other A-rank guards were flustered as well.
Their eyes widened, their combat-hardened instincts screaming that something profoundly unnatural was occurring.
They drew their weapons, but there was no visible enemy, only the impossible distortion of reality.
Before they could anticipate anything, before they could even utter a single word of warning or prepare for a magical countermeasure, they were violently ejected.
Their heads spun crazily, their bodies feeling as if they were being pulled through a shredder, as they were forcibly expelled from the gate.
When they finally got a hold of themselves, their vision clearing, they found themselves lying on the grassy soft ground outside the gate’s entrance.
The air was no longer cold, but much warmer and humid.
They scrambled to their feet, looking back at where the massive, shimmering portal of the Frost Fang Dungeon should have been.
What they saw horrified them, as if reality was playing a cruel, impossible joke.
The Frost Fang Dungeon, the gold mine of the Iron Guild,

the very foundation of their family’s wealth and influence, had simply disappeared out of thin air.
Where the colossal, pulsating gate had stood moments before, there was now only a solid, unremarkable rock face, as if it had never existed.
The mighty dungeon was gone.
