Developing Games: To scare players all around the world! Chapter 1

[A.N First time translating so first few Chapters might have some mistakes, if you notice please point them out] Tony Willis stood in front of a complete set of VR equipment, the kind you would only expect to see in movies. He was stunned. He never expected that one day he would end up traveling to another world. It was a world that was familiar, yet completely different. Everything was similar to own world except for one major difference. That is VR technology! In this world the VR technology is on another level. They had full sets of VR gear, along with immersive sensory suits straight out of 'Ready Player One'. The five senses are simulated very realistically, and anyone can wear VR to experience another world. Originally Tony thought video games in this world would shine. But when he searched for games with excitement, he found very few that were actually fun. Right now, 'League of Legends' is ranked first globally, but it has just changed from a PC platform to a VR one. The gameplay is still the same, just with the controls changed from tapping to gesture control. The game is still a third-person, top-down perspective too. It doesn't take advantage of VR at all, it's a bit like taking off your pants to fart. Another popular game is 'Counter-Strike'. Although this game supports VR mode, the experience isn't realistic at all. Tony tried it out and saw that the guns would wobble wierdly. He couldn't see his legs when walking, and there is almost no feedback when shooting or getting shot. It was awkward and unnatural. As for games, there was nothing to say. It's still the same 'Honor of Kings' and 'CrossFire'. The graphics of these games can't even compare to 'LoL' or CS'. Tony couldn't help but feel it was a shame that despite having such advanced VR technology, there was no game that truly uses it. In this world it seems that VR technology is mostly used for watching movies and TV shows, or chasing stars at concerts and similar stuff. When it comes to games though, VR isnt being used to its full potential at all. Tony was looking foward to some exciting VR games, but now even watching regular games is trash. Just when he was depressed, a prompt suddenly sounded in his mind. [Game Producer System] [This system can create games from the hosts memory, this gives the host a blueprint on how to create the game in VR] [However, points are required to create the blueprints. The more complex the game, the more points it costs] "Turning things from memory into reality...", Tony's eyes lit up. "Doesn't that mean that I can bring games from my previous life into this word, and make them fully VR!" He suddenly remembered all those games from his previous life with perfect clarity. Games that filled him with excitement, 'Give Him Love', 'Elden Ring', 'Call of Duty', 'The Witcher', 'Treasure of Nadia'... uh, scratch that last one. "System! What do I need to do to earn points?" Tony asked again, suppressing his excitement. [To earn points you must extract emotions from other people, whether it's shock, fear, joy, the system will collect the emotions and transfer it into points] "Sounds great." Tony frowned. "But I don't even have any points right now. How am I supposed to make anything." [Ding! The system will give a starter package of 5,000 points and a free game engine blueprint] "Not bad..." Tony nodded with satisfaction. With this 5,000 points, he already knew what he wanted to make. "Let's start with a massive AAA game, 'GTA V'!" The though flashed through Tony's mind. [Insufficient points need to produce this blueprint] "Tsk, not enough, huh." Tony narrowed his eyes then immediately changed his plan. "So big AAA titles require too much points, in that case why not make a demo first?" A demo after all is just a sample, not a finished product. So it shouldn't use too much points. His first game should focus on making points not money. He wanted to shock people and gain some traffic. So what should he make? Tony quickly looked though his memories and thought of a phenomenal game. 'Silent Hill PT' This game was just a demo in his last world. No full game ever followed, no film adaptations either. But even as demo, it shocked the gaming world. As a horror game, it really pushed every horror element to the extreme. The game is less than half an hour long, but it was enough to terrify everyone who played it. Even people just watching the game would be horrified. When Tony played this game, he was frightened and had nightmares for days. If this game were brought into this world and made into an immersive VR experience... Tsk, tsk, just thinking about it was thrilling. He'd rack up a huge amount of points too! That's it, this is the one! "System! Use my points, I want to make 'Silent Hill PT'." Tony ordered. [Ding! The full blueprint of Silient Hill PT has been sent to your mind] The next moment, Tony felt a massive amount of information flood into his brain. He sat silently digesting all the information, then turned on his computer and started to move. First of all, to make a game you need a game engine. But the current engines on the market couldn't meet the demands needed to make 'Silent Hill PT'. They all lacked one critical point, which is realism. For example, the textures of 'CS' even being in VR still had a cartoonish, animated feel to it. No game is truly realistic. Other engines had no collision volumes between items, little to no interaction with the enviroment, and overall poor physical feedback. Compared to how advanced VR tech was in the movie department, the technology of game engines in this world is really far behind. This was one of the reasons why great games didn't exist yet. But with the help of the system and some time, this wasn't a problem. Tony was also given a free blueprint from the system with his starter package, which let him recreate a game engine for VR games from scratch, though it took a while, just about 5 days. When finished, he installed the brand-new game engine he created on his computer. He named it 'Unreal Engine'. The game engine finally complete, he dove straight into progamming. Thanks to the blueprint in his mind, it wasn't difficult at all. Tony's hands flew acrros the keyboard, writing lines of code without any hesitation. And just like that, Tony locked himself in his room working non-stop for an entire week. 1090 Words.
