This place is considered a school district, so there are very few small shops around.
They drove for half an hour before arriving at the commercial area.
On their first day in the Capital City, they planned to eat traditional food like roast duck.
Lawrence Winters grimaced and said, "Uncle, do we really have to eat roast duck? I’m not really into it."
Gabrielle Winters also gently said, "I’ve not had much of an appetite recently, can’t handle things that are too greasy."
Nick Zeller laughed as he instructed the waiter to serve the dishes, "I don’t actually like it either, but roast duck has become a local specialty of the Capital City. Do you know what that means?"
Gabrielle Winters shook her head.
Nick Zeller pointed at Lawrence Winters, "Lawrence, explain it to your mom."
Lawrence Winters sighed, resigning to his fate, "Uncle taught me that it’s customary, as a newcomer, to eat the local traditional food. It’s a mark of respect for the local customs and also to show respect to the local gods and spirits. We, who believe in Feng Shui, must constantly strive for the realm of Unity of Heaven and Man."
Gabrielle Winters: "...including eating local traditional foods we don’t like."
"It’s just this once. Like being a guest, you have to respect the host’s dietary habits, right?" Nick Zeller said with a smile, "I’ve ordered mushroom stir-fry and steamed fish for you."
Gabrielle Winters let out a sigh of relief, winked at Lawrence Winters, and said with a smile, "Alright then, I’ll just eat a slice of roast duck to respect the local customs."
When the roast duck was served, the three each tried a slice.
Lawrence Winters immediately said, "It is the Capital City after all, this roast duck is the best I’ve ever had!"
Gabrielle Winters nodded while eating, "It’s indeed good, I can accept this flavor."
By the time the meal was over, it was already nine in the evening.
Nick Zeller took Gabrielle Winters and Lawrence Winters back to the two-bedroom apartment to rest.
Lawrence Winters quickly took a shower and had just comfortably laid down on the bed when Kenneth Osborne called.
Lawrence Winters perked up and answered, "Brother Kenneth, we’ve arrived in the Capital City."
"I know." Kenneth Osborne was leisurely lying in the upper bunk of his dorm, typing on his laptop and speaking through a Bluetooth headset, "Was the journey smooth? Have you arrived at the university?"
"The journey was quite smooth. Brother Kenneth, you won’t believe who we met on the high-speed train!" Lawrence Winters excitedly shared her experience with Kenneth Osborne, "I witnessed the Mason and Graham couple with my own eyes!"
Kenneth Osborne paused his typing, also a bit surprised, "Really? Mason and Chief Graham?"
"Yes, it’s really them! I saw them with my own eyes! I can brag about this for a year!" Lawrence Winters babbled on, regretting not sneaking a photo.
Kenneth Osborne’s face softened, and after Lawrence Winters finished talking, he chuckled softly, "Nobody has ever dared to sneak a photo of Mr. Mason, be glad you weren’t that bold."
Lawrence Winters sighed for a moment and then let it go, yawning, "Oh, I’m so tired. I’m going to the university tomorrow. Brother Kenneth, where are you staying?"
"I’m staying on campus, room 308 on the 42nd floor. Tomorrow I’ll wait for you at the school gate?" Kenneth Osborne finished all his assignments and work today for tomorrow.
Lawrence Winters shook his head, "No need. I’ll call you after I register. Let’s have a meal together, my treat."
Kenneth Osborne was delighted but said, "We definitely have to eat together, but I’ll treat. Don’t argue with me, I’m your senior, it’s my duty to take care of my junior."
Lawrence Winters agreed when he said that, although she was very sleepy, her voice was already muffled, "...Alright, you treat first, and I’ll treat you back later."
She fell asleep right after she said that.
The Bluetooth headset echoed with Lawrence Winters’ even and gentle breathing.
She actually fell asleep without hanging up the phone.

He then ended the call.
Early the next morning, Nick Zeller got Lawrence Winters and Gabrielle Winters up to first go shopping for clothes and daily necessities.
The mother-daughter duo picked out items from morning until two in the afternoon.
Nick Zeller checked his watch and urged them, "We need to go to Lawrence’s university to register, we only have three hours left."
Lawrence Winters looked at the shopping bags in her hands and the new branded cashmere hoodie she was wearing, and the navy short Moncler down jacket, feeling satisfied, "Alright, I’ve got enough."
Gabrielle Winters had been buying clothes for Lawrence Winters, but apart from buying some underwear, she hadn’t gotten anything else for herself. However, she wasn’t worried, planning to order online when they got back.
The three checked out and left the shopping mall, speeding toward Metropolitan North University.
Lawrence Winters remembered to ask Nick Zeller only when they were in the car, "Uncle, I heard universities monitor attendance, I haven’t been to classes, how is the attendance calculated?"
Nick Zeller proudly said, "I got you a medical leave, remember you were recovering all this time... The paperwork is legitimate, the vice-chancellor of Met University personally approved it, and your department head was promoted by the vice-chancellor, don’t worry!"
Lawrence Winters nodded and curiously asked, "Uncle, how did you become so close with the vice-chancellor of Met University?"
Although she formally got admitted to Metropolitan North University, she hardly attended classes but graduated based on her exam scores alone, a favor of significant magnitude.
Nick Zeller smiled and said, "...Even the vice-chancellor consults on Feng Shui."

"I also graduated from here." Gabrielle Winters smiled gently, looking out at the campus scenery with ease.
Lawrence Winters was stunned for a while, her mouth agape.
