Death Of A Rose Chapter 10

His alarm woke him up around 10 pm, and he waited for his parents but he didn't see them. He waited for another 15 minutes before he gave them a call, but their line was switched off. So he went to Collins and asked if they gave him a call but he refused. He was really worried and dialed the number of few peers of his parents that he knew, but they told him, they haven't heard from them too. He felt a cold aura and was very scared because their phone was hardly ever switched off so he knew something was wrong. He called the police line to inform them of the situation and they asked him few questions and promised to do something about it as soon as possible. By then, Mary was sleeping until she was woken up by a bad dream. She saw someone she loved that was killed and she was very scared too. The clock was ticking so loudly that night like a werewolf would surface any time soon. The once peaceful home seemed weird. It was so silent like a graveyard and Prince started having a funny feeling that his parents were dead or something or maybe they were robbed. So he became optimistic and tried to sleep through till the next day. He had horrible dreams of his parents dying in a fatal accident. He woke up thrice that night with different bad dreams. He had to go to Mary's room and told her that he couldn't sleep because of the situation. They hugged each other and slept peacefully throughout the night. The next day, they both woke up very late. Then Mary tapped Prince and told him that he didn't even bother to ask how he was able to give an excuse for serving Collins' dinner very late last night. But that didn't seem interesting to Prince. He was concerned about the well-being of his parents. "Mary, that's not the issue now. The issue at hand is about the whereabouts of my parents. Don't you get it?" He called the police line again and later dressed up to go to the station to write a statement. Suddenly they were news everywhere of the disappearance of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison. That's when it dawned on him that his instinct wasn't lying. He didn't go to the station with any car because his father warned him against that. After three days, some people found the dead body of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison wrapped up in a waste bag. The news reached major media channels since the victims were wealthy and influential. The news broke down Harrison's household and extended family, friends, and business partners. Mr. Harrison was a philanthropist so every life he had touched really cried for his demise. Mary lamented for their death as if they were her parents because they treated her like family when they were alive. Prince fainted. He never thought he would lose his parents on the same day. When he was revived, Mary and Collins consoled him. Their deaths weren't an accident, it was an assassination from an enemy. They were shot in the head. Prince felt how Rose's parents felt when they lost their precious daughter. In due time, a befitting burial was done for his parents and the police came to Prince's household and his parents' peers to know if they suspected anyone that may have plotted the victims' death. So they were lots of interrogation on the late victims' peers, families, business partners, fellow politicians, etc. as suspects. A whole new page was opening for Prince who was greeted by almost everyone in his extended family. They all sympathized with him. He had never fend for himself before as an independent man. He wished he was like his father, a very successful tycoon. He also missed his mother's love. He remembered the last time he spoke to her. If only he knew they would kick the bucket, he would've advised her not to go. Now, life has dealt with him severely to rent his confidence apart. He looked at the pictures of his late parents decorating the parlor wall, and depression made him shed uncontrollable tears. He remembered all those treasured moments he shared with them. Sometimes, he would smile and still cry afterward. He was consoled by the people around him, including his friends from college. It was a huge blow on him. He knew he had to find the killer that filled his cup with sorrows. Days passed by and the lawyer with the Will finally came when everyone was present. To everyone's surprise, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison included Mary and Collins as part of the beneficiaries of his Will. They gave her five million dollars while Collins was given ten million dollars for serving them for over two decades and maintaining a good record. Every charitable organization the late couple knew also benefited from his Will. They ensured everyone workers under him got a raise and more bonuses to make their easier and fun. Prince wasn't left aside too as he was also awarded a worthy share of their properties. The Will made everyone included in it happy. His parents were really worthy to have graced this Earth. Prince was very proud of his parents when many tycoons also brought gifts, money, etc and the media spoke much of their good deeds. When Prince saw all of these, he vowed to live a responsible life so he can be like his parents. Prince's prime suspect was Rose's father due to the assault he got from him when apologizing. He told Mary and Collins about it, but they advised him not to create false allegations without proof of claim. "I could see a fire of revenge in that man's eyes. If not for the intervention of his wife, I'd have been a goner. It just hurt me that my parents couldn't hear about the apology incident." Prince narrated. "He must have done it out of anger. Unless you've proof before you can accuse anyone." Collins advised as they were discussing in the garden. "But I'll let the police know he is a prime suspect because at this moment I don't trust anyone." Prince remained obstinate. "Don't you think that will cause more sorrows to the family if they are innocent?" Mary suggested. "I don't care. Every perpetrator must be brought to book. I won't rest until justice is served. How can they kill my parents and the driver and throw them in the dustbin? The idiots absconded with the car and left no clue to trace them. I'm calling the cops right away to inform them of my suspicious about Rose's father. Collins and Mary knew he had every right to know who killed his beloved parents so they didn't bother trying to dissuade him anymore. After informing the cops about his thoughts they told him to come to the station. He later went there and they agreed to visit Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel.
