I returned to the cobblestone path. I walked further into it and it led to a bamboo forest. Deep inside the bamboo forest was a bamboo house. I walked towards it and gasped internally, my parents sure know how to enjoy themselves. I opened the bamboo door and the furniture inside was all made of bamboo.
I touched each furniture, they felt familiar yet unfamiliar, it was a strange feeling. I stopped before the bookshelf and touched every single book. They were my father’s collection. I knew it without even knowing why. I also remembered the bookshelf serve another purpose! I studied the bookshelf closely before I went down to sit on the couch. The couch was weaved from bamboo. My father made it too. I just knew it. I walked out from the bamboo house. Ignoring the group of people following me, I continued my tour. Passing the bamboo forest, there was a small garden. It used to be planted with various precious medicinal plants, but now it had been abandoned.
This was my mother’s paradise. In the middle of the garden was a small fountain but the water had already dried. I used the whole afternoon to tour around the large grounds before I returned to the main house. Tong Lin was not around but Miss Yan was waiting for me on the couch. When she saw me, she immediately stood up. “Nanxing, you’re back? Are you tired? They said you’ve been walking for a whole afternoon.”
I studied her. Even though she was not amazingly pretty, she was as pretty as Jing Yan and Nanyang, her actions were very childish and easy to read. Perhaps it was because she loves Tong Lin too much. I sighed. When a woman treated themselves as low as dust, then the men would treat the woman like that too. Such was the case with this Miss Yan.
When the maid served the tea, Miss Yan quickly accepted it and served it to me. She said with 30 percent sincerity and 70 percent eagerness to please. “Nanxing, please have some tea. Tong Lin brought these with him.”
I accepted the tea cup and looked at her. “You don’t need to treat me so well. Tong Lin and I are not the same kind of people, eventually we’ll turn on each other and then you’ll regret treating me so well now.” She was surprised and then she smiled, “Nanxing, you’re funny.”
I shivered with goosebumps. Please don’t act like a white lotus!
Unlike Jing Ni who was naturally innocent, this girl’s act just made me feel uncomfortable. I sighed when I thought about Jing Ni. The girl was roped into this issue because of me. It was me that caused Auntie Bai Rui and Jing Ni to be injured.
Basically I had concluded the situation in my mind. It was Tong Lin who injured little uncle and then he led Jing Tian away from his home. After that, he used Jing Ni and Auntie Bai Rui to threaten me. I had to admit it was a very good plan. My little uncle didn’t know that Tong Lin was still alive, he’d be so happy to know his nephew was actually still living.
Unfortunately his nephew never saw him as family. I believed it was Shi Feng who leaked the news about me to Tong Lin.
“Tong Xin, my name is Yan Xin, I am so glad to meet you.” Yan Xin introduced herself.
I was not glad to meet her so I only looked at her coolly.
Yan Xin inched closer to me and said kindly, “Nanxing, did you really live here when you were young? You must be so lucky. Do you know? I fell in love the first time I arrived here. I heard that your parents built this place for you, I’m so envious of you!” Her tone was very coy, it was very different from the aggrieved young lady whom she posed during lunch.
How impressive! I gasped internally.
I leaned back on the couch and sighed. “This is so boring!”
Yan Xin said immediately, “Then what kind of activity do you have in mind? I can accompany you!” Her big eyes blinked eagerly at me. I resisted the urge to pluck out her fake lashes. I thought about it and said, “Do you know how to play games?”
She was startled and then said with some embarrassment. “I can’t say I do. Because Tong Lin doesn’t like it so I don’t play games.”
I burst out laughing. “Do you live your life by his approval? Aren’t you tired?”
Yan Xin bit on her lower lips. I stretched and yawned greatly, “So boring~”
Yan Xin seemed to make a decision then. “Okay, but we can only play for a while, okay?”
Does she think I’m a child? No matter, as long as I can get my hands on a computer or a phone!
I smiled satisfactorily at her. Yan Xin stood up and whispered, “Let us sneak into the conference room’s office. We’ll use the computer there.”
