Cyber Era Witch Chapter 95

95: Chapter 78: When A Benevolent Witch 95: Chapter 78: When A Benevolent Witch A small hand reached from behind and clutched Xu Yang firmly; he turned his head to see Farosa, her face covered in blood, looking quite terrifying after bumping her head in the recent collision. More frightening than the injuries themselves was Farosa’s gaze, filled with extreme anger, like that of a beast. “Why such a face,” Xu Yang tried to wipe the fresh blood from her face, using a half-joking tone to ease the tension. Farosa looked as desperate as she did back at the mining site when she was seriously injured, a sight Xu Yang never wished to see again. That painful, weakened Farosa, once seen, was enough. It’s so painful…” Farosa kept gasping for air. Xu Yang looked up at the automatic doctor. The shuttle machine was now overturned, rendering the medical equipment non-functional unless they managed to strap Farosa upside down to the operating chair— if only someone could actually tie her up. Lila hadn’t responded before because her head had fallen off elsewhere. She retrieved and reattached her head to her belt before finally letting out a sigh of relief. Her head was her last connection to her former body shape and couldn’t be lost. The synthetic human women, trembling like plastic dolls, held hands with each other; they suffered some damage in the impact, but it was minor. Everything was upside down and blurry. Lila walked over to the inverted console, righted the chairs, reached up high, adjusted the screens, and read the data—all the characters needed to be interpreted from a different angle. “Anonymous is 100% capsized, the hull damaged by 15%, critical components damaged by 3%,” Lila assessed. “Repairs recommended.” “Repairs won’t be quick enough,” Xu Yang looked at Farosa, “use the Law of Recovery to revert it back to normal, including yourself.” “I need coffee to recover magic power,” Farosa said through gritted teeth. She dared not touch the painful spot on her head; it must be covered in blood. The pain was unbearable! It was like being viciously hammered by a dwarf from the far north, her skull becoming an anvil where every second brought a buzzing sound accompanied by relentless throbbing, hindering her ability to cast spells. Xu Yang ran to the storage cabinet where supplies were kept, reaching underneath to pull it open—Canned coffee clattered down, and he had to dodge quickly. In severe pain, Farosa didn’t bother to pick up the coffee cans but instead sat on the hatch cover, hugging her knees, so distressed she cried. “It hurts so much…” She had been kicked, shot, stabbed, burned by stupid mobs, even buried alive, but none of that compared to the pain she felt now. “Drink it up, and then you’ll have the magic power to heal,” Xu Yang consoled, “and it’ll stop hurting afterwards.” I’m not happy,” Farosa lifted her head, “What are you going to do about it?” “Pamper you…” Xu Yang patiently sat next to Farosa, wrapping his arms around her shoulders, his forehead against hers, “There, there, Farosa, the best, the world’s greatest witch.” With Xu Yang’s comfort, Farosa reluctantly drank the coffee. Finally, there was someone in the world willing to indulge her bad temper, and it brought her great peace of mind. She touched her forehead and used the Law of Recovery on the injured spot, fully restoring it to the state before it was hit. She then proceeded to lead Xu Yang, Lila, and the synthetic human women out of the shuttle machine. Manipulating reality beyond the limits of time and space, Farosa silently prepared, carefully adjusting the range of her magic power coverage. With links to the stars and blessed by two celestial bodies, Farosa was indeed outstanding among witches. Xu Yang was sure he had been watching the shuttle machine constantly, yet he missed the moment it righted itself. Even the processor of the Digital Mind failed to capture that frame of change. In an infinitely divisible moment, the Law of Recovery restored the objects to their original state, purely a result of magic power. If the recovery target was a container, then the contents would change with it. By treating the shuttle machine as a whole container to recover, Farosa avoided any associated issues. Xu Yang realized that he must find an opportunity in the future to test all the possibilities of the Law of Recovery—what it could restore and how… When he restored a grenade that was about to explode, even the removed pin returned instantly; when Lila’s severed arm was restored, the scattered metal pieces also returned to her body. Even after healing herself and the shuttle, Farosa was still in a bad mood, kicking at the broken stones on the ground. After ensuring their own safety, Xu Yang immediately turned his attention back to Shenkong Tower. The huge building had been destroyed, the shopping mall on top had crumbled, like a pillar blown full of holes from the inside, all the glass shattered, every floor cracked. Matteo and his group had detonated as many as 7 “dirty bombs,” resulting in the destruction of everything, the tower’s collapse, the part connected to the ground breaking completely, the ground collapsing, flames roaring within the circular structure, green smoke spreading everywhere, and the air filled with toxic bio-gases. Countless vehicles, machines, robots, blast fences, bystanders, and shuttle machines also fell in, with many injured trapped inside, their inhuman screams barely audible as they suffered from radiation poisoning, their skins melted, organs exposed, newly infected with acute radiation sickness—an agony beyond what any living being should endure. Moreover, radioactive materials would contaminate all objects at the site, bringing serious harm to the area. To fully repair the ecological disaster would require a vast sum. Through the cracks, clear skies could be seen, in the afterglow of the setting sun, the toxic smoke billowing out. If observed from high above, one would see a giant festering sore on the beautiful and luxurious Anjiu City. New ground-level warnings started blaring, detecting the concentration of radioactive material exceeding safe levels, alerting citizens to evacuate quickly. “Where did Matteo go?” Xu Yang’s heart was filled with endless hatred, Black Fire Innovation would forever be a cancer that brings pain to the world. “…I can’t track him.” Lila could only sense the countless lives perishing, the chaotic signals returning one by one to her consciousness chip. In such a situation, there was only one way to find Matteo… “Don’t stay here long,” Xu Yang turned his head, “Lila, take the shuttle machine and take Farosa away, she can’t breathe in the poison fog at the scene.” “What about you?” Farosa frowned, “You think you can?” “Let me see.” Xu Yang activated the advanced combat mode of the nano armor. The nanobots and fiber bundles fully unfolded, wrapping around every corner of his body. The original nano armor, which resembled a black vest, now fully extended, its coating expanded and reinforced, resembled a full suit of pitch-black armor, its appearance fierce like a demonic beast, with sharp edges, quite intimidating. “Nanobots can filter harmful substances, helping their owner remain unscathed in a radioactive environment,” Lila scanned and analyzed, “Has high resistance to radiation, recommended activity time in Shenkong Tower: 20 minutes.” Even such advanced Cloud Beasts could only last 20 minutes there, Xu Yang knew time was precious. “What good is 20 minutes?” Farosa didn’t understand. “I must find Sally,” Xu Yang resolved firmly, “On one hand, she’s worked with Matteo for so long, she should know his next move, I absolutely can’t let Matteo leave alive, that beast must die. On the other hand, Sally is the spiritual leader of the Ratmen, if she perishes here, the other Ratmen will definitely become more maniacal, launching relentless revenge attacks against humans, and the conflict between humans and Ratmen will never be resolved.” “She must have been turned to dust in such an impact,” Farosa scorned. “But you can save her,” Xu Yang looked intently at Farosa, “You have the Law of Recovery, you can reverse everything.” “It depends on how intact it is, if it’s too battered, then it’s no good. Give me just a strand of hair, and I can only restore that strand of hair,” Farosa shook her head. “A chance to save her is good enough,” Xu Yang looked towards Shenkong Tower, with the surrounding personnel and shuttle machines avoiding it like the plague, only a few elite were attempting to enter, they surely also wanted to find Sally, even if it was just her remains. “Since waking up, how many good deeds of saving the dying and helping the injured have I done,” Farosa said sarcastically, “Anyone who knew me before would be so relieved to see this.” “You said you wanted to be a pure Witch yourself, prove it to me,” Xu Yang leaped and left the shuttle machine. “There are Power Armored Soldiers inside,” Lila warned, “They are equally unafraid of radiation, and it will be very dangerous if encountered.” “Be my eyes, help me navigate,” Xu Yang maintained contact with Lila using Digital Mind, while activating the invisibility stance of the armor, becoming an invisible specter, rushing towards the crumbling Shenkong Tower. Find her within 20 minutes! Considering the time for his own withdrawal, in total, there were only about 15 minutes left. All around, the desolation of Shenkong Tower was the center of attention. “How terrifying…” Many citizens on the ground and the earth’s surface could see the horrendous scene from their vantage points; those who realized the danger had already started running, as radioactive fog was carried by the wind towards different parts of the city, like a deadly rain. People inside the corporate buildings numbly watched the destruction of Shenkong Tower, wondering if this would compel the company to grant them a day off. If Xu Yang could afford to observe the financial markets, he would see Kyoto Infinity’s stock price no longer climbing steadily, but starting to plummet, diving downwards, unknown where the bottom lay, all investors frantically selling their related assets, the events here the focus of the world. Anjiu City’s major security companies dispatched numerous drones and shuttle machines, which rapidly arrived at designated locations to protect VIP individuals leaving Anjiu City, fearing even the slightest damage to their health, leaving behind those citizens who couldn’t afford to pay, waiting for unknown health diseases. In the shadows, Xu Yang had already broken into the interior of the building, where he saw Ratmen dead and wounded in droves, wailing endlessly. Giant Rats, ablaze, strained to struggle but were pinned down by heavy floors, unable to escape. The smaller Ratmen were instantly obliterated in the explosion, evaporated in the flash of light without a trace of pain, leaving this world and making other lives struggling to survive in the building envy them. A Giant Rat, its voice hoarse, kept roaring over and over. Its vocal cords dissolved, lungs burned through, tongue ulcerated, the sounds it made no longer had any meaning, perhaps signifying hatred, pain, despair, unknown to anyone. A gunshot ended the Giant Rat’s life. Following the sound, Xu Yang saw two Power Armored Soldiers protecting the movement of a Witch dressed in radiation-resistant armor; seeing them, Xu Yang momentarily paused, the Power Armor bore the sign of Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing. “No sign of Sally, nor the Cyber Specter,” the Witch reported through the internal communicator of her armor, “Continue the search, over.”
