MALAYINA 04 June 2018 I look around the room for the third time making sure I've packed everything as I zip my bag up. I look over to the door that connects my room to Amars and my heart starts to feel heavy as I come to realise that this is it. Any chances of me saying my farewells to him are gone. After we executed his grandfather he made it very clear that I was free to leave and when he stormed out of the room without another word or second glance over his shoulder... I was left standing in the room stupefied staring at his lifeless grandfather on the bed. I have to admit, I had no idea what to anticipate from him. However, I was not expecting those words to come from his mouth in light of what he had previously said to me. All the promises he made of him claiming me was nothing but all talk and oddly I feel like crying. I honestly dont know what the hell is going on with me, but, what I do know is that I've been an emotional mess for the past few days and it's internally driving me insane. Amar flew to Greece yesterday morning with his private jet. He intends to declare his grandfather's death, ascending to his rightful position as the Diamandis family Don with Vanko at his side as his capo. (Underboss.) Originally he wanted us to go together and announce our families alliance. I couldn't do it. It just feels wrong on so many levels. I mean, what right do I have to stand at his side and decide what's best for my parent's people? I've been gone for so many years and with my parents being deceased, someone would have had to step up and take over in their honour. Who's to say that if I show up demanding my rightful position that they won't hesitate to put a bullet in between my eyes? KNOCK, KNOCK. I pinch my brows together, turning to face the door as I wonder who could be on the other side. I ordered the Uber for ten-thirty and it's only just going on ten. I pull the door open with an inkling of hope that it's Amar. "Detective Evie?" I spit out in shock. "Mal, it's good to see you." A small smile curves upwards on her tired face. "May I come in?" "Ah, yeah.. Please." I chuckle, stepping to the side as I pull the door wide open. I turn around to face her, "I'm sorry. I, um, I'm surprised to see you here." I walk over towards the bed, removing my bag and sit down. She sits on the bed beside me, "I received a message from Amar that he has returned home to Athens and he requested that I come to see you and check up on you." She finishes with a loud sigh. "He did?" I ask with surprise. "He did, he also wanted me to tell you that if you change your mind, this is where you can find him." She reaches into her pocket and passes me a folded piece of paper. I glimpse down at it without bothering to open it and read what he has written down. Instead, I shove it into the pocket of my bag with no real intention to give it another thought. He's gone. It's what I wanted and now for the first time, I have free reign over my life. "He could have left it somewhere in the room for me to find. He shouldn't have asked you to do this, I'm sorry." I find myself apologising to her. "I was hoping to catch up with you anyway." She smirks. "Especially after what happened at the club where you so bravely, and, stupidly gave yourself up to, Amar." "I did what I thought was right to keep everyone safe," I say honestly. The sound of a notification message chimes and I watch as she pulls her phone out and reads the message with her features changing. "You put yourself in a risky situation and an, even more, riskier position when you murdered the Don of the Diamandis family." She sighs, standing up. "I don't know what you're talking about." I try to act clueless. "Babe, please don't try to play dumb with me." Her voice comes out strained. "I've just received a message that there is a warrant out for your arrest. You were caught on CCTV exiting the building on the west wing with your hands covered in blood." She reaches behind her and pulls out a pair of handcuffs. "I'm sorry," I stand up and turn around with my hands placed behind my back. "You're only doing your job." I squeeze my eyes shut, shaking my head as I remember back to that night. After Amar had left the room with everyone following him, I turned back around to look at Mr Diamandis and I made the wrong choice to take a closer look at the tattoo on his left hand. Through a sea of dark colours and bad inked artwork read the lines to the nursery rhyme my mother used to sing to me. She had an endearing and occasionally vexing tendency of humming it incessantly wherever she went. The lyrics prompted a meltdown in which I bolted from the building, desperate to get away from everyone because I felt as if I were suffocating. I just ran through the building without thinking even though, Amar, had advised me to only access the south and east wing as there were no cameras set by the doorways. Come to think of it, I believe I excited the west wing door. Shit!! "Parisa Nazari aka Malayina. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you." She says as she begins to read me my rights and cuffs me at the same time. She turns me around to face her with a look of remorse staining her complexion."Do you understand the rights I have just read you?" I nod. "With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me?" I shake my head. I've seen enough crime television series to know that talking without a lawyer is a big no, no. She lazily nods her head. "Wise choice." Leading me towards the door, she pulls it open and comes to a halt. "A word of advice: refrain from speaking to anyone and avoid disclosing anything about that night. What you may believe is insignificant information to you may be critical to the prosecutor's case." I nod my head in agreement as I allow her to escort me out of the building and straight to the cells.
