I seemed to have taken him off-guard with the kiss, but he quickly recovered and kissed me back.
I was internally rejoicing that he didn't push me away from him and lock me up or something, then I would've noticed that he wasn't making naughty inside jokes about locking me up all along. But just the way how he took control made me realize that I didn't misunderstand him one bit.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and pushed me against the door as he continued to move his lips roughly against mine. I couldn't help but run my fingers through his devilishly messy dark hair that I itched to feel from the moment I saw him.
I received a throaty groan from him as he ran one hand up and down my waist while he used the other to pull at my hair, automatically giving him better access. I gasped when he thrust his tongue inside my mouth as my mind got foggier by the second. I kissed him with all the want I could muster as my body throbbed for him. I could feel his want too as he pushed it all in the steamy kiss.
It wasn't until I heard my own moan that I jumped away from him. I watched him wide eyed as he did the same. But something told me he was just shocked at how fast I pulled away.
What was I thinking!
He's the detective for my dead ex's case for crying out loud!
I shook my head in attempts to clear my mind and slow my still heaving breathing but to no avail. I opened and closed my eyes a couple times to see if it was actually real. It felt so good that I had to think twice if it was real or not.
"I- I'm so sorry" I stuttered as I made eye contact with him again.
He visibly relaxed before taking slow teasing steps towards me. He ran just the tip of his thumb down my cheek, causing a shiver to run through my spine at the simple gesture. He obviously noticed, and I felt oddly shy and submissive to him in that very moment.
So unlike me.
"I'm sorry" I repeated pathetically, but he simply smiled at me.
"I'm not" He whispered with brooding eyes, calling me to his trance once again.
All I wanted to do was take him to my room and satisfy that burn that I've been feeling from the moment he walked into that interrogation room. But I knew if I did, things would not go how I wanted it. I didn't even know what I wanted, but one thing I've learnt is that lust should never cloud judgment. It can, but you shouldn't let it.
So instead of giving into the want evident in both our eyes, I ran.
I ran to the kitchen and locked the door. I had expected him to leave, but instead he followed me, knocked and called after me.
"Is everything okay? " He asked from the other side of the door.
"I'm good. " I shouted a little too quickly.
"If it was too much for you, we can take it slow if you want to. "
"Take what slow? " I asked in confusion. ‘Had I just made this a thing? Damn I'm so stupid.’
"Just open the door Cianna. Let's talk" He pleaded, and I realized just how immature I was being.
It was like I was in the second grade and kissed a boy with cuties so I decided to run away and wallow in my own idiocy.
Sighing, I slowly opened the door. I expected him to look annoyed, but instead he looked concerned. I was relieved, but I also wasn't ready for this conversation. I knew what he was going to ask and I didn't want him to.
"What's wrong? " He finally asked, making me groan in response.
"I don't know. I shouldn't have kissed you. " I mumbled as I buried my head in my hands.
"Why? Didn't you like it? "
"It's because I liked it," I told him truthfully, looking up to meet his eyes. He looked confused at this, so I attempted to make it clearer. "If I'm being honest, I've been attracted to you since the day I saw you, and I've just been itching to see if I would -"
"Still be attracted to me if we had a moment like what we just had" He finished my statement perfectly and accurately for me.
I nodded slowly with a guilty and scared look on my face. I felt like I had just stolen a cookie from the cookie jar- a really hot cookie. But when he took a few steps towards me then caged me against the island with his hand, it all vanished.
"I know," he whispered lowly. "Because I know what you are feeling"
"But we don't even know each other. And isn't this a bit weird? You know, given the circumstances" I asked almost inaudibly, hating how much his close proximity was affecting me.
"That is true. " He mumbled as he buried his head in the crook of my neck. "But for one, this doesn't have to be romantic if you don't want it to. And two, nobody has to know"
A gasp escaped my lips as he ran his tongue over my neck and my eyes fluttered closed when he continued to leave hot kisses down the sensitive area. However, I tried hard to stay focused.
"Like...only a sexual relationship? " I asked through heavy breaths. My body obviously liked that idea, but a part of me didn't.
"If you want to" He mumbled before nipping my flesh again. "It's your choice. Though I would really like to get to know you more Cianna."
"I- I need to think" I tried to say but it came out with a moan instead.
He gripped my waist and hoisted me up on the island before coming between my legs. He removed his head from my neck and gazed into my eyes intensely. My breathing was still heavy and my body was crying out for him, so there was no way I could've made a decision.
"So think," was the last thing he said before recapturing my lips with his again, and that's when I knew that thinking had to wait till later.
Whatever happened now will just have to happen.
Consequences be damned later.
