Catastrophe Containment Facility Chapter 973

For all the students in this school, endless exams are a painful torment. But for the school principal, it’s a significant treasure. Initially, the principal was very happy; he not only saved on the cost of printing exam papers, but the student admission rate also increased sharply, which is something every principal dreams of. As for whether this burdened the students too much, he simply didn’t care. Until one student was driven by these exams to the point of attempting to jump off a building, but was saved by a few exam papers just before hitting the ground, and then started working on the papers downstairs, thus catching the attention of the Hunter Association. Two Demon Hunters came to Yellowstone Middle School to investigate and eventually discovered that the anomaly was located in the school’s printing room. No one was working in that printing room, but each time someone went to pick up the papers, exam papers would appear at the doorway to meet the demand. The Demon Hunters tried to break into the printing room for investigation, and ended up doing exam papers at the door for three entire days, to the point of vomiting. Fortunately, they were not students of the school, so they were not harassed by these printers after leaving the school on the fourth day. After repeated tests by the Hunter Association, it was discovered that only those groups needing to do exam papers and those attempting to enter the printing room were forcibly distributed various exam papers, while some of the teachers and staff at the school were not affected by this printing room. So the Association decided to abandon this school, relocating the students to another location for study, but this instead stimulated a certain characteristic of the printing room, causing more people to be forced to do exam papers. Thus, the later strategy of the Hunter Association in dealing with this containment item became reducing the frequency of fetching exam papers each day to keep the distribution frequency of the exam papers within an acceptable range. Though this still inflicted a certain level of mental impact on the kids, it was within an acceptable range, and it greatly benefited the students’ advancement to higher learning as well. Upon first receiving the information, Wen Wen was skeptical. The presentation of this containment item was too peculiar, inflicting mental torment using only exam papers without harming life, and even intervening to save a person when they were attempting suicide by completing their papers. Such a mild containment item was relatively rare, though its abilities could not be underestimated, as the range of its influence encompassed the entire school’s student body, and there was no way to confirm if this was the limit of its power. Wen Wen decided to visit this school today; capturing this thing would be the best outcome. With this, the education of the monsters in the sanctuary could become fully automated. Wen Wen would no longer need to create exams or supervise them, as all these tasks would be handled by the entity within the school. Moreover, this mission could also rescue all the students of this school; he believed they would be grateful to Wen Wen for saving them from the clutches of exam papers. Like the math buildings at Yellowstone Middle School and Capital University, the teaching buildings were unremarkable, the sports fields were unremarkable, the teachers’ spirits were languid, and the students’ faces were haggard and lifeless... Well, the latter two were certainly abnormal. When Wen Wen walked in, classes were still in session, and he casually pulled out a badge to bluff his way past the gatekeeper, smoothly entering the campus. As his status within the Hunter Association grew, the number of ’fake credentials’ in Wen Wen’s possession also multiplied, and the descriptions on them became ever more exaggerated. Titles like "International Psychology Master," "Federation Major-General," and "Deputy Director of Some Special Department" were featured. However, unlike the fake certificates used for SCP dealings before, these credentials were issued by the Hunter Association, and couldn’t be easily debunked by anyone digging for flaws. Of course, Demon Hunters needed no disguise to enter any venue; the authority of each Ranger was alarmingly high, yet Demon Hunters tended to avoid letting ordinary people know of their existence. After entering the school, Wen Wen first visited each classroom and found that the students here listened attentively to their lessons, something rarely seen in regular high schools. Teachers also taught with great passion as the classroom was filled with students earnestly absorbing the material, which was a satisfying scene for any teacher. In truth, the students’ attentiveness was somewhat forced; if they didn’t focus during class and made too many mistakes in the exams, they would have their palms struck. Although the strikes didn’t leave any marks, the pain was excruciating. In a classroom where self-study was happening, students worked on exam papers with utmost concentration, showing no odd behaviors as if an invigilator stood beside them observing the test. The teacher, yawning widely while reading a novel, was relaxed in his invigilation duties at Yellowstone Middle School, as no student dared to cheat or whisper during tests. Wen Wen could sense an unusual force flowing in this classroom, much like a pair of eyes consistently monitoring these students. Taking a deep breath, he gradually heightened his inspiration, causing the surrounding reality to blur while peculiar entities manifested in the air. Only after raising his inspiration to a very high level could Wen Wen fully see the material form of these entities. Beside each student, something was supervising their test, resembling brains floating in the air. In front of the brains hung two eyeballs, and dense nerves and blood vessels extended downward, forming a human silhouette. At the end of the human figure’s right hand, a red ballpoint pen was connected through blood vessels and nerves, while a ruler about ten centimeters long was attached to the left hand. The eyes of these entities remained fixed on the exam papers, denying the students any chance of cheating. Wen Wen rubbed his eyes, dispelling the scene before him; he had encountered numerous challenges in the past, so such sights did not faze him, but they did prove the complexity of the entity within this school. After surveying the students’ area, Wen Wen found a corridor that had been sealed off, watching over a security guard seated at its entrance munching on melon seeds. This security guard was a Supporter of the Hunter Association, tasked daily with regulating the number of times exam papers were collected; exceeding this affected the students, while too few would unsettle the printing room. After revealing his identity, Wen Wen was allowed to walk freely into the corridor leading to the printing room’s door. The printing room seemed unremarkable, yet inside was a vaguely immense pool of energy, bearing a semblance to the brains monitoring students, but vastly larger. Wen Wen blinked his eyes, enacting various protective measures around himself, then knocked on the printing room door. "Hello, is anyone in there? I’m here to collect papers. I’m a detective looking to enhance my skills, and it’s just me needing to do them."
