Catastrophe Containment Facility Chapter 1000

The rickshaw entered the water, with bright flashlights tied to the foreheads of Ben Bo’er and Bapoer, the two rickshaws began speeding through the darkness. The ocean beneath the ice had an indescribable sense of terror. As the depth increased, the faint light penetrating the ice disappeared, and the visible distance was only where the flashlights illuminated. There were various tiny creatures in the water, and whenever a terrifying-looking fish swam by, Tao Qingqing’s face turned pale with fright. Wen Wen was extremely excited, as everything here was fascinating. The feeling of deep sea exploration was much more interesting than touring with a group. He could sense faint oceanic life signals, but he never knew what would appear in the flashlight’s beam the next second. This lottery-like feeling made Wen Wen find it quite amusing. After descending to a certain depth, normal creatures were hard to see, except for some that were two to three meters long, resembling large pig intestines, and ugly fish covered in pits and bumps without eyes. Wen Wen even saw a giant squid more than ten meters long, which considered Wen Wen and the rest as prey. But it hadn’t expected to be captured and thrown directly into the sanctuary, instantly frozen. "It’s really deep here and there are still squids. These creatures really love diving. I wonder how squid this size tastes, probably very chewy." For ordinary people, squid of this size might have a rubbery texture, but for Wen Wen, it’s just right. After diving several hundred meters deep, Ben Bo’er and Bapoer stopped descending, and quickly moved along the route Wen Wen provided. Wen Wen could feel the heavy water pressure against the shield, but this pressure was easily withstood by the shield. Occasionally, Wen Wen could sense the underwater part of an iceberg. Above water, it might only be a few dozen meters high, but beneath the surface, it was overwhelmingly massive. Suddenly, both Wen Wen and his companion heard a low, immense call. Compared to this sound, the whale’s cry was as weak as a mosquito’s. In this dim illusionary realm, the sound sent shivers down their spines. Ben Bo’er and Bapoer trembled slightly in fear of the source of the sound. "I don’t know where this sound is coming from, but it’s certain that it originates from an unimaginably colossal entity." A few seconds later, the same sound echoed again, as Wen Wen listened carefully for its meaning, he suddenly widened his eyes, his body bristling in shock. It wasn’t a roar, but rather the unconscious snoring of a sleeping entity, and when Wen Wen tried listening more closely, every pore on his body resisted. It was the most primitive fear, ingrained in human DNA. Somewhere in this ocean lay an unparalleled, terrifying existence! Wen Wen glanced deeply behind him, into the pitch-black, boundless ocean, as if staring into the abyss. On this planet, land covers only a small fraction, and humanity’s understanding of the ocean is far from sufficient, so Wen Wen chose to offer basic reverence towards these boundless deep seas. Throughout the rest of the journey, Wen Wen lost some of his playful demeanor, his expression turning solemn. Yet, should there appear anything strange along the way, he would capture and freeze it, willing to try anything he hasn’t tasted. After proceeding for over an hour, the darkness gradually receded, and the water became clear, revealing a cerulean hue. Beautiful floating plants and vibrant, agile fish could be seen in the water; compared to the oppressive deep sea before, this place was like a human paradise. A stream of water danced lively in front of Wen Wen, blocking his path, but after displaying his Hunter Association badge, the stream vanished. Ben Bo’er and Bapoer pulled the rickshaw to the shore, and Wen Wen’s head emerged from the water, unable to suppress a sigh of admiration at the sight before him. Even though he had known beforehand about the picturesque scenery, he couldn’t help but clap in amazement. He felt a bit sorry for the other tourists; they weren’t fortunate enough to witness such beauty. Golden sand lightly spread along the shore, with a few coconut trees on the coast, behind which lay a vast forest filled with a myriad of flowers. Some were familiar to Wen Wen, while others were entirely new to him. In the sky were dozens of floating islands as vast as mountain ranges. Beneath some islands, waterfalls cascaded down, weaving multiple rainbows in the air—real rainbows rather than a unicorn’s colors. Each floating island had its own unique style; some were covered with red-leafed maple trees, others resembled large gardens, while a few were dotted with amusement facilities, akin to a playground. Aside from the giant floating islands, some plants also floated with soil clinging to their roots. Wen Wen even saw several furry little creatures treading on multicolored bubbles, floating past him. The air was sweet and refreshing, cleansing his soul with each breath inhaled. The sky was as clear and transparent as a large blue gemstone. Like the Mia Animal Kingdom, this place featured otherworldly terrains, but was undoubtedly more soul-stirring. This location was a hidden realm, inaccessible without passing through specific underwater passages. Ben Bo’er and Bapoer widened their thick fish lips, themselves underwater creatures, yet still astonished by this scene, only able to mutter, "So beautiful, so beautiful..." Tao Qingqing’s eyes curved into crescents, clutching her hands upon her chest, imagining how blissful life would be if she could reside here. Wen Wen stowed the two fishmen away, continuing to enjoy the scenery. After feasting his eyes, he took out a large skyrocket firework and lit it with a snap of his fingers. The skyrocket was as thick and long as Tao Qingqing’s thigh but remarkably coarse, with not a hint of smoothness, embodying a rugged style. Upon being launched into the sky, it produced a deafening boom, startling the birds and animals, causing them to flee the woods in a rush, making the place suddenly chaotic. Tao Qingqing covered her ears, gazing resentfully at Wen Wen. In such a wonderland, why did he have to ruin the peace ? Wen Wen retorted justifiably, "After such a loud noise, they will come looking for me, saving me the trouble of searching for them. By the way, they might come quite quickly, are you sure you want to meet them ?" Tao Qingqing glanced at her attire and shrieked, rushing behind a tree to dress before returning. "You women are strange, what’s there to hide? Why didn’t you feel embarrassed in swimwear..." Wen Wen grumbled while setting up a chair and a barbecue grill, beginning to cook the giant squid he caught on the way. It’s best to eat this fresh; it loses its flavor if frozen for too long.
