Outside, the banquet continued, and the people in the new room quickly dispersed, leaving only Lu Chengxiao behind.

Liu Yu nodded. Just as Lu Chengxiao was about to leave, Lu Shuang, Qin Shi, and Zhou Qiongying came in carrying trays. Qin Shi smiled and said, “No need for your third brother to fetch anything; I’ve already arranged it. You must be hungry, come and eat something.”

Lu Chengxiao thanked Qin Shi and the others, gave Liu Yu another look, and then left to offer toasts.

All the theoretical knowledge Liu Yu had learned was now blank in her mind. In the end, all she could do was whimper and cry.
Lu Chengxiao couldn’t bear to see Liu Yu frown, let alone cry. Yet, tonight, he broke that resolve. The boy’s eyes turned red, and every string of rationality snapped.

Lu Chengxiao got out of bed, went to the side room, and soon brought back Liu Yu’s clothes, handing them into the canopy. Liu Yu took the clothes and turned her back to dress, only seeing his vague silhouette through the curtains.
The rustling sounds made Lu Chengxiao’s ears burn, memories of last night rushing back. He didn’t dare look toward the bed for fear of losing control and hurting her again.
He cleared his dry throat awkwardly, “I’ll go to the side room to dress.”
Liu Yu looked back, watching him hurriedly take his clothes to the side room, a stark contrast to his boldness last night, making her smile.
