Carrying a Jurassic on me Chapter 26

26: Chapter 26 Slaying Pterosaur_1 26: Chapter 26 Slaying Pterosaur_1 Yan Fei, standing there on the road, naked and wet on the edge of the town’s river, looks completely idiotic. Luckily, he had chosen a particularly remote location. Not far away was a large rubbish heap emitting a foul smell, so no one would come along for a while. Rarely did Yan Fei’s mood and expression equally resemble idiocy. In the island’s forests, a terrifyingly fierce Pterosaur roared into the sky, while up above, numerous island pterosaurs were cheering and hollering. This Pterosaur couldn’t fly anymore… The only thought reeled in Yan Fei’s mind as he stared at the massive wound on the Pterosaur’s right wing and the countless tiny injuries from tree branches scraping across its body, it was… was like a dream. Kill it… Kill it… Kill it… Eat it… Eat it… Eat it… Yan Fei screamed internally until he thought of getting closer to observe the Pterosaur. Not until then did he suddenly remember that he was still standing by the river’s edge in town. By the time Yan Fei came back to his senses, he realized the Water on his body had been dried by the wind. Glancing at the time, it turned out that half an hour had passed; He was almost like possessed before. He took a cold sweat. Luckily there was no one on the road. Otherwise, kind-hearted people might have sent him to the mental hospital – that would have been a good outcome. If a malicious person had instead pushed him into the river, the consequences would have been unthinkable.… Hurriedly, he returned to the cave, lit a candle, found a pair of trousers to put on. Only then did he feel a bit safer. He wasn’t surprised to see pterosaurs flying in the sky before, or thought that some flying pterosaurs were even bigger than those on the island, including the huge mouths that pop out of the sea and pull the pterosaurs underwater. But, when he saw a large pterosaur up close, he was still shocked beyond words. Just the terrifyingly sharp and huge beak alone – Yan Fei thought he could easily fit several people his size inside; the tattered wings spreading out were so large that even two or three of his courtyards would not be enough. He used to think that his land by the lake was quite large, and the distance between the trees in the forest was enough to build small houses. But when the large Pterosaur descended, Yan Fei realized why he had never seen a Pterosaur fly into the woods – they were simply too big for his imagination. Those island Pterosaurs in the sky seemed to be having the time of their lives, hollering, and fluttering around back and forth all night long. Yan Fei was dumbfounded for most of the night. The grounded Pterosaur, filled with wounds and unable to fly again, crazily screamed at the Pterosaurs in the sky, trying to fly again with its tattered wings. The Pterosaurs cleared the sky, after which, the smelly blood attracted the Compsognathus. Unfortunately, these small creatures had forgotten the injured Pterosaurs they had once bullied, and a few Compsognathus got slapped away by its furious flapping wings. After several attempts and leaving a few of its dying companions behind, the small creatures that were hoping for an easy meal scattered away. The night was truly terrifying. Only when it began to dawn did Yan Fei wake up to the necessity of getting home quickly. He still felt afloat on his way back. He had wished to kill a Pterosaur for days now, and just when he thought it was a distant dream, he suddenly realized it was within reach: it felt freaking awesome. Even when his parents and younger brother came to “check up” on him and then left, Yan Fei was still grinning like an idiot. The injured Pterosaur on the island had quieted down. It had eaten a few overzealous Compsognathus that had wandered too close, but then it just lay there, still and quiet, until another group of reckless Compsognathus charged over. The result was, of course, they just fed the large Pterosaur. One day, two days, three days… The flightless Pterosaur was still as majestic as ever. After several “snacks” from the Compsognathus, they stopped coming. The Pterosaur continued to rest quietly, occasionally trying its wings but to no avail due to its heavy injuries and the thick woods around. Every night the forest would come alive with the sounds of Yan Fei’s howls and songs. With a long stick in hand, Yan Fei was hitting the trees around and singing, sometimes shaking his buttocks and dancing, sometimes moving like a Compsognathus. This was his idea to deal with this ferocious Pterosaur. The tall trees around it restricted the Pterosaur’s movement, making it difficult for it to move on the ground. Yan Fei kept trying to exhaust its strength, waiting for the day he could kill it. He would throw stones at the Pterosaur from a distance, even bought a bunch of fireworks to provoke it. Anytime he was free, he would come to the island to disturb it, preventing it from resting well. Yan Fei also “kindly” helped it drive away the Compsognathus that got too close, preventing it from regaining strength by eating them. Yan Fei’s plan to make money had been severely impacted by this Pterosaur. For several consecutive days, he had only caught two rabbits, planning to save them for his meals. This once vicious Pterosaur, which dominated the skies, seemed to have not many days left. Its injuries were really severe. Paired with Yan Fei’s incessant harassment, the Pterosaur no longer had the strength to lift its head even when the Pterosaurs on the island occasionally flew over to provoke it. It just let out a feeble roar. Yan Fei had become impatient. Now, the Pterosaur didn’t put up much of a fight when he threw firecrackers at it. Yan Fei felt that the time to kill the Pterosaur had come! Sharpen the knife, prepare the big hammer. The knife was a pig-killing knife, the hammer was a blacksmith’s hammer. He tightly tied the pig-killing knife to a metal stick. He wanted to create a long spear, but he didn’t have a spearhead, so he had to use a pig-killing knife as a substitute. Despite this, Yan Fei was still formidable, preparing to take down the enormous Pterosaur under the cover of night. The saying “fools rush in where angels fear to tread” seemed apt. This Pterosaur had reached the point where if he didn’t kill it, he wouldn’t be able to vent his impatience. Of course, the main reason was, Yan Fei was afraid that if the Pterosaur suddenly died, his plan would fall apart. He didn’t know if killing such a crippled and dying Pterosaur would directly change its appearance. In fact, he hadn’t thought much about this issue. He just remembered how fierce and menacing this Pterosaur used to be in the sky. He gripped the long spear, well, the long-handled pig-killing knife, prepared, entered the island, and stabbed! This was the first time he had come so close to the Pterosaur. The contrast between the massive body and huge beak of the Pterosaur and his own petite frame made him a bit nervous. Although he had managed to stab the Pterosaur in the neck, he missed slightly, and the knife slid off the neck before it could penetrate further. Fortunately, Yan Fei remembered that no matter whether the stab was effective or not, he should quickly retreat. He managed to return to his cabin in time, where he discovered that he had just left a small wound on the Pterosaur’s neck without even drawing blood. The Pterosaur had become so skinny that its skin was saggy and slack. Without properly exerted force, the knife could easily slip off. Getting ready again, he chose a spot clearly between the bones, gripped the long knife, and attacked once more! The sharp pig-killing knife finally stabbed the entire blade into the Pterosaur’s neck. Yan Fei, unable to contain his excitement, pushed harder. But before he could relish the successful stab, he noticed the Pterosaur’s head turning from the corner of his eye. Without a second thought, he immediately retreated to his room. Even so, upon reaching his room, Yan Fei stumbled and retreated several steps. He bumped into the bed, making it creak. If he had been a tad slower, he might have been thrown into the air. The Pterosaur, stabbed in the neck, struggled a few times before running out of energy. The pig-killing knife was stuck between the bones, with no blood oozing out. After clinging to life for so many days, it seemed the Pterosaur didn’t have any blood left to shed. After some thought, Yan Fei picked up the big hammer. The attacked Pterosaur was noticeably more alert. But when Yan Fei appeared and struck the metallic stick attached to the pig-killing knife with the hammer, he quickly disappeared. With a “crack” sound, the pig-killing knife was thrust half a foot deeper into the Pterosaur, but the handle of the knife couldn’t withstand the force of the hammer and broke off right at the handle. The dark purple blood flowed out. This injury incensed the Pterosaur completely. Perhaps it was its final struggle before death. It cried out hoarsely, its injured body rolling around in the forest, stirring up dirt. Branches and leaves flew around, darkening the surroundings. Unfortunately, its enemy had already left its space. Before long, it was completely powerless and collapsed on the ground. Between the opening and closing of its powerful beak, its hoarse cries gradually weakened. Yan Fei, holding the big hammer, re-entered and struck the place where the half pig-killing knife was embedded. The dull sound echoed as the hammer struck flesh. The Pterosaur let out a cry, tried to lift its head, but only managed to raise it slightly above the ground before it dropped again. One hammer strike, two, three… Yan Fei, wielding the big hammer, appeared and disappeared intermittently. Each strike landed accurately on the spot where the pig-killing knife was embedded in. Dark purple blood was flowing more and more. The Pterosaur, which was already unable to resist, let out a few weak cries. This once dominant ruler of the skies, the invincible king above the clouds, had completely lost the strength to uphold its dignity. In the end, all it had was instinctive twitching. A man with the heart to slay a dragon is as iron. No matter how prestigious the dragon was, it was now nothing more than prey beneath his hammer. The handle of the hammer in Yan Fei’s hand broke, and the hammerhead bounced out, landed on the ground with a thud. Accompanying the sound of the handle breaking, the neck of the Pterosaur also completely broke. After waiting for a while, Yan Fei gingerly prodded the Pterosaur, even pinched his own thigh in experiment. Pulling a face from the pain he finally confirmed — he had killed the Pterosaur. Gasping for breath, he sat down on the soft mud, looking at the lifeless Pterosaur that was bigger than he was. He grinned widely and began to laugh goofily.
