"I see, I have always noticed every change in mu surroundings since I was child" Amber said looking around till her eyes to stop/
She stared back at him, angry with herself for the way he made her feel, it was something like a movie. He was so tempting, sexy, intimidating, close too close even if he stood meters away. She couldn't handle being in a large room with him. It was like they were in his bathroom again. Kissing, holding each other.
Amber almost pinched herself from having such thoughts.
She felt like a sorry thumb between the walls of that grand house.
"You are acting like before again" Alex drawled, strolling around her towards the table in front of them where a letter sat over a glass plate. He opened it to reveal the invitation to his brother's wedding and shoved it back throwing it over the plate again.
"Acting like what?"
"As though, you would rather be somewhere else than here"
Amber huffed, looking away from his gaze, "This is just, a ridiculous idea"
"I suggest you move on from that, Its far too late to get second thoughts or what's that called-" He paused strolling back to her and invading her personal space, "Cold feet. You have nothing to worry about. Just be yourself. Your simple mind is what in more convincing than anything else" He said before grabbing the glass of water the butler offered them and taking a sip, watching Amber think through her thoughts.
It was a little after four that the light food had been prepared by their chef. From nowhere the memory of her apartment's little kitchen flashed across his mind. The way he leaned back on the counter and watched her from behind cooked for them both, watching her as he moved softly and waiting for her hands or waist to slightly brushing against him. It was an agonizing time.
"Even if you say so. I still have to worry about pleasing them. It not like I have nothing to worry about, I am the black sheep here"
She gulped down some water and looked at him cautiously. He was just sitting there, looking as beautiful as always. Why couldn't her imagination stop playing tricks on her mind like so? The thought of what they did in his office, on his couch, at his house. It didn't stop.
"Its going to be two weeks Amber" Alex said dirly. "For which you will be given what you deserve. A place to live a comfortable life and a job you love, you just have to trust me and smile. You are pretty, elegant an smart, I won;t be leaving you alone for any awkward situations to form. I am not asking you to flatter and father or his wife. I just need him to see that I have someone. That I value my personal life as much as my work"
"Pray tell...why does your father worry so much about your life outside of work. It is something to do with..the future or-"
Alex sighs looking up and smiled shaking his head, "Something different"
Alex's father was always a workaholic. He loved his work more than anything else in the world. So when the decision to find a women to marry came. He rejected the first women who had come to greet him with her family. She was Alex's mother. His mother were calm, collected, dicipline. Something not all the family memebers possessed. She was kind and at the same time ruthless in regards to subjects which intruded in her personal life to cause a havoc.
She was timid, innocent and someone who trusted her father the most until he betrayed his family living them to suffer. It wasn't until her aunt and uncle adopted her and her siblings that she got back on her feet. It was then she turned into a independent women who trusted no man. Until her mother introduced her to Alex's father.
His father and Mother had a histroy no other couple in their family had. And after love, his father was dedicated to her. He loved her more than his own life. And when she left, his life broke apart. He had no choice but to drown in the sorrows and continue working till he was asked to marry anotehr women for the sake of their family's furture. Alex, from chilhood was the child under many men's radar, including his own family.
The only heir to take the empire in his hand and inherite his father's everything.
