Nikolai had lit up a cigar by the time Angelo was carried in, he had expected this outcome. "Drop him on the bed and fuck off."
Jesse did as he was told, hot-footing the fuck out of the boss’ sex dungeon. The completely carpeted black-themed room was intimidating, he couldn’t be paid to spend more time than necessary.
Nikolai stared at Angelo, the Beta would wake up soon. He didn’t need to wait but he wanted to see Angelo’s reaction to the ’safe room’.
He wasn’t disappointed because soon pale green eyes were staring right up at him. Nikolai blew out a cloud of smoke, "You’re coming with me to a function tonight." He said decisively.
Angelo didn’t seem to hear him because the Beta was slowly looking around. He propped himself up on his elbows, panic swirling in his eyes as he took in the room.
The room was usually dimly lit but Nikolai had turned on all of the lights so that Angelo could get a good look, he could almost say he had seen a shudder run through the assassin.
"How is this a safe room?" Angelo gritted out.
He could feel leather straps going crisscross on the bed under him, there were several shelves with a variety of things on display. Whips, gags, handcuffs, and other strange types of restraints he had never seen before.
A contraption hung from the ceiling in another corner, it looked like medieval torture device, with varying lengths of leather straps clearly intended to keep a person suspended mid-air.
The more Angelo looked around, the colder he got. He felt nauseous, panic clawing his throat bloody.
"No windows." Nikolai said bluntly. It wasn’t just about the windows, it was also because he knew that Angelo was averse to anything concerning sex so he knew that the assassin would sit still till he returned.
Angelo felt like biting off his tongue, he really should have let himself go while hanging outside the window, then things wouldn’t have gotten to this point.
Nikolai pointed at a landline when Angelo didn’t say anything more. If looks could kill, he would have been dead many times over from the look the Beta shot him. "If you need anything, just call." He said dismissively, turning around to leave.
This time, Angelo heard the unmistakable sound of the heavy door clicking, indicating that he had been locked inside. He sat up in disbelief, he couldn’t believe that Nikolai would go as far as to do this.
Anger bubbled up like a clogged stream. He rarely ever felt angry, all he knew how to feel was bitterness, cold hatred, and pure undiluted fear, but now he was upset. He would trash the room but he couldn’t bring himself to get off the bed, he was pinned to the bed by his deep-seated fear.
Davian shot Rosie a look of disapproval through the rearview mirror. There was enough time today so he was driving his mate home so he could cook lunch for him. Rosie had asked to tag along and Lake had been all too eager to accept.
Davian wouldn’t have minded if Lake wasn’t sitting in the back with Rosie. He glared at the secretary for the umpteenth time and all she did was blatantly ignore him again, her fiery-colored hair peeking into her tab that she had given to Lake.
"There’s a small village at the entrance to the island," Lake was saying as he tapped on the screen of the digital tab. "There’s a lot of gift shops and even an amusement park, we’ll have to visit a couple of times..."
When they got to the mansion, they went right to the kitchen, and after a few minutes, Lake excused himself to go to the bathroom.
Davian narrowed his eyes at Rosie who had been seated right next to Lake before his mate left. "You need a boyfriend," He said bluntly. He was in an apron with gloves on, chopping vegetables on a chopping board at the counter.
Rosie bit back a smile, "I’ve already got one. I’m married to my job."
Davian was unimpressed by this response. If getting Rosie a partner was what he needed to do so he could win this tug-of-war over his mate, then he would gladly play matchmaker.
"Is there anyone at the company you get along with?" He went right on like he hadn’t heard Rosie’s words.
"That bastard fucks anything that moves, if he comes near you, there’ll be nothing left of him to bury." Davian said gruffly, chopping hard enough to leave dents on the wooden board.
Rosie hid her smile behind a hand, she already knew what her Mafia King’s response would be, and that was why she had mentioned him.
"Already a dead man. He owes too many dangerous people debts."
"A cokehead." Davian muttered, his expression getting darker with each name Rosie mentioned. "You’ve got shit taste in men."
"I told you, I’m not interested in men," She shrugged.
Rosie had called those names on purpose to dissuade Davian from trying to hook her up with someone.
"Women then? Or friends?"
Rosie’s expression brightened, "I made friends with Patty when we went camping."
Davian zeroed in on this, "Then take the rest of the day off to go hang out with her."
"You couldn’t pay me to do that." She told him bluntly, rising to her feet. "Lake has been gone a while, I’ll go check up on him."
"I heard my name," Lake popped into the doorway then, walking in with gold clips in his hair.
"Rosie was saying how it’s been a while since she had seen Patty." Davian lied glibly before Rosie could even get an edge word in.
Lake bought it right away, "Then you’ll take the rest of the day off so you can go hang out with her, no room for buts." He quickly said.
Rosie couldn’t believe what she was hearing, were they telepathic? Was that why Lake said the exact same thing that Davian had told her?
"We’ll drop you off at Cas’ place on our way back to FluxCorp." Lake went right on after sufficiently silencing Rosie, his eyes bright.
Rosie soft cheeks were rounded as she pouted knowing that it was a losing battle so she didn’t even bother to fight. Now more that ever, she felt like they treated her like their teenage daughter.
