The next day after the festival was a slow one, it was a Sunday, a well-needed break before the new week began.
He could finally get enough free time for a lengthy phone call with his friend, but it turned out that there was no need to because the Omega was about to be his way to visit.
Lake was honestly impressed at how Caspian had managed to convince Asher, only for his friend to drop the other shoe.
Asher was also coming along.
He could hear the exasperation in Caspian’s voice. The only thing delaying Caspian from coming right over was the insistence of Asher to tag along.
So his friend wanted him to ask Davian so that the other Mafia King could turn his mate down.
That was why Lake was currently on his way to the kitchen, they had both slept in and Davian wanted to cook breakfast so they had settled for light cereal while the Alpha busied himself with a late breakfast.
"That smells really good," He complimented as he walked in.
Davian positively glowed, the Alpha less jumpy about his presence in the kitchen while he cooked. "Thanks. Did you need something?"
"Well, Caspian is coming over," He started with the good news.
Davian had no issues with the Omega, "Is he going to eat breakfast too?"
"I don’t know, but he’s coming along with Asher." He took the plunge.
Davian looked thoughtful at that, "That’s fine," He accepted after a short pause.
Lake gawked, "It is?"
"Yeah," Davian turned down the heat on the stove to give him his full attention. "If I’m going to be your assistant at Caspian’s wedding, I’m also going to need to go over to Asher’s place." He said casually.
That made a lot of sense to Lake but he was still stunned at how easily Davian had agreed to it.
"I’m not cooking for him though," Davian grumbled, turning back to the stove.
Lake just headed to the door with a smile, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Caspian, you’re not going to believe what Davian said," He said in a rush to his friend after calling the Omega back.
"I think I’ll find it very believable," Caspian said dryly.
"Davian said Asher could come over..."
While he was saying that, Caspian was also speaking. "I’ll just let Asher know that... Wait what?"
"I was just as shocked but Davian wants to be my assistant while I plan your wedding."
Caspian’s response was unrestrained laughter, "I really really want to see that... hold on, I’ll go let Asher know, we’ll be over soon."
Lake knew that Caspian would have no issues with that, Asher would have been the harder one to convince.
But if both Mafia Kings were willing to tolerate each other then it just might work out.
Davian was still busy in the kitchen when Caspian and Asher showed up, the Alpha was taking his time experimenting with new recipes.
It wasn’t like either of them were starving so Lake let him do whatever he liked.
Lake had another hairband in his hair, one with a checkered soft pink pattern, and as Caspian threw himself in his arms, he caught sight of it, crystal blue eyes sparkling.
"That’s a really pretty hairband."
Pink wasn’t really Lake’s color and he had an entire drawer full of the accessories, "You want it?"
"I’ll get a matching one," Caspian said instead, beaming.
Lake didn’t know how to tell him that regardless of what color or pattern Caspian went for, he probably already had a matching one.
As his friend stepped back from their hug, he looked past Caspian to see Asher standing awkwardly behind him.
It was just the two of them this time, Caspian’s bodyguards didn’t show up but just Asher’s presence was enough to send the men manning the gate into high alert.
"Come right in," He invited them both, a smile on his face.
"Where’s Davian?" Asher spoke for the first time, his tone gruff.
"In the kitchen cooking," Lake said without missing a beat.
"Cooking?"The both of them spoke at the same time, Caspian sounding excited at the prospect of someone cooking, while Asher was horrified.
"We can go say hi to him," Lake suggested, already leading the way up the stairs.
Caspian was right next to him, "Davian can cook?" The Omega asked eagerly, wanting to know more.
"He just started but he’s really good, he’s also taking cooking classes."
Caspian’s blue eyes sparkled brighter with every word he spoke, eager to get to the kitchen now.
Asher didn’t share his enthusiasm, still trying to wrap his head around the image of the other Mafia King doing any domestic chore.
Lake knocked lightly on the kitchen door, waiting until Davian opened it. "I brought company, do you mind?"
Davian looked past him to an excited Caspian and a queasy Asher, taking a step back. "I’m almost done," He muttered, silently giving the go-ahead for their two visitors to come into the kitchen.
"That smells divine," Caspian gushed, walking right up to Davian without reservations. "Lake told me you’re learning to cook, so am I..."
He stuck close to the Alpha who went over to the stove, chatting his ear off about the new recipes he wanted to try.
Davian quickly warmed up to the conversation, he was still just as quiet and reserved but he was letting Caspian look directly at what he was cooking up, which was a lot of progress in such a short time.
This left Lake with Asher, the two of them perched on the counter.
"How did you get him to cook for you?" Asher asked with something akin to awe.
Lake snorted, "I didn’t, he keeps insisting on doing the cooking. He won’t even let me touch a pan."
"...want to try baking a..." Caspian’s voice intruded on their conversation, catching Lake’s attention.
He didn’t like the direction of their conversation because it wouldn’t bode well for him if Davian learned how to bake anything.
"Did you convince him to let me come over?" Asher brought his attention back to their conversation, his tone quiet.
