Caspian could just get into bed beside him, and a maid was sure to clear out the dishes without him needing to lift a finger.
But it wasn’t about clearing out their dishes, it was about checking up on Jael.
He had a feeling that after rolling over the Beta just went right back to sleep.
Caspian didn’t mind mundane chores , and he felt a sense of satisfaction taking care of Asher.
The Alpha always did it for him by taking him to bed whenever he fell asleep, he liked when they shared the responsibilities.
The time, he opened Jael’s door without knocking, catching the Beta standing with his tray in his hand, about to take it to the kitchen by himself no doubt.
"I’ll take that, thank you." Caspian said firmly, snatching the empty tray out of his hands.
It was covered but it felt empty, so it meant that Jael had really eaten it all.
"Goodnight Jael," He said to the Beta as he walked to the door before he could stop him, pushing his tray out.
He bumped into a maid just at the end of the hallway who was horrified to find him pushing a tray.
He let her take the tray from him now, already done with all he had to do.
It was still early evening, so he wasn’t sleepy, but he wasn’t going to miss the chance to lay next to Asher.
Caspian wondered if Asher would have to leave early like he had done that morning, and it worried him that he might not see the Alpha awake.
Because he would be asleep by the time Asher woke up, and the day he just had would be repeated.
He still hadn’t gotten the chance to talk to Asher, and he doubted he would tonight.
Caspian took a shower as well before getting in bed, the night was warm, but his feet were cold.
It had been a while since he wore his favorite pair of fuzzy socks, but he couldn’t find them, and he was in a hurry.
So, he grabbed a random pair, it was made of a light material so he thought that it would be perfect for such a warm night.
It wasn’t until he pulled them on did he realize that they were far longer than he initially thought, going well past up his shins where he thought they would stop.
The lacy trim on the socks instead rested on his thighs, but he already had them on now and he was too impatient to take them off and wear something else.
He wore Asher’s shirts to sleep as often as he could, and it helped that the Alpha had too many of them.
It however meant that the shirts he wore wear brand new and didn’t even carry even a bit of Asher’s shirt.
But he was fine with them despite that, just the knowledge that he was wearing the Alpha’s clothes was more than enough for him.
He wore shorts underneath the oversized shirt, finally heading for bed.
Caspian had gotten dressed in a hurry, mismatching buttons in his haste and nearly tripping as he hurriedly put the socks on.
All of that was forgotten the moment he got on the bed because Asher pulled him close like he wasn’t fast asleep.
There was no need for a blanket because the Alpha acted like a heated blanket with how warm and tightly wrapped around him, he was.
When Asher held him , it was easy to forget that he had clothes on. The Alpha’s familiar scent sank into his sink as Asher tucked his face in his neck.
Caspian hadn’t planned to fall asleep so early, but it was difficult not to, Asher’s deep breathing was so calming.
It did take a while to fall asleep though, feeling so content and peaceful that it felt like he might melt into the bed.
Asher was the first to wake up, sunlight peeking from behind the curtains.
He immediately tightened his arms around Caspian the moment he was conscious, ready to go right back to sleep for another day.
He had left his phone in the car so if his second-in-command tried to interrupt his sleep again, he had another thing coming for him.
Although he knew that if it was important enough, the Beta would come banging at his door.
Considering that he had managed to sleep through the night, he doubted that Jael would even be awake yet.
They both deserved the day off for the crap they had to put up with the day before.
Caspian squirmed in his hold, and he glanced down to see if he had woken up.
He hadn’t. He was still fast asleep despite the furrow in his brow, damp tendrils of his hair sticking to his sleeping face.
Asher let him go and watched him slowly roll away, the familiar shirt he wore getting rucked up with the movement.
He winced at the realization that Caspian was overheated because he had held him captive all night.
Wearing the shirt that stuck to his body in damp patches definitely didn’t help as well, the sleeves covering his fingers as he starfished to cool down.
It was adorable that Caspian insisted on wearing his shirts, but they would have to find alternatives until it got cooler.
Asher had only worn sweatpants and even that had felt like too much. He rose to his feet to turn the temperature further down, and maybe open the windows.
He glanced down at Caspian as he did, the Omega had honestly worn too much- His thoughts about Caspian being overdressed to bed ground to a halt.
He had to shake his head to remind himself of what he had been about to do before noticing the lace trimmed socks Caspian wore.
It was such a simple task, turn the thermostat down, but he had a difficult time focusing, his thoughts filled with lace against pale skin.
Asher managed it somehow, relieved that he hadn’t done the opposite and increased the temperature of the room instead.
He didn’t return to the bed, going to take a shower this time. Kinks had a way of coming to bite you in the ass when you least expected.
But it was hardly his fault, it was two of his favorite things together, Caspian and lingerie, even if the lingerie was really tame.
Caspian woke up while he was in the bathroom, startled for a moment because he immediately came to the conclusion that he had overslept like he always did, and Asher had long gone to work.
He shivered slightly, the room was colder than he remembered it being, and his human blanket was gone.
Asher’s side of the bed was still warm though like he hadn’t been gone very long.
Caspian crawled on his hands and knees to Asher’s side, burying his face in the Alpha’s pillow while tucking his knees under himself.
He had hoped that yesterday would be the last time Asher would be so busy, but it seemed like today would be a repeat of the last two days.
Although they slept beside each other every night, Caspian found that he missed Asher a lot.
He turned his head to the side and shimmied around to get more comfortable in his position, not wanting to move away because he knew that Asher’s scent would fade away soon.
The door opening without warning startled him badly, he jumped and whipped around to find Asher standing in front of the bathroom door with a towel in hand and another wrapped around his waist.
Caspian got over his shock so fast, rocketing off the bed and into Asher’s wet arms, "I thought you had gone off to work," He beamed.
Asher tried to pry him off, "Babe- shit, you’ll get wet."
Caspian was hardly listening, pulling away without losing his smile. "I’ll go shower too, don’t go anywhere."
Asher turned around in time to catch him disappearing into the bathroom, an unconscious smile on his face as he patted dry the water on his neck.
He had merely considered staying back but with how excited Caspian had been about it, he just might make it happen.
And if he couldn’t, he would try to take the morning off at the very least.
A knock on the front door wasn’t at all surprising, even less so when it was Jael and not a maid doing routine clean up.
"You look like you slept great," Asher said with laughter in his voice, stepping back to let Jael in.
"Because your mate stuffed me last night," Jael grumbled, unable to hide the soft light in his eyes despite his complaining words.
"I’ll have him to thank then that I got to sleep in."
Jael said nothing to that, because he had also slept in. "There’s a shipment of new weapons coming in today, we’ve got to oversee it in person." He said to the Alpha.
Asher bit back a groan as he was reminded of that, dealing with the gang for the past few days had made him forget.
