"How did you know it was Tiago?" We were in the car driving back to her place. Imaani offered since mine was trashed.
"Caught him slacking. I guess he's not as smart as I thought. The day they sent the message to me. I saw Tiago and Veronica talking, at the back gate of my warehouse. I guess he assumed the cameras there were still spoilt, but I had them fixed a long time ago and the topic just never came around for me to tell any of them." My hand rests on her thigh "I didn't think about it too much till I received the message.
"Then he texted me his plan on a burner phone when he found out his was bugged" Micheal added
"I knew Veronica was going to try and get to Micheal, use his loss or something else against him. And I was correct, she used Vanessa. After that was done, I went to his house, and like we planned the lawyer was there, and we argued. I pretended to get angry and walk out. It was all a ruse. Micheal had recorded our entire staged fight for them to hear, and luckily they were dumb enough to fall for it."
"All I had to do was show Veronica that I was on their side." Micheal explained to Imaani "I didn't know Christopher was alive till I saw him, I can't believe how well I was able to compose myself"
I hummed "I left Micheal's house and drove somewhere, I hated the idea of what I was going to have to do to you. It made me sick just thinking of it." I looked at Imaani "I never meant a word I said, at all. It was all for the show, Veronica could hear everything from the bugged phone"
"You could have told me. I could have helped" She faces me.
"I wanted to baby, but it had to be believable. And I knew you'd come to my place if you suspected something was wrong, I told him" I refer to Mateo and he just nods and continues typing on his phone. Texting Sarah, he had one of his men take her home. But that's what she thinks, she's going to his home.
"I did. I was surprised because we didn't have any arguments, and you just stopped replying to my texts, and next thing we're breaking up"
"I'm sorry baby. Thank you for coming after me" I kiss her cheek
"Any time." Her soft voice soothes me
"We're going to go after them, you know that right?" I tell her, referring to her mother and Faye
"If you're talking about Faye and my mother, you don't have to. I'll handle it" She smiles wickedly
I place my hand on her cheek and face her "I want to. I'll do anything for you, love" I hold her face in my hands and kiss her. Completely ignoring the two unwanted company
Together, we wreak havoc on those who have caused us pain.
I hated the audience with us.
I have no idea why it never occurred to them to bring separate cars or just fucking walk. I don't care. "I dunno why you fucks couldn't just take an Uber"
Imaani squeezed my hand "Be nice!" She chided playfully
She rests her head on my shoulder and smiles "I'm being nice" I smile at her even though she can't see me
My heart hammers rapidly in my chest for this woman, daily. Whether she's in my presence or not, the mere thought of her has me in a chokehold. It feels like magnets dancing around us, pulling us together, making us one.
I thought I loved Veronica, but I feel like using that word to describe my feelings for Imaani is an insult. Because it doesn't even compare to half of it neither is it enough to describe it?
My feelings for Imaani cannot be put into words, because the perfect description has not been created.
But I'll wait. In this life or if there is a next, then I'll wait there also. Till the perfect words for a goddess like her, have been created.
She makes me believe in soulmates because she's mine.
I'd go to different lengths for this woman.
My woman.
Mine.
And she was going to remain that way as long as she'd allow. She was either mine or no one else's.
And if a time ever came when she didn't anymore, I'd kill every man who ever showed interest in her or think they could have her, until she takes me back.
She's mine and I'm hers. Those are the only options I've got to offer.
I'd burn the world down for her if it means she survives and I get to live the rest of our days by her side.
The car comes to a stop and I realize that we've gotten to Mateo and Michael's stop.
Fucking finally!
Mateo comes down and nods at both of us, was never a man of many words anyway.
"Bye Micheal, have a nice day" I smile at Imaani. I knew she was feeling bad for having murderous thoughts towards Micheal
"Thank you" I turned to Micheal, and he just smiled and nodded before closing the door
"Enough space finally!"
Immani laughs "I don't think the space was ever your problem"
"They should have walked," I say honestly
"They're your friends, shut up" we laugh
"How do you know Christopher?" I have to know
"He was lost on my street, or so I thought. And I gave him directions"
"Did he-
"No baby, he didn't do or say anything to me" I kiss her knuckles and continue playing with her hair while she lays her head on my chest.
She lifts her head to look at me "Can I ask you something?"
"You can ask me whatever you want with your head still on my chest" She gives me a look. I chuckle "Okay baby.
"Why didn't you let me say it?" The car comes to a stop in front of Imaani's house
I know what she's talking about.
"Because I wanted to be the first one to say it"
"You feel the same way?" Did she just ask me this
"Of course, I do, for a while now actually. I just had to man up and say it to you" I caress her cheek slowly
She smiles, her eyes glistening with tears. I wipe it away "It doesn't matter who says it first you know" she sniffs
I nod "Don't cry, baby."
"I'm not sad, they're tears of joy" She sniffs and laughs
"I hate seeing you cry, happy tears or not"
"I know baby, I know" She wipes her eyes and kisses me
I pull away and my eyes peer down at her lips before I raise my eyes to hers "I love you Imaani, a lot more than mere words can explain. You define me, and I won't have any other person, I'd rather spend my life with"
Her bottom lip juts out and quivers a little "I love you baby" I kiss her cheeks, wiping the fallen tears away with the pad of my thumb
"Say it again baby" I cross her over my thigh to sit
Her hands stay flat on my chest "I love you, Jaxon"
"C'mere baby" I kiss her, with so much vigor. And I hope it carries the message of everything I can't put into words and say to her.
This woman was my reason to live.
My reason to breathe.
She pulls away "Let's go in, we have a busy day tomorrow"
She empowers me just like I empower her.
She knows not the lengths I would go to for her, but tomorrow she'd see.
I would make everyone who has hurt her worship at her feet.
For they are beneath her.
