"SO YOU DIDN'T LET HIM TELL YOU because you thought he was lying or because you thought it might just be a phase?" Sarah asked as she placed her spoon in the cereal bowl she just finished eating from, then turned to look at me
"I mean, I dunno i-i can't say you know. Like I said we didn't do that much talking so i-"
"Yeah, because you didn't let him talk, at least that's what you told me"
"Sarah, I'm just a bit scared I guess. I mean if he tells me how he supposedly feels, it changes everything, only to later find out it's not real or like you said earlier a phase. I don't think I can risk it"
"I understand what you're saying baby, but this man is someone you like isn't he? You deserve to be happy too, no matter what kinda thoughts you're having tryna discourage you otherwise" She moved closer to me and placed her head on my shoulder
We were currently at my place, sitting on the couch watching a movie and talking about Jax, I guess.
"I dunno Sarah, I know I like him, I mean I dunno, but at least I think I'm liking him more, you know. Like the more time we spend together and I get to know him and whatnot. But this part of me can't help but feel like, he can't like me back. as if it's not possible"
Sarah exhaled and pulls me closer "Oh baby, it's normal to have doubts, but one thing I won't accept is doubting you. That is unacceptable. You're a gorgeous woman Imaani, a goddess and my best friend. Any man you end up with is the lucky one, not you. So chin up and never doubt yourself, ever again" She pulls me into a hug and we just stay that way for minutes without uttering a single word.
"Thank you, So much, i-i needed that"
"Maybe next time when you guys hang out you can finally let him tell you instead of fucking each other's brains out"
I gasp "Saraah!" I exclaim as I hit her arm lightly "You can't say- my phone rings "sorry excuse me"
"Hello, William" I laugh as I remember how he told me I usually pick up calls with my business voice.
"Never knew you found me funny" he laughs along with me
"Well since I found out you like your pizza with pineapple, I consider you a joke" we laugh together again at my statement
"Well damn, I can't afford that now, can we Ms Cyrus?"
"Not at all, Mr Hague."
He chuckled into the phone
"How are you doing?"
I'm good, just hanging out with Sarah and watching our favourite shows. You know, the usual"
"Hm, from what I've gathered, the usual normally involves you, Sarah, and a lot of junk food and drinks, am I right?" He was correct
"Ahh, you know me so well, Mr Hague" I laugh along with him
William and I, after our short dinner, hung out a couple of times. Either at work or when I'm getting coffee. I might have even promised to invite him over one day so I can cook a nice dinner, but I'm sure by now he's already realized how lazy I am.
He might have even subtly mentioned it on one of our nights, texting. We joke around each other a lot, and it's so relaxing and beautiful to just have another friend that gets me and my not-so-horrible jokes.
"Yeah I know right, I feel like you should pay me for everything" He snorts, trying to hold back his laugh
"Oh yeah, pay a millionaire? I still can't imagine why you're working" I scoff playfully
"As I told you, darling, I like being occupied"
"Yes sir. I just bowed through the phone just so you know" I reply jokingly
"Why, thank you my loyal guide. you'll be rewarded heavily with your favourite meal"
"Fuck you! Just so you know I only keep you around for your food" I smile
"I knew it! I fucking knew it. I need to go, I've got to go mend my broken heart" he sniffles
I stifle a laugh and play along "I'm so sorry you had to find out this way, I planned to tell you, it's just that I don't see us as anything more, but after tasting your food, I changed my mind."
"Wow, so you've been using me? all these while?" He sniffled again and it sounds like he was having a hard time containing his laughter
"I'm sorry please don't hate me, I'll miss your cooking" I plead
"I just found out my friend has been using me, I'm gonna go jump from a bridge now, excuse me please," he exclaims and that does it for me, I start laughing heavily along with William.
"God, we're crazy" I chuckle
"Hey uh Immani- sorry hold on" it sounds like someone walked in "Your medication, master Hague," the voice in the background says

Is he sick?
I suddenly feel uncomfortable like I'm intruding on a private conversation, part of me wants to hear what's wrong with him. But I'm going to do the right thing and let him tell me when he's ready.
I end the call and shoot him a text, saying Sarah was kinda mad I kept her waiting but we'll text later tonight if possible.
"Hey lover girl" Sarah winks at me when I step into view
"Shutup I'm not in love, and that was William"
"Damn, you got two men and I can't even keep one" She exclaims and we both laugh
Because we both know that was a lie, She knows very well that she pushes them away when she's tired or bored.
Classic Sarah.
"Shutup! How's Mateo?"
I haven't heard her mention him in the past few days we've been hanging out.
Yeah, and I finally found out he's the guy from the vacation, Jax's driver.
"It's complicated" She replies shortly, but I can see in her eyes that it's bothering her.

I move closer to her and stroke her hair gently "It's okay baby, tell me everything"
Sarah and I barely talk about any of her relationships mostly because they don't last and because she can be very private.
I try to respect that part but I also let her know that I'm her best friend and can't help or do shit if I don't know shit.
"The vacation was fucking expensive, I mean very expensive for someone who says all he does is being a driver. I dunno if you get me"
"I do baby" I continue stroking her hair as she talks, silently letting her know she can continue her conversation
"I asked him about everything, the place we stayed and all, it was confusing because he told me himself that he is just a driver and the pay is not that big, so how the fuck was he able to pay for all that shit Imaani. You need to have been there babe, worst part was he won't even let me help out financially. Saying he wants to do it, and he doesn't care"
Men and their fucking pride.
"I dunno maybe I'm being paranoid or crazy but he's too secretive and i-i don't think I want that for myself again" she sniffles
She's talking about her ex Trevor, turns out the douchebag was gay with a husband and three kids. She found out after four months of them being together.
"It's okay, baby. do you want us to slash his tires or beat him up together? Maybe that will help you feel better a little"
She laughs" that's not your style"
"I know, but you're my girl, I'd make it my style for that day if I could"
"I love you, Imaani" she replied almost quietly
"I love you too, baby. Always" I get up slowly from the couch so as not to wake her and to go get a blanket to cover her.
My phone buzzed in my hand and I assume it was William replying to my message
"Let me take you out to dinner tonight."
Okay, so that's not William.
I read the message but don't reply, to be honest I have no idea what to even say.
I grab the blanket and make my way back to the living room to cover her, good thing for her that this couch is big and comfortable.
"You know it notifies me when you've read my message right?"
Well damn.
