In those ten minutes, word spread all around Qing University. From then on, no female teachers sent snacks over to Bo Xichen again.
Only after Gu Anxi returned to the library did she realize what had happened—she had asked for a salary.
She had made her bold request while sitting on the couch. Bo Xichen walked straight over to her, slightly lowered his head, and leaned very close to her.
Gu Anxi could feel the warmth of his breath on the tip of her nose and instinctively backed away.
Bo Xichen seemed to chuckle softly. "If I take care of you, shouldn’t you also pay me a bit of a salary?"
Gu Anxi stared at him, then suddenly lurched back, her head thudding against the back of the couch.
Bo Xichen stood up straight and laughed. "Pretty clumsy."
After that, he went on with his own business as if nothing had happened.
Gu Anxi rubbed her head, staying silent.
What had happened that day was conveniently forgotten. Bo Xichen was still kind to her without being overly intimate. However, rumors about them being an item circulated around the campus.
Gu Anxi rested her head on the desk, twirling a pen, feeling somewhat bored.
Chu Yan, beside her, was gossiping, "What do you and Professor Bo do when you’re together? I heard from Old Wang, the French teacher, that you even nap at Professor Bo’s place."
Gu Anxi stared at the spinning pen. When it stopped, she turned to Chu Yan and said, "I’m a student in Professor Bo’s laboratory."
Chu Yan drew out an "Oh," then asked with great interest, "Gu Anxi, I heard you’re really good at coding."
Someone else chimed in, "She even cracked Hacker W."
At this point, Lin Qi remarked nonchalantly, "Hacker W isn’t that impressive if even Gu Anxi could crack him."
Chu Yan’s lips twitched slightly, her expression one of someone at a loss for words.
She forced a laugh. "Perhaps he isn’t that impressive!"
After she finished speaking, Gu Anxi cast a glance at her. Chu Yan’s lips twitched again, and then she offered a fake laugh.
Gu Anxi stood up. Chu Yan called out, "Where are you going!"
Gu Anxi had already shouldered her bag. "To Professor Bo’s place."
All the female classmates were dying of envy. Gu Anxi got to see Professor Bo every day! She was a good sport, though, and even helped deliver their love letters to him.
At three in the afternoon, Gu Anxi arrived at the library. As usual, Bo Xichen was engrossed in medical literature, wearing his customary black shirt.
The afternoon sun shone around him, highlighting his tall figure, making him appear as divine as a classical statue. He was so strikingly handsome that one couldn’t help but steal a few extra glances.
Gu Anxi sat opposite him and pulled out a thick stack of pink envelopes from her bag. "Uncle, these are all for you."
Bo Xichen glanced at her, then picked up the envelopes and began to look through them one by one. He commented casually, "You call me Uncle, yet you’re helping others send love letters to me?"
His long fingers deftly picked out one envelope.
The recipient was Gu Anxi.
Gu Anxi picked it up and looked at it. Then she retorted coolly, "Just because I call you Uncle, I can’t deliver love letters for you?"
Bo Xichen smiled warmly. "By the way, accompany me to the airport to pick someone up later."
Gu Anxi didn’t ask who they were picking up. After all, she was getting paid for this.
Bo Xichen grabbed his jacket, took two steps, then paused. "It’s an elder from Beicheng. We’ll have dinner together."
Gu Anxi nodded. Ever since Bo Xichen had started a new research project, she followed all his instructions.
In the parking lot, a low-key yet luxurious white sports car was parked, surrounded by many chattering students.
"This car is so cool! It must cost several million, right?" one student exclaimed.
"Several million? This is a limited edition McLaren; there are only four in the whole world! It costs over twenty million," another corrected.
Lin Qi looked at Shen Wanqing and said, "I heard Senior Qin got a new car. Is this his?"
Shen Wanqing tossed her hair and replied nonchalantly, "He hasn’t mentioned it to me, but it probably is."
In her mind, she was certain the car belonged to Qin Siyuan. After all, who else at Qing University could afford such an expensive vehicle?
Just as the students were engrossed in their discussion, Bo Xichen arrived with Gu Anxi.
A murmur went through the students: "Ah! It’s Professor Bo!"
Bo Xichen, always gentle and polite, gave a slight nod before heading towards the extravagant car, Gu Anxi following behind him.
Bo Xichen quite naturally opened the car door and got in. Gu Anxi didn’t move. He poked his head out and said, "Gu Anxi, get in."
