Wang Keru’s heart faltered; she was actually a little afraid of such a gaze.

Wang Keru smiled. She looked at Gu Anxi. "Your father isn’t going to wake up. What good would it do if I visited? Gu Anxi, people have to look forward. Look, after marrying your Uncle Qin, I can provide your dad with the best treatment. Without me, he would’ve been kicked out of the hospital long ago."
"I’ll take care of it," Gu Anxi said softly.
Wang Keru sneered, "You’ll take care of it? Gu Anxi, what do you have to take care of it with? Isn’t the ’taking care of it’ you’re talking about just the fifty million taken from the Qin family?"
In her heart, that fifty million was still from the Qin family.
She probably had no idea what it meant to earn a living by one’s own abilities.
Gu Anxi didn’t want to argue with her. She leaned against the wall, and Wang Keru reached out to grab her again.
Just then, a nurse passed by, glanced at them, and said sternly, "There’s an examination in progress inside. Don’t stand around here pulling and shoving; it will disturb Dr. Bo."
Wang Keru understood. She looked at her daughter, her expression frosty. "What is your relationship with that doctor?"
"No relationship!" Gu Anxi turned her face away.
Wang Keru’s temper flared. "You’d better not let me find out you have some shady relationship with him! I’ve seen plenty of men who sponge off women like that. Don’t you get fooled."
The nurse couldn’t listen any longer. "What ’sponge off women’? Ma’am, you need to get your facts straight! Dr. Bo is the head of Yunxi Hospital. His family owns hundreds of Yunxi Hospitals across the country! Get it clear, Dr. Bo wouldn’t even be interested in the kind of ’support’ your family could offer!"
Although the words were blunt, Gu Anxi couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
The nurse also smiled at her, then pushed open the operating room door and went inside.
Wang Keru was seething, but her attitude shifted in an instant. She coughed lightly. "Is what she said true?"
Gu Anxi idly kicked at the floor. "I don’t know. Maybe she was just making it up."
Wang Keru asked probingly, "Then... what is your relationship with him?"
"The relationship between a patient’s family and the doctor," Gu Anxi replied, a rare instance of her actually answering her mother.
Wang Keru was both angry and disappointed, but she had her own little calculations. She decided not to ask about the school incident for the time being and see how Gu Anxi would resolve it.
Wang Keru left the medical building. In the end, she still didn’t go to see Gu Yuntian. She just sat in her car and leaned her head back... a dazed look in her eyes.
