I fall back into Josephine's arms as my heartaches. Sage. My Sage. Mumma is going to be so disappointed with me. I couldn't take care of my Sage. I couldn't protect her.
" Now please calm down and listen here," he says softly sitting on his chair and picking up a white paper.
" According to the test we've run on her till now, she has suffered genital injuries, her left shoulder is dislocated, her left ankle is broken, three ribs are broken, the right wrist is broken, severe head injury, and her right arm is also fractured. There are multiple stabs on her thighs and abdomen which can be made from a dagger or sharp object."
" She also suffered from bacterial vaginosis, chlamydial infection, trichomoniasis, these aren't quite good since her body is young and weak. There is also sadly a great amount of 'angel dust' found in her system. It is a highly addictive drug which gives strong craving once taken." he finishes off shattering our hearts into millions of pieces.
I don't know why but my heart still hoped that Sage will jump in front of us right now and laugh and this all is a joke. Please god, don't punish us this way.
" There were multiple lacerations on her vaginal walls which caused her to get twenty stitches down there. There are more surgeries that she'll have to attend before it's all done. I'm sorry but this sadly isn't the end of the list, other tests are still going on and we'll get the results soon." he says as I pull my hair sobbing loudly like a maniac.
This has to be a joke. This can't happen. This can't happen to our Sage, to my Sage.
" Where is she ?" Shawn chokes out.
" I don't think you'll be able to see this son," Richard says.
" We wanna see Sage." Ellipt growls in a strangled voice.
" Follow me." he says walking out of the room, everyone follows him instead of that one person who I expected to be the very first to go out.
" Enrique ?" I ask as he snaps out of whatever thought he was in.
" Let's go." I say choking on a sob.
" Yeah." he whispers walking to the ICU with me.
I gasp escapes my lips as we enter the room.
" No. No. This isn't our Sage." I scream looking at the girl on the bed.
" Shhh Sabrina, my Sage is sleeping," Shawn growls looking back at her.
" She isn't our Sage," I scream as Elliot slaps me.
" Open those fucking eyes," he yells shaking me.
" She isn’t our Sage," I whisper breaking down in his arms.
" She is our Sage." he sobs hugging me.
The girl on the bed wasn't anything to what my Sage looked like days back.
Her half face was completely in a shade of dark maroon. Her half head was completely shaven off while the other side had hair chopped off till her shoulders. Her nose seemed like it was broken, her lips were busted, her forehead had multiply wounds.
" Sage." I whisper choking on my sob.
" Don't touch her please." The nurse says as I retreat my hand sobbing on Elliot's chest.
" Sage." Elliot sobs getting beside Shawn who was sitting near her bed sobbing like a child.
Enrique storms out of the room banging the door shut behind him. Scared that he might do something crazy in his anguish , I run behind him to find him in the hall.
" Enrique. What's wrong ?" I ask as he gives me a pleading look.
" I can’t do it Sabby. I can't." he says breathing harshly.
" Do what ?" I ask softly placing my hand on his shoulder.
" I can't marry her. I can't look at her the same way anymore," he says as I frown at his words.
" What do you mean ?" I mutter.
" I can't love Sage anymore, Sabrina. Have you heard what Richard said? Have you seen her? How can you expect me to look at her the same way after knowing and seeing what all she has been through in six days." he grumbles as I slap him as soon as he finishes off.
" Have you lost it ?" I growl.
" Stop right there and listen to yourself you idiot. You're backing away from a relationship of so many years just because of what she was forced into. She didn't go there willingly Enrique." I growl as he shakes his head.
" I can't. She has so many bones broken , stitches in her vagina , two types of STDs, and the list never finishes and there is more to come. How can you expect me to love her the same now ?" he growls.
" Was it all about her body , Enrique ? Such a hypocrite you are. Sage never took the first act, you did. You claimed to love her and made her fall in love with you. You fucking slept with her when she was sixteen, a minor and you were twenty-one. She didn't think of all that at that moment, all she did was love you unconditionally and this is what you gift her back ?" I growl as tears of anguish roll down my cheeks.
" I don't care Sabrina. I don't want her anymore. She's broken and tainted. No one buys broken things so why are you forcing me to make that broken piece of shit a whole life commitment ?" he growls as I slap him again.
" You know what? You're an asshole." I scream as the nurse rushes to us.
" Madam Sage has gained consciousness," she says as Enrique begins walking towards her room.
" Enrique what are you doing ?" I ask as he looks back at me with blank emotions.
" She needs to know that I won't be with her anymore," he says as my heart begins hammering in my chest.
" No. She won't be able to take it, Enrique." I sob holding his hand.
" No Sabrina. She shouldn't have wrong hopes about anything," he says.
" Enrique, no. She is too sensitive right now. Think about it Enrique, she is battling between life and death and you want to snatch the biggest pillar of support from her. They've just cracked her but you'll break her if you do this." I sob joining my hands in front of him to understand my words.
" No," he says walking into her room.
" Enrique." I gasp getting in the room behind him.
There was she. My little doll. My baby sister lying on the bed with heavy eyes, looking at Shawn, Elliot and Elena bawl their eyes out.
" Sage." I sob taking baby steps towards her.
She opened her mouth saying something but my heart broke when no sound came.
" She's saying something." I sob.
" She's saying something." this time I screamed at them.
" We have to run a few more tests to see what's wrong." The nurse says.
" Sage , my love." I whisper as my heart clenches in pain at her expressions.
" Sage." Enrique shifts me aside.
Sage lifts her head a little up trying really hard to say something to him.
" Enrique no please. I beg you." I sob.
" Sage , I'm sorry but this has to happen. I'm leaving. I can't marry you anymore. I can't love you anymore." Enrique says as the room falls silent.
" What are you saying ?" Shawn asks wiping his puffy eyes. His voice felt heavy and hoarse from only crying the past few days.
" I'm sorry but Sage, you're broken and used. I can't have you anymore," he says.
" Please." her barely audible voice came as she seemed to put all her strength into talking.
" Sage no. Don't you understand how much used and tainted you are? You expect me, a man with so much respect and say in the society to marry you ?" he growls as big fat tears begin escaping her eyes.
" Enrique," Shawn growls pouncing on him.
" Leave me," Enrique growls pushing him away.
" Just because your sister is broken , you can't force me to love her," Enrique growls.
" Bye, Sage. I'm going to England with my mom and I'll never be back. Find a man who can deal with your flaws, I don't think you'll find any but there's no harm in trying. I'm going to marry someone who was the Sage before these six days minus the whole load of childish shit you carry." he growls as Shawn lets out a loud roar in anger.
" Don't," she whispers.
" Bye," he says.
" Enrique, no please," I scream.
" Brother," Elena calls but he kept walking towards the door.
Enrique opened the door and turned back looking at her, for a moment I thought he'll stay but then he turned around and left with her soul and her liveliness.
