Born In Ashes: The Enigma Chapter 133

Azrael left the mansion and headed toward his destination. After leaving, he had only taken a few steps when he heard the sound of a door unlocking behind him. Glancing back, he saw someone emerging from the third mansion, which was larger than the other mansions but still smaller than his own and the second mansion. The person who stepped out was a young man with shoulder-length snow-white hair, a handsome face with a somewhat cold expression, and light blue eyes. From the difference in the mansions' sizes, Azrael had already deduced that the last three mansions were reserved for the first, second, and third-ranked students, respectively. Since this guy had just come out of the third mansion, it was clear that he was ranked third among the elite students who had joined this year. Azrael only gave him a brief glance over his shoulder before continuing on his way. Luo Bingqing also saw Azrael and when he noticed that Azrael had come out of the first mansion, a flash of surprise appeared in his eyes. He then checked the map on his student ID, confirmed the location, and began following behind Azrael. After just three minutes of walking, a large building came into Azrael's view. As he drew closer, he spotted some people—whom he assumed were students of the Elite Class standing outside, engaged in conversation. Azrael immediately categorized them as the type of students who preferred to arrive at the classroom at the last possible moment, using their free time to chat with friends outside. 'Felix said that he is also part of the Elite Class…' Azrael thought to himself and after confirming that Felix was not among the group talking outside, he proceeded inside. The moment he stepped through the entrance, Azrael was taken aback, because, instead of a standard classroom setup, what lay before him was a massive gymnasium with a wide open space and a large stage positioned at its center. On the sides were thousands of tiered seats, much like those in a stadium, though there was currently no audience. Scanning the interior, Azrael saw over a hundred people present—some standing in groups, others alone, surveying the space. Activating his Infinite Comprehension Trait, he quickly absorbed every detail in sight and estimated there to be roughly 116 students inside. Taking into account the people outside and those who might not have arrived yet, he calculated there would be around 130 students in total. 'Around one hundred and thirty, huh…' He muttered inwardly before spotting Felix standing alone off to the side. After a brief moment of thought, he made his way toward him. By this time, Luo Bingqing, who had been trailing behind Azrael also entered the building. His gaze swept the gymnasium before pausing briefly on Azrael, after which he headed toward a group of three people engaged in calm conversation. When Felix noticed Azrael approaching, his eyes lit up, and he waved at him. "How long have you been here?" Azrael asked as he stopped beside him. Felix gave an awkward smile at the question and replied in a low voice, "I hurried back here as soon as I received the message." Azrael gave him a strange look, wondering why he had come an entire hour early. "It's the first day, and I didn't want anything unexpected to happen, so…" Felix trailed off, shaking his head before changing the subject. "By the way, do you know why we were called here?" Azrael shook his head, and seeing Felix's expression, he asked, "Do you?" Felix nodded slightly and whispered, "I'm not certain, but I overheard a few people saying that the professor in charge of our class wants to see our abilities, which is why he called us here." He then gestured toward the massive stage at the center. "They've even prepared such a big stage for fighting, so I think it's true." Azrael nodded thoughtfully at Felix's words and asked. "Are they going to have us spar against each other to assess our abilities?" "Most likely," Felix replied. "Although this sort of thing holds little meaning for people like us who just completed our Eonrift Trial and can barely control our power. This is really meant for the students who completed their trial back in January. They're already Class Level warriors, with most of their power systems completed." At that point, Felix paused before asking curiously, "By the way, I didn't ask last time, but what's your ranking? Mine is 63." "First," Azrael answered without looking at him, his gaze scanning the crowd in search of the Class Level students. Felix froze for a moment at his reply, then chuckled and shook his head, assuming Azrael was joking. After all, Azrael had told him he'd completed his Eonrift Trial only a few days ago. It was nearly impossible for someone so recent to outperform those who had completed their trials in January. For the January group, the requirements to enter Slayers Academy's elite class were harsher as they had to clear seven levels inside the Tower of Trials instead of six. Since their power systems were already mostly complete, it was natural that they faced more demanding standards for admission into the Slayers Academy. If they couldn't clear the seventh level after six months of development, they weren't qualified to enter the Elite Class. The ranking among these elite students was determined by the time they took to complete all seven levels. For example, Luo Bingqing had completed the seven levels inside the tower of trials in 23 minutes and 37 seconds, earning the third rank, while the second-ranked student had finished in 22 minutes and 27 seconds—one minute and ten seconds faster. Among all those present, Azrael identified a total of twenty-three Class Level warriors. 'These twenty-three must be the ones who completed their trials in January…' He thought, noting that the strongest among them was at Level 16. While considering this, Azrael's sharp senses suddenly felt several gazes directed at him. Turning his head, he saw a group of Class Level warriors, including the man he had seen earlier leaving the third mansion staring at him. Azrael met their gazes with indifference before shifting his attention back to Felix and continuing their conversation. As they were talking, they suddenly saw a man who appeared to be around twenty-five years old entering the building. His age stood out sharply from that of the students inside, immediately drawing everyone's attention. Although it was the first time Azrael had seen him, it was not difficult to guess that this man was Professor Ronald, the one who had asked them to gather here. But what caught Azrael's attention was not the professor himself, but the few individuals walking behind him—individuals who were not human, but… Elves.
