Dylan Lemiere
I walked into the ballroom and looked around to see where my friends are. Suddenly Archer put his arm around me and looked around too.
"There's a lot of people at this gala dinner.." He sighed and I nodded.
"Totally a lot.." My brother, Brandon, said from the said.
"Found little Autumn.. let's go." Archer said and we all walked there our seat.
"Can you sit beside me?" I turned to see Lauren slipping her arm to mine.
"I can but the person who sits beside you wi-"
"It's just my brother." I nodded and she pulled me towards her seat.
"You okay?"
"I'm not because Blane is going to come." She said in a worried tone. I put my arm around her and patted it to ensure that she will be okay.
"You sure you don't want the girls to be with you?" I asked and she turned to me.
"No because I don't feel safe.. because Blane is a part of our family too so the girls will give him a chance for him to talk to me.. if he wants.. but you won't." She said and I nodded weakly.
"Besides you promised me that you will listen to me and cheer me up.. You're responsible for this."
"How can I be responsible for this?" I asked and she forced me to sit. She sat beside me and pouted looking at me.
"What?"
"I'm just worried."
"You're dragging me here to be your shield because you want to get back with Blane or not?" I asked and she sighed.
"I don't know what I want.." She hissed.
"Well if you want to get back with him.. it's useless for me to sit here but if you don't want to be with him again.. It's the right thing that I'm here." I said as I looked at her seriously. She looked at me blankly and I touched her forehead and poked it lightly.
"You need to think a little red head."
"I'm thinking.." She hissed.
"Think fast!"
"I don't think we will work.." She said.
"Okay then.. The conclusion is that I'm sitting here." I pointed at the chair and took a glass of wine from the waitress.
"I'm nervous." She said and I put my arm around her patting her shoulder.
"I'm here.. you're going to be okay.."
"As always.. I know that I always count on you." She turned to me and smiled. That was the first time that my eyes really caught hers. I started to see her differently. I felt weird too..
It's a usual thing for us boys hugging the 7 Gold Kids girls because we literally family. We grew up together, train together, work and even have a holiday together. Our family never see this kind of affection weird because we're siblings but different parents.
But.. I felt different when my eyes caught hers earlier..
"I need to go to the toilet." I said but Lauren's hand caught me.
"Please be fast.. I'm anxious." She said and I nodded. I walked out quickly and walked into the toilet. I looked at myself at the mirror and took a deep breath. I closed my eyes for a moment and washed my hand. I walked out again and got into the ballroom again.
My eyes caught Blane and his twin, Brooklyn were talking to someone near the entrance door. I slipped and walked to Lauren quickly. She was looking around and when she found me.. She looked at me in relief. I sat beside her again ready to get rid of Blane.
"He's a human and just your ex.. why are you shaking?" I asked.
"I don't know."
"You still love him.. don't you?" I asked.
"I don't know, Dylan."
"Hey." We both turned to see.. Brooklyn. Gosh thank God I can see their difference.
"Hey." I said awkwardly and Lauren must be a little bit intimidated because Brooklyn is just 99% like Blane.
"Don't tell me tha-"
"Hey Lauren." Blane came before Lauren could finish her sentence. My body burned in anger immediately and I turned to Blane coldly.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"I'm jus-"
"Can you get out of my face?" Lauren said bravely and that shocked me. Blane looked at her disbelief and he nodded weakly. He and Brooklyn got away. Lauren turned to me and hugged me. I patted her back and I still can feel that her body's shaking.
"You want to get out from here?" I asked and she looked up at me, making our faces so close. I looked away and gulped nervously.
"Can we?" She asked
"Yeah.. They understand." I said and she smiled.
"Then let's go.. you bring your car right cause I came here with Marco?"
"Yeah." I said and held her hand. We got up and walked out from the venue. We took the lift to go down to the basement.
"Where do you want to go?"
"Have a drink? You know.. have some fun."
"Is drinking the only way to cheer you up?"
"You know I love being alone when I'm sad." That's true.. that's why her family always worried about her when she's sad. She can disappear for days without any trail making us all worry.
"What do you have in mind?"
"It's 6.32 so.. how about a movie marathon?"
"My place or your place?" She asked and I cursed myself for thinking something weird. She's asking like we're going to sleep together. Gosh Lauren..
"Movie theater." I answered.
"Uh?"
"You never do that right?" I asked as we walked out from the lift and she shook her head.
"Good.. let's watch 3 movies today.. trust me.. it will make you feel better."
