He chuckled, “Not believing me? Why did you not question your parents for anything?”

“The moment I knew that you would be married to my brother, I knew I had to find you. But I didn't expect fate would play itself to us and make you end up here.”
No words could come out of me. I gulped, “So purposely getting closer to me, it was your plan?” I couldn't help but let my voice crack.
“Yes.” His answer felt like glass shards were forced into me.
Tears suddenly fell on my eyes. To think that I was almost…into him.
I thought that I finally met someone who would be there for me. To complete me.
He then pointed at the papers, “And this? This one is invalidated. I didn’t know you were already married.
Imagine the shock when I found out you were married to Matheo?”
I bit my lip. I can’t process the other information too.
I stood up, “Let me process this. I don’t think I could do this.”
And I ran away from him with tears in my eyes. I grabbed a phone and contacted the company’s landline.
I did the thing that I didn’t expect to do.
I had managed to bury them in my memories and had to face them head-on.
I think I have seen this scene in the past. The hopeless version of myself begging for a father’s love.
I knew my father wouldn’t answer my phone call so I will try asking his secretary.
“Good afternoon. This is Uy Tech Industries speaking. May I know what is your concern ma'am?” Greeted a perky voice.
“This is the chairman’s daughter, Saphira. Give the phone to my father.”
A minute of silence came and when I heard my father's voice, I felt my heart breaking.
“Saphira. You called…don’t come asking me for money.”
“I am not calling for money. I need some answers. About mom.”
He paused, “It’s about time. Do you remember anything?”
I blinked, “Remember anything?”
“Your true mother. She abandoned us when your sister died when a doctor killed her.”
I gasped. So Rameo was telling the truth.
My family ruined him. His future. His everything.
“And you’re only telling this to me?”
“I thought you might have figured everything out when you ran away from me. When your sister died, you were put in therapy and you locked your memories. You forgot everything about it. While your mom, who was suffering, left us and got to her home in the Philippines.”
I felt so stupid why I am learning all of this now.
Why now? And I felt like I was slapped back to reality.
I sobbed, and for the first time in my life, I heard my father being silent and apologizing to me.
“I apologize, my daughter, for being hard on you. Can’t you return and stop rebelling? We need you here.”
I didn’t imagine Dad would tell me that. He either ate something or he was forced.
Because he never showed some affection to me, not even an ounce of kindness.
I shook my head, “It’s all too late Dad. You already broke me.”
I instantly ended the call and went out of the hospital. I went to my apartment when suddenly, I saw something I was not supposed to see.
This damn twin again. I hate how they pop out of nowhere!
“Saphira.” He called out at the gate of my apartment.
“Why are you here?”
“Do you already know why I am warning you?”
“And why the heck are you here?” I cursed him.
I blinked, “Matheo, I am not in the mood now. Please do not bother me anymore. And this is stalking, I will report you to the officials.”
He sighed, “I am not here to harm you. I just want to check up on you.”
“And why?” I chuckled bitterly, “My family killed your brother’s future. My little sister was dead because your brother failed to operate on him. Are you happy now that I know this?” I spat out at him in anger, “So why are you Venesian Twins still bothering me even though you know this? We don’t have any reason to be closer! Stop going into my life!”
He sighed, letting me let out my frustration there quietly, “I apologize. If you want, we can nullify that marriage. I’ll get the lawyers.”
“You know what? I don’t even care about that marriage shit anymore. Take that certificate with you and scram off. I had enough!” I yelled at the top of my lungs. Call me crazy, and I don't even care about the stares I got from my neighbor but I feel like I am in extreme shock now.
My blood is boiling too much in another and I know I could never forgive anyone right now.
Not my father who kept it from me.
Not from that stupid bastard son of a bitch Rameo who purposely got his revenge on me.
I went inside my apartment and packed my things. As soon as I was finished, I talked to the owner and got a refund for my rent next month.
Since this place is crowded with that damn Venesians, I wot bother coming back to this damn place.
Not for that damn Rameo who ended up as my sister’s surgeon.
Not for that damn Theon who keeps on pestering me about Arson.
Or for Matheo who keeps on shoving the marriage certificate to my face.
I am done dealing with them and being played by them.
Gone were my dreams of being a doctor and building my hospital.
Getting that degree seemed to be a distant dream that I had to dissipate now.
I have to focus on finding my mother now and start over with her. She abandoned me, but I still need answers from her.
Staying here any longer might make me insane.
I figured she might be more tolerable than my father.
“Is that your answer to everything? Running away?”
I heard Matheo’s voice behind me as he followed me to walk to the rides.
I looked for a taxi, “No. I am tired of running. I am facing my battles head-on.”
I saw Theon running to me with Arson in his hands, “Where are you going?”
I avoided looking at him, “Somewhere I won’t see you, Venesian Triplets. .”
“You’ll leave this place. So that means you're leaving your degree too? But you’ll soon be graduating.” He asked in worry.
“I don’t care anymore. All my efforts would just be in vain. As long as I could not see you bastards.”
Silence fell. “Don’t stop me.”
“I won’t. I respect your decision.” He said. Arson glanced at me. “Don’t..go.”
I breathed deeply. I don't owe them anything. And they owe me my sanity. The least they could do is stop bothering me now.
Theon cleared his throat, “I could give you a ride to the “
“No thank you. I can manage on my own.”
“What about your degree-“
I slung my middle finger up in the air, “Fuck that.”
The taxi driver helped me in loading my luggage and asked as Theon, Arson and Matheo watched me, “Where to miss?”
“Airport.”
He nodded and I rode in silence.
I can’t believe I am leaving for another place again.
How nostalgic.
But I don't even feel sad about this town. Just…disappointed lingering feeling.
