Chapter Forty — Seven
Michael's POV
The last time I remembered Linda, she was going to snap my brother's neck. And after him, mine. I would have been next. That was certain.
I remembered how I felt. The burning desire to kill her. The sensation in my veins that told me to carve her heart out and feed it to her. Inflicting pain on her, so intense that her veins would pop out and burst open.
But then things changed.
Drastically, I must add.
Right after Alpha Elijah came to our rescue the situation changed. Before the odds were against us, now the tables turned. And everything turned in our favor.
Even when James was abducted by Linda, I knew that I would save him no matter what.
Although, at that moment, I did not know how? I didn't even know when and where Linda had taken him.
That's when Elijah came to the rescue. Somehow, he knew about the Hidden passageway way more than we did. He knew the ways, exists and entryways that even I did not know he existed.
For some inexplicable reason, he took everyone to the exact place where Linda was, while he sent me inside the hidden way.
I remembered feeling a little shocked at the revelation. I did not know that there was another way inside the already hidden passageway. Then another question entered my mind.
How did Linda know about it? I still did not know the answer to that question.
I still don't…
It's still unanswered. It was still a mystery to me. However, one thing that was not a mystery to me was that she was a betrayer. Not only she betrayed my trust, my faith in her, but she betrayed our whole damn pack. A pack that gave her shelter and treated her as our own.
She was a traitor.
A wolf in a sheep form.
Every time, her face came into my mind, I wanted to kill her. But before that and most importantly, torture her until she could not take the pain.
I wanted to inflict so much agony on her that she considered death as a better option, than going through it all.
Thus, there lies my dilemma.
Why did I feel so much pain when I hit her?
I remembered the exact moment when I hit her. Right after my hand landed on her cheek, my hand burned like my blood was boiling inside my hand. And not to forget the intense way my wolf howled in pain inside my head. My chest felt like constricting heavily like I could not breathe.
It was then that I saw the impact of my slap. It not only left a dark red angry handprint on her cheek but also her nose started to bleed too.
Not only that, but it was then when I realized the reason for my and my wolf's pain.
Likewise, it was because our mate was in pain.
The connection we shared was also the very reason for our hurt.
I did not want to, but my face showed the way it felt after hurting our mate.
When my eyes met Linda's I saw nothing. She kept her face calm. Even after I knew how hard and powerful the hit and blow from my hand was. She did not even show any sign of pain or fear. Not even a drop of tear from her eyes was shed. Her eyes were dry and unemotional.
Another question boomed into my mind back then, how come she did not react to it? Her eyes were blank and so was her face. One doubt brewed into my mind. A dangerous one.
Was it because she was so used to this sort of treatment?
Without looking back, I somehow knew that James felt the same way.
I closed my eyes and James' voice boomed inside my head.
“Later, Michael. Let's go.” He said and for once in my life, I obliged without any arguments.
My mind was fuzzy with emotions. I needed it to be cleared. And that could not happen when I was near her. She has some sort of weird impact on me that I usually ignored but at the moment could not. So I got up and left her there. Soon James followed my suit.
“We HAVE to get information about Adan and others from her. If we can't do it then maybe...”
“... then maybe we have to give her command to someone else.”
“Elijah.” We both said out loud and I felt my heart beat picking up speed.
Things would turn ugly if we handed her to Elijah. And I mean 'Bloody' ugly. He will bring her to the knees. He will take her to a place where she might want to die instead of taking his torture. But he Will get the information out of her. That much I knew.
So it must happen.
No matter how much pain we both feel, it needs to be done.
James and I nodded to each other at the same moment. We walked out of the jail.
We were currently inside the Tenebrous jail. The famous main jail center for the Alpha Council where criminals were held captive and alive.
For various things.
It was not only situated in a place where nobody could find it, but also this place was built inside the building of the alpha council. It was underground and was kept safe and guarded all the time. Although the most interesting part of it was that it had so many ways here. If somebody even tries to evade this place then they will get confused and might end up getting lost. They will end up losing time while on the other hand we will get us to buy some time.
Anyway, we walked straight until we reached the section where it was divided into many ways.
From there we took every third way, wherever the section was divided. Finally, we reached the stairs which led us upstairs and from there we walked straight to Elijah's office.
We both were stopped by two guards.
“Alpha Michael. Alpha James.” One of them spoke.
'Alpha.'
My father's place.
I felt a twitch in my heart.
They nodded at us in a sense of greeting.
“We both are here to meet Elijah.” James told him.
He nodded and went quiet for a second. I wanted to roll my eyes. He was asking Elijah for permission to let us in.
Like we were going to kill him.
We would not do it. Especially after what he did for us. Also, we were not stupid to do it in his own office With so many guards outside. Although I knew it was necessary. The security was tight especially after what had happened.
The guard nodded his head and backed away from the door to let us in. He reminded me of Adan. I sighed internally.
Where was he?
“He is expecting you both. You can go in.” He said and pushed open the door. We stepped inside to find Elijah sitting in his chair with his arms crossed around his chest.
“Any good news?” He asked. James and I exchanged a look. We spoke at the same time, the same words.
“We need your help.”
