Gale Just Doing His own Thing
What followed was, thankfully, not overly complicated.
First, Veronica and Mateo informed them that another benefit they enjoyed was their ability to pick whatever subjects they wanted to study under the course, within said course of course. (A/n: English baby.)
As for how they would decide? Well, everyone in the group had been given a watch which looked simple at first glance, but upon closer inspection, it was pretty much a far better smartphone, but as a watch, but better.
It could bring up holographic screens that the user could physically interact with and have a whole bunch of features. From the basics, like communication and saving people’s contact information, to a lot more advanced stuff.
The two Masters pretty much said that explaining everything the watches could do was a hassle, so they just gave them the basics and said they would figure out the rest themselves.
Other than that, there was a virtual orientation that was pre-recorded for the group to watch which was more or less what they had already been told, but with more details. Specifically, their courses.
They were then encouraged to pick whatever subjects they wanted to study under the courses as soon as possible, since doing so would allow them to quickly get their timetables done.
Once this was all settled, Mateo and Veronica carried the other 4 to check out their residences, leaving Osho and Gale at the place for a while.
Osho just sat on the couch for a while, momentarily basking in everything that had happened, then he exhaled.
"Gale, wanna explore?" He turned to the bird and asked with a smile, the latter giving an affirming screech as he took his position on Osho’s head.
Osho chuckled and stood up from the couch and lingered before going to the place that interested him the most first.
Okay, that was a lie, but he was truly interested in the kitchen. For someone like him who enjoyed the act of cooking, it was truly a treasure trove.
"It’s bigger than my last living room," Osho mumbled as he walked through the kitchen. It was stocked with everything a chef would need and more. The sink alone had so many features that he spent over ten minutes just fiddling with it before Gale got bored and asked him to move on.
There was a dishwasher and oven that were more advanced than most items Osho owned in the past. The fridge was pretty much its own mini-world with so many different ingredients that Osho was tempted to drop everything and cook a feast on the spot.
The knives were also something else, and were probably a hazard as they were scarily sharp. But somehow, the cutting board handled the unnatural sharpness with ease.
All in all, Osho was immensely satisfied with the kitchen alone.
’Let’s go visit the habitat already.’ Gale practically whined through their bond, and Osho laughed.
"Okay, okay. Let’s do that." He relented and moved through the residence, taking in the place as he moved towards the back entrance where he assumed the habitat was.
His assumption was correct, as after finding a back entrance, he was immediately met with a large translucent dome with a metal door meant for humans and a gate several meters large for beasts.
By the side of the door was a panel, and when Osho went up to it, he saw it was a sort of biometric scanner. After a moment, he placed his hand on it, and he felt a tingle run across his palm before it turned blue, and it said ’paired successfully’ before the door opened.
A tablet also slid out from the top of the panel, and Osho grabbed it. Before he could fully inspect what it was, though, Gale had flown off his head into the dome through the door.
Osho sighed and walked inside after him, and when he entered, he was taken aback.
The inside was spatially expanded. As in, REALLY spatially expanded. From the outside, the dome barely seemed to be 50 meters in diameter. But on the inside...
’This place has to be kilometers large .’ He thought with awe.
The environment was reminiscent of a mountainous area with lots of space and deep drops. It wasn’t very aesthetically pleasing, but it was effective.
Osho focused on his mana sense and was even more surprised. He read that spatially expanded areas tended to be a bit unstable when it came to their space Mana, which made sense as the space was essentially being stretched to increase how much of it was available, causing the space mana to thin out.
But it was the opposite here.
’It’s so sturdy... sturdier than outside.’ He thought with surprise as he tried to figure out why, but was snapped out of his thoughts when a powerful gust of wind washed over him, making his clothes flutter.
He looked up and made a face.
Gale seemed to be having the time of his life.
He’d flown extremely high and was currently flying in a wide circle at speeds that should have broken more than a few bones simply from the sheer centrifugal force acting on him, but Gale didn’t care about stuff like that. Googlᴇ search novel_fіre.net
As for why he was doing this? Well, the massive tornado that was currently forming as a result of his actions, with the surrounding air and mana getting sucked in to make it spin faster.
’What are you doing???’ Osho asked incredulously.
’Well, I finally have a place where I can properly let loose, and when I fought the Harbinger, I had an idea for a pretty cool attack.’ Gale explained casually, but Osho could feel the underlying sense of excitement through their bond, which wasn’t surprising.
Other than when he fought the Harbinger, Gale hadn’t really been able to truly let loose, and his powers were always controlled to avoid causing any damage to allies.
Now, though, that wasn’t an issue.
’Oh? Let me see it, then.’ Osho thought with a smile as he watched Gale continue to pick up speed, and by extension, speed up the massive tornado.
The base of it alone was dozens of meters thick, and when it touched down, the ground was instantly shredded, with the surrounding earth getting ripped up and pulled into the growing twister.
This alone made the attack quite deadly, as when Osho looked closer, he saw how the wind that made up the attack wasn’t just normal air, but was also very sharp. Something that was made clear when a particularly large rock got pulled it was shredded by the wind.
Despite this, though, Osho knew Gale wasn’t done as a moment later, something changed.
The twister stopped growing, and instead started to shrink. The thick column of wind started getting thinner, but in return, it got faster and sharper, and Osho felt goosebumps rise on his skin as he watched Gale do random bullshit but end up with a terrifying attack.
There was an ominous humming noise that filled the area which soon reached a crescendo. The thick pillar of wind was now only 1 meter thick, and Osho wondered what could possibly survive being in the center of it.
Definitely not an Adept Rank Beast.
’Here I go.’ Gale suddenly said, and Osho didn’t hesitate to share his vision with Gale to see what was about to happen.
Not a moment too soon, either, as he saw Gale aim his body downwards into the center of the column.
Mama filled his muscles as he unleashed a powerful flap of his wings and went down the column at impossible speeds. As he did so, the surrounding wings seemed to constrict around his body, but instead of harming him, it propelled him even more, and what happened next was too fast for Osho to follow.
There was a sound akin to a thunder clap as Gale shot through the column and into the ground. Osho felt the ground beneath his feet shudder from the sheer kinetic energy, and he watched on with wide eyes as the twister slowly dispersed, all the energy slowly fading as it served its purpose.
Oshi quickly ran to the edge of the cliff and looked down.
A couple hundred meters below, there was a hole surrounded by cracks about the size of a barrel, which was already quite impressive. However...
’How deep did he go???’ Osho exclaimed and first of all made sure that Gale hadn’t just killed himself with that attack before asking.
’Are you okay? How deep did you go?’ A moment later, the bird shot out of the hole with a mighty screech that was filled with glee.
’That was awesome!’ He said like a giddy child, and Osho had to pinch the bridge of his nose, he didn’t know whether to be angry or amazed.
’Oh, and to answer your question, it’s more than 200 meters thick, I think?’ Gale answered casually, and Osho froze.
’... You just drilled a hole more than two hundred meters deep through solid rock... in less than a minute?’ He asked with an exasperated tone, and Gale soon arrived and hovered in front of him, looking happy.
’Yup. Pretty good right? I call it Wind Cannon!’ He said happily and stared at Osho, clearly wanting praise.
"Horrible name, but incredible attack." Osho relented and reached forward to stroke the bird’s head, earning him a satisfied trill.
