Bear School Astartes Chapter 69

The journey was short and safe. Honestly, if Velen had more significant threats than a gang of over a hundred armed criminals, Viserad should really consider stepping down as lord. On this journey, the speed of two good horses alone could shake off ninety-nine percent of the trouble. Finally, even as Margaret leaned on Lann, her expression showed no sign of improvement. The horses successfully reached Gos Velen by noon the next day. This time, Lann was able to walk straight to the end of Kado Street, in front of the magic barrier of Airetusa Academy. The little girl Alia seemed to be seeing magic for the first time, and the magic barrier stunned her. However, due to her curious and active nature, her eyes showed no fear but rather keen curiosity and excitement. "Old Gods above, this is real... magic!" "No entry for idle people." A female voice came from behind the barrier; it seemed that while the barrier looked sophisticated, there was actually someone guarding it, lacking automatic recognition abilities. This development seemed to Lann a bit skewed, fitting the differences between technological paths. Lann dismounted, experiencing a persistent fever-like pain that hadn’t dissipated throughout the day. The poison from the Demon Hunter’s magic potion was no joke. The young man helped Margaret dismount; at this point, the Female Warlock couldn’t stand, so Lann carried her horizontally. Margaret’s voice was weak, but Lann believed she knew the other side could hear, hence using an effortless tone. "You know my name? No, that’s useless. No entry for idle people, it’s Master Tishaya’s command." The female voice said indifferently, sounding like a woman casually responding while applying nail polish. Lann could feel with his chest that Margaret took a deep breath using thoracic breathing. After all, the sensation was quite distinct. "Safin, I’ll take away all your holidays this academic year!" The Female Warlock said viciously, then wiped her hands over her face. Lann could clearly feel that something changed in the woman in his arms. As if a layer of veil floated off her body. The covered "charm" finally revealed itself. Only then did Lann realize that he hadn’t been able to focus on Margaret’s face at all before. This was the effect of the magic cream; even the Demon Hunter’s resistance against magic was fooled with just a bit of ointment before a real warlock. Her golden long hair, even after nearly ten days of ordeal, still adorned an enchantingly beautiful face. Margaret’s visage deserved the rumors; fairies and nymphs were no better. When the Female Warlock wiped off the magic cream, a commotion suddenly broke out across the barrier. Then, with a loud "boom" right before them, the air seemed to suddenly connect with a low-pressure space. Mid-air, a dark portal with yellow glowing edges opened. A teleportation gate. Even now in a feverish state, Lann expressed marvel at this magical skill he witnessed for the first time. Opening a teleportation gate with a wave, now that’s what makes a Great Mage! A similarly beautiful Female Warlock emerged from the portal, giving off a slightly old-fashioned or traditional vibe. Yet facial-wise, Lann thought she was at most thirty? Her hands remained clasped, positioned over the lower abdomen in a formal stand, rarely seen in everyday life. But she maintained this posture throughout. Without needing to ask in detail, this old-fashioned Female Warlock probably knew at a glance how severely Margaret was injured. This Female Warlock didn’t even move a finger, yet Lann felt his arms lighten. Margaret floated away, suspended beside the Female Warlock. Alia’s gaze followed Margaret floating in the air. The Female Warlock didn’t overlook the others. "You’re poisoned." She said to the Demon Hunter with a thoroughly insightful tone. "There’s no need to endure; merely bringing back Margaret ensures Airetusa’s gratitude won’t be absent." "My telekinesis is enough to toss all four of you along with the two horses like coins, so if you wish, you can lie down now." With the burden relieved, Lann felt fatigue engulf him like a tide. "Well... that’s appreciated." The Female Warlock nodded lightly, and Lann was also lifted up. He couldn’t tell if it was an illusion; he felt his suspended position was intentionally adjusted several times to maintain symmetry with Margaret’s. ...Was this Great Mage obsessive-compulsive? Stray thoughts ended here, the relaxed body longing for rest, and the Demon Hunter gradually closed his eyes. When those amber-colored cat eyes opened again, it was already a sunny day. Beneath him was a complete velvet bedding set; not only had he never slept on such a comfortable bed since arriving in this world, even back home, Lann had never encountered such high-end bedding. It felt like lying on clouds. Without even looking around the room, Lann knew it must be a scene of high-end luxury in decoration and furniture. "Mentos, report on toxin residue." "Understood, sir. Monitoring ongoing, toxin residue cleared." Lann shifted in bed, adopting a more comfortable position. It seemed these toxins were trivial matters to sorcerers, as if they could resolve them with a mere breath... Why can’t I be a Warlock!!! In rare relaxation, Lann inevitably reverted to his former university student persona. But upon hearing a knock on the door, he turned back into the solo Demon Hunter who could take down a camp. Margaret appeared at the door seated in a wheelchair. Her legs were wrapped, seemingly in casts. Yet the surface was engraved with patterns Lann didn’t understand, with soft lights flashing within. Perhaps, as Margaret claimed, magic could restore her nearly flayed legs to an even more beautiful state than before. The powers of mages were remarkably impressive even by standards of Lann’s home world. Now Margaret, back at her academy, could safely and abundantly mobilize numerous resources. She wore her usual attire once more, a colorful dress, dazzling gold ornaments, along with the meticulously refined makeup prized by Female Warlocks. Even more stunning than when she wiped off the magic cream. Her eyes alone could captivate souls, the heavy makeup appearing refined rather than garish, adding to Margaret’s noble and dignified beauty. Curvy like a ripe peach, mature and alluring, skin smooth and fair like cream. She donned a deep green gauze dress, seemingly with a very open neckline and back. Such a challenging color appeared not the least out of place on her. The power of magic could create beauty beyond the age. "Hang on, I can appreciate beauty... but why do her eyes light up!" Lann’s body froze slightly. By the way, he was currently bare-chested as he slept. Margaret’s wheelchair rolled over. "Hmm, looks like you’ve recovered well?" With that, her pale jade-like hand trembled as it reached towards Lann. The young man stared at her expressionlessly, quietly pulling the blanket up. This woman looked anything but kind!
