24: Chapter 024: You’re Going To Die!
After leaving the office, Lionel Yeager and Sunny Tolkien took the elevator to the underground parking lot.
“Assistant Yeager, you’ll drive.”
Sunny handed the keys to Lionel.
Lionel awkwardly smiled, “I can’t drive.”
Sunny stared at Lionel in disbelief, “How can an assistant not know how to drive?”
Lionel shrugged, “But I really can’t.”
Sunny shook her head and sat in the driver’s seat.
Lionel, on the other hand, comfortably sat in the passenger seat.
The car started and they left the underground parking lot, heading towards World Trading.
Along the way, Sunny asked various questions about company management, trying to test Lionel.
However, Lionel was clueless about company management and operations.
Sunny wondered why President Stewart hired such a person as an assistant.
Could it be that this guy is President Stewart’s boy toy?
But she didn’t ask more.
It’s taboo for subordinates to inquire about their boss’s private matters in the workplace.
In the following time, Sunny didn’t continue talking to Lionel.
In her eyes, Lionel was merely a decorative pillow with no real ability.
About twenty minutes later, the car arrived at an office building in the City Center.
After parking the car, Lionel followed Sunny to the building.
On the way, Sunny reminded, “Assistant Yeager, I’ll handle the negotiation with Director Lee later.
Just sit and listen, and don’t interrupt.”
Lionel nodded, not saying much.
When they entered the office building, they approached the front desk.
The receptionist smiled and asked, “What can I help you with?”
Sunny said, “I’m Assistant Tolkien from East Beauty Pharmaceuticals, could you please contact Director Lee from World Trading?
I have something to discuss with him.”
The receptionist nodded and then made a phone call.
Soon, the receptionist hung up the phone, saying, “Please wait a moment.”
A woman wearing a light coffee-colored professional suit and with an attractive figure approached them.
The woman extended her hand to Sunny with a smile, “Assistant Tolkien, Director Lee is expecting you.”
Then, guided by the woman, Lionel and Sunny took the elevator to the sixteenth floor of World Trading.
They entered the company and walked straight to the General Manager’s Office.
The woman knocked on the door, saying, “Director Lee, Assistant Tolkien is here.”
A male voice came from inside.
As they opened the door, they saw a middle-aged man in a white shirt, with a slicked back hair and slightly overweight body, reviewing a document.
This middle-aged man was Sawyer Lee, the general manager of World Trading.
Upon seeing Sunny, Sawyer warmly greeted her.
“Assistant Tolkien, what brings you to my company today?”
Sunny replied, “Director Lee, we do have something to discuss with you.”
Sawyer looked at Lionel.
Sunny introduced, “This is Lionel Yeager, President Stewart’s new assistant.”
“Oh, nice to meet you, Assistant Yeager.
I’m Sawyer Lee, the general manager of World Trading.”
Sawyer greeted Lionel with a smile, reaching out his hand.
However, in the instant Lionel shook Sawyer’s hand, his eyebrows slightly furrowed.
There was something off about this guy.
After scanning Sawyer, he instantly realized what was going on.
“Assistant Harper, get some coffee quickly.”
Assistant Harper nodded and left the office after pouring the coffee.
“Please take a seat.”
Sawyer gestured and invited Sunny and Lionel to sit.
After they sat down, Sawyer asked with a smile, “Assistant Tolkien, what would you like to discuss?”
Sunny said, “Director Lee, I’ll just get to the point.
We’re here today to ask when you’ll pay us the rest of the money for the goods.”
Upon hearing this, the smile on Sawyer’s face suddenly froze.
He took a sip of the coffee and sighed, “Assistant Tolkien, I’d love to pay, but my company is having financial difficulties lately!
Could you please ask President Stewart for some more time?
As soon as our cash flow improves, I’ll pay you right away.”
Sunny frowned, “Director Lee, you originally promised to make up the payment for goods within three months.
Now it’s been half a year, and President Stewart has already given you an additional three months.
Please don’t push it too far.”
Hearing this, the smile on Sawyer’s face vanished.
He slammed his cup on the table, scolding, “Assistant Tolkien, you should know how hard it is to sell East Beauty Pharmaceutical’s products these days.
I still have half of the products unsold and stuck with me.
Without sales, I won’t have funds coming in.
How do you expect me to pay you back?”
Sunny said, “Director Lee, our company is trying to find a solution for the unsold products.
Once our new products hit the market, we will regain market share.
Besides, we signed a contract back then.
President Stewart extended your deadline for three additional months out of the long-standing cooperation between our two companies.
If you still don’t pay, we’ll have to go through legal proceedings.”
Upon hearing this, Sawyer’s face changed, and immediately put on a smile again, “Assistant Tolkien, don’t be so harsh!
Legal proceedings would only hurt our relationship.
How about this, you go back and tell President Stewart, give me one more month.
One month later, I’ll pay you back immediately, all right?”
Sunny was about to speak, but Lionel who had been sitting beside her in silence suddenly chimed in, “Director Lee, we can wait for one month, but can you really afford to wait?”
“Assistant Yeager, what do you mean?”
Sawyer asked with a puzzled expression.
Sunny also looked at Lionel, not understanding his intention.
Lionel sighed, “Director Lee, you have an undiagnosed condition that will kill you in less than a month, yet you want us to wait a month.
By then, who’s going to pay us after you’re gone?”
Before his voice fell!
Sawyer slapped the table, angrily saying, “Assistant Yeager, what the hell do you mean?
Is it just because I didn’t pay yet?
Why are you cursing me?”
“Assistant Yeager, please don’t say anymore!”
Sunny was also startled and quickly stopped him.
Why did Lionel curse that man?
Lionel shrugged, “Director Lee, I’m not joking.
You’re really dying.”
Sawyer was so angry that his chest heaved, pointing outside, “Get out!”
“Director Lee, calm down!
It’s his first day in the company and he doesn’t know any better!”
Sunny quickly tried to pacify, then yelled at Lionel, “Assistant Yeager, you’re not needed here, get out!”
Lionel narrowed his eyes, looking at Sawyer, “Director Lee, do you really want me to leave?
If I leave, no one will be able to save you.”
