"We'll take that" she called and pushed me back into the dressing room. Do not look. Do not look. Don't look, I called to myself. As fast as I could the dress was on the hook and I was back in my clothes. Without even looking at the price, I gave it to Faye, who paid for it.
"Now we're still missing school supplies and underwear," she said and made her way to the next shop. I gladly followed her.
After almost 4 hours in this mall, I was frustrated and very tired. Faye took me to a small ice cream shop. "What do you want?" Faye asked me and I decided on two scoops of raspberries.
After our shopping tour, we walked to Mason's house with bags full to the brim and heard the loud discussion outside.
"That doesn't change the fact that you've been drinking!" exclaimed Peter angrily. "Yes. You're right. You're all right, but as long as I don't have the pills I can't keep him around her much longer." Mason called and I noticed the sad tone in his voice.
"We are back!" called Faye quickly. I would have liked to have listened further, but my shopping companion was more against it.
Mary came up to us and took a couple of the doors from us. The rest were towed by Peter and Mason. Me and Faye sat down on the sofa in the living room and rested a bit. The way back was almost more exhausting than all the shopping.
"Amy, how did you get involved with a shopping spree with these two?" Peter asked me amused. "It was okay with Mary, but Faye packed everything she could get her hands on. Now I have a blue fountain pen, another gold one and a ballpoint pen. And that's only because she liked the gold one better than the one Blue" I said and threw my head back in annoyance. The others started laughing and Mason smiled too.
"You are in our house at 7 p.m. I am cooking and I expect your presence." Faye shouted before Mason closed the door. "Great." he murmured. "What is?" I asked, since we finally had something to talk about.
"The food my sister makes is not edible. She just can't cook." Mason said with a smile. "I don't think so" "I'm sure you don't like that either. Oh and thanks again for the aspirin" he said with a grin and disappeared upstairs. I couldn't keep my smile off my face either. We finally talked like two sensible people together.
I turned my attention to my new clothes and started with my t-shirts. All were neatly folded and, according to Faye, already washed. How exactly did that go? I didn't know either, but I just trusted my new girlfriend. I put them all neatly in the closet and then the other things followed. The dress hung neatly on a hanger in my closet and my school supplies were on the small desk.
Towards evening Mason knocked on my door and we went together to his family.
"Don't worry we already ordered pizza" Mary said and winked at us. "Mom?" shouted a desperate Faye from behind. Mary made a face and rushed into the kitchen. We went into the dining room, where Peter was already seated. Mason and I also sat down and waited for the food.
"Oh, this is Mason. The package arrived today." said Peter and gave him a small package. Mason looked relieved and ran out of the room.
"So here's the food. Enjoy!" Faye exclaimed as she placed a large pot on the table. She put something on everyone's plate. Faye had made pasta with tomato sauce and it didn't look too bad either. The others seemed skeptical and when Faye asked why they hadn't eaten yet, they said that the cook had to eat first.
So Faye was the first to try and didn't move a single face. However, you could tell from her eyes, which have grown 0.1mm, that it wasn't as good as it looked. The others didn't seem to notice and wanted to start eating. I stopped Mason, but Mary and Peter had it in their mouths. Mary tried to say something that sounded like You mistook salt for sugar! But I couldn't be sure about that. Mason looked at me gratefully and I smiled back. Maybe he could be nicer than he thought.
He rang the bell and Mary jumped up. When she came back she had 5 pizzas in her hands. Everyone got one in front of them and everyone looked pretty happy. Except Faye. "You ordered pizza? How could you? I finally tried to cook something, after how long do I know and you order pizza?" she asked angrily. "Faye, you're welcome to eat your food. I have no problem with that," Mary said and smiled at her daughter. Faye's eyes narrowed and she glared at Mary angrily. Well, pasta didn't stand a chance against pizza.
After the delicious meal, Faye decided to see a movie with us. Mason agreed annoyed and I had to stay here too. To be honest, I preferred it to being alone in my room. Mary and Peter left us in the living room and Faye turned on the TV. On Netflix she was looking for some film, which of course had to be a horror film. I'd seen pretty much everyone on Amazon prime with Josie, but Netflix didn't have our pack.
Somehow, I had slid onto Mason's lap during the film so I was now sitting on his legs with my legs dangling down the other side. My torso leaned against his and he held me tightly. Whenever I got scared, he would hold me tighter and draw little circles on my back. Somehow that calmed me down and made me sad again when I thought that he might have already found his soulmate. It was at least very rare to have a soul mate from another pack. Besides, he probably would have said something then because he looked like 18. So he could already find his soulmate two years ago.
I must have fallen asleep in the middle of the film because Mason carried me through the night. "Go back to sleep" he said and pulled me closer to him. My heartbeat automatically matched his. However, when he laid me down on my bed and covered me up, I got cold and wanted him around again. But Mason walked out of my room and closed the door behind him. A small tear made its way down my face. I didn't know where it came from.
