Applied Immortality Chapter 67

Mao Zimiao pounced on the primate demon, leaving a mark on its back, then jumped out of its enraged retaliation as it sped up in an attempt to claw the detestable demonborn. The Hylobatidae and Felidae families relied on agility to hunt. Mao Zimiao found herself at a disadvantage in terms of speed against it, but she made up for it with her movements and superior flexibility, leading to an impasse. Until now, Mao Zimiao’s kicks and punches relied on the basic martial arts the Immortal Institute imparted to her. But at some point, she included an extra clawing attack that was not part of the lessons. This type of attack did not suit humans. Mao Zimiao noticed the issue, and the cat-girl focused on amending it. This was not a distraction her childish fighting could take, and each time she adjusted her attacks, her pace slowed. The result was the many close calls she had in being hit by the primate demon. Evolution Chart’s advancement stirred her blood, not just her speed and strength, but also awoke her instincts. Su Junyu called out, “Just leave it; don’t always stick to the basics.” Mao Zimiao was perplexed, giving the primate demon the chance to swipe her shoulder and throw her into the air. Mao Zimiao reacted to her feline instincts to twist in the air and placed both palms down just as the demon’s second attack came. “Nya?” Mao Zimiao paused, but then her doubt turned into excitement. [Doesn’t letting go mean just fighting as it comes?]  ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵⟡𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮⟡𝓷𝓮𝓽 Mao Zimiao jumped behind Ghost Ape and swiped without much thought or hesitation. Back to Wang Qi, the Ghost Ape he was handling was in a worse state. It had many burnt spots on its fur, giving off an awful stench. The flickering sparks on Wang Qi drew the demon mad. Wang Qi turned to Celestial Entropy. It was an art based on thermodynamics, giving control over temperature without the need to train in fire arts. Wang Qi gave a casual slap, containing a heat to melt steel. The primate demon had suffered enough from his attacks, and its courage faltered. As for the sparks, they came from the Celestial Hymn Odyssey. Wang Qi recalled with fondness how Su Junyu said these monkeys were at odds with the Thunder Clap Stag. It was why the two monkeys came all the way here. Wu Shiqin drew them in with her electric discharge. He had no clue why the monkeys and the deer belonging to different food chains couldn’t stand each other, but he did find something interesting. “You sure don’t like sparks, do you baldy?” [Take this, a Celestial Hymn Odyssey burn!] Wang Qi flared his electric, magnetic, and electromagnetic fields, using every electric skill in his arsenal. These were mere gimmicks, not magical arts, but they proved more than enough to incense enemies with a particular hatred for them. Wang Qi confirmed through this trial that Ghost Ape hated a specific frequency of electromagnetic spiritual power. It ended up being these sparks. Despite saying he wanted to turn him into mush with ripples, he hardly used them. The Grand Ripple Enigma was, more or less, lethal in its attacks. It was beyond easy to forget restraint and kill one’s opponent. He would have only himself to blame for getting his merits docked by breaking that pain in the rear Immortal Alliance’s rule in protecting wild demons. Then the unexpected happened. A screeching howl came from behind Wang Qi. The primate demon fighting Mao Zimiao had a bleeding gash. It yelled in rage, using its low innate talent. Wang Qi felt his mind stung from the screech, while the much further Wu Fan and Wu Shiqin even wobbled from dizziness. As for the demonborn girl, she blacked out, falling from a tree. The only one able to shrug it off was Su Junyu, a Foundation Establishment cultivator. Su Junyu paused, only acting if Mao Zimiao was in real danger. It would lead to Wang Qi failing his tasks and losing the chance of earning quick merits, but Su Junyu believed the loss was all due to the immature participants. Wang Qi’s casual selection was to blame for it. This trial would be sure to help mature Wang Qi for future ones. The primate demon saw its opponent fall and howled as it pounced. Su Junyu lifted his hand, but then he frowned. Invisible sword waves swept the area, landing on the primate demon. Blood spurted, leaving many bone-deep wounds on it. Wang Qi’s Ghost Ape noticed him turning his back to it and used all its strength to claw. Wang Qi relied on the Book of Geometry to calculate the opponent’s simple attacks. His reaction was to point behind him and send a thumb-sized ripple at its shoulder. The primate demon found its arm severed. Wang Qi turned the tables in an instant. Hilbert was absolutely right. Just by relying on the many cultivation methods he knew, Wang Qi was unchallenged in the Qi Refining Realm. Su Junyu recognized the cultivation method and gasped, “Grand Ripple Enigma… it can actually be trained at the Qi Refining Realm?” The demons found themselves with heavy wounds and howled in distress, bolting away at once. Wang Qi did not pursue due to the Immortal Alliance’s rules, not needing the demon’s bodies, and because he wanted to check on Mao Zimiao. He jumped to her side. Ghost Ape’s innate talent was a soul attack, leaving the demonborn girl unconscious. Even as Wang Qi called out to her, she just had a silly smile while mumbling, “Litte Qi, nya, I’m so woozy.” Wang Qi sighed and rubbed her ears. “Fine, I guess I’ll help you sober up.”
