The sudden, faint unfamiliar sound that arose from the tranquil space instantly altered the expressions of the two, their gazes darting around.
Because this space was so vast, almost entirely consisting of various display racks and corridors, much like a huge museum, the sound carried through the empty echoes, making it difficult to discern its direction.

Just as Lin Xian and KIKI turned into a long corridor, strange things began to occur. Whether it was the air or a problem with the visibility, Lin Xian noticed that the light from their flashlights started to dim, the darkness ahead devouring their sight like thick ink.
At the same time, that dragging creaking noise appeared not far behind them on the ground.
KIKI was startled by the sound, whispering out, as she wasn’t running as fast as Lin Xian. Lin Xian immediately reached out and grabbed one of her hands, pulling her quickly forward.
The sound of running echoed in the vast corridors with an empty noise; KIKI’s heartbeat quickened, one hand gripping Lin Xian’s while the other held the mobile terminal tightly.
At that moment, the creepy dragging sound rang out again, and this time, it felt almost right behind her own head.
KIKI was startled and reflexively released Lin Xian’s hand, unleashing her superpower with a sweep behind her!
An invisible force surged, and a shock wave spread out.
A muffled thud sounded as if something invisible had been blasted away!
"There’s something behind us, Lin Xian!"
Lin Xian ran swiftly, but KIKI was clearly struggling to keep up. Unlike Lin Xian, KIKI’s superpower didn’t seem to enhance her physical abilities, not like Lin Xian who, after gaining attribute enhancements, possessed a stronger physique than normal people.

In an instant, a voice suddenly came from the front, sounding like a little girl’s, but hearing it made Lin Xian and KIKI’s hair stand on end.
Not just because the voice came out of nowhere—they could tell, the intonation of the voice was very unnatural.
It didn’t quite sound human.
"Be careful." Lin Xian, who was running ahead, reflexively pulled KIKI into a narrow passage beside the freezer room.
Something seemed to roll past the passage where they had just dodged.
The creepy voice sounded again, this time it was even deeper, as if trying hard to sound ’normal,’ but the more it did so, the more terrifying the voice became!
"Over there!" KIKI gasped urgently, pointing towards the entrance of the distant passage, the direction they had just come from.

Lin Xian’s first reaction: with this size, it’s definitely not a Zombie, nor likely a human ghost.
Lin Xian adjusted his breathing rapidly, pulling KIKI to speed through.
"It seems thing is following us."
"Quick, it’s just ahead," KIKI urged urgently.
The two rushed out of an area dedicated to genetic preservation, entering a corridor. However, at that moment, the eerie voice was heard once again.
The voice became piercingly sharp, deliberately mimicking that of a human.
Lin Xian followed the direction of the voice, looked back, and the beam of the tactical flashlight simultaneously shone on the glowing freezer door where the voice came from.
At that time, in that direction, a shadow shaped like a Human Skull appeared.
Rushing toward them, moving fast!
Lin Xian yanked KIKI forcefully behind him, Mechanical Heart working, quickly creating a steel frame barrier in the shape of a box, erecting it in the middle of the corridor, completely blocking the space.
The Human Skull shadow’s features were unclear as it collided head-on with the barrier Lin Xian created. The steel frame instantly deformed, sparks flew off the walls, the sudden obstruction hindered the dark creature, and just as Lin Xian prepared to escape during this brief respite, in the darkness, a blood-red flaming skull slowly started to light up.
The huge skull’s eyes and gaping mouth seemed to ignite flames. Suddenly, a red Human Skull figure over three meters tall and covered in bone spikes appeared in their line of sight.
A piercing roar tore through their eardrums, and a jet of white fire mixed with a wave of blood burst forth from the red Human Skull’s mouth, the scorching stench instantly engulfing the whole corridor.
Lin Xian’s expression steeled at the sight, immediately reacting.
The wave of flames instantly illuminated the entire corridor, KIKI leaned behind Lin Xian, also raising her hand to start defending with Telekinesis, an invisible force blocking the scorching breath, blood plasma staining the corridor red, creating a spraying area to both sides from where Lin Xian stood.
Lin Xian’s Ice Shield instantly vaporized, and even the steel walls behind it were heated to red-hot. Had it not been for KIKI’s intervention, the steel wall might have been melted through!

"Let’s go!" KIKI’s face turned anxious, reaching up, she grabbed a huge chandelier overhead and pulled it down fiercely.
The metal chandelier plummeted, smashing onto the blood-red skull, pinning the red Human Skull on Lin Xian’s steel barrier. The steel frame emitted a wailing bend as it collapsed with a crash, buried under the metal chandelier and a pile of steel frame.
Seizing this opportunity, Lin Xian pulled KIKI and dashed out of the corridor, the flashlight illuminating a narrow service passage ahead.
