The summer break was coming to an end, and Fang Jueyu was soon to face his final semester. Other students were starting to look for internships one by one, and even the expressions on the students on the street had become much more serious.
But this atmosphere didn't affect Fang Jueyu at all, because he didn't have any job-hunting pressures. He spent the last period of time in indulgence with Guo Xinyu every day. It had to be said, the energy of young people was truly abundant; the redwood bed at home almost fell apart because of them.
Wang Cong's Bamboo stream team had already started preparing for the singing contest. To prepare well for the competition and complete the song recording before the contest, she spent the last few days of the break at Xinyu Media's recording studio.
One day, Cheng Kai called Fang Jueyu.
"Hey, Mr. Fang? Got time today?"
"Cut it out, that 'Mr. Fang' is giving me goosebumps," Fang Jueyu rubbed his arm. "What's up? You need something?"
"Of course! You, the hands-off boss, have thrown all the company's matters at us. Do you know that the three of us have lost ten pounds each during this time?" Cheng Kai joked. In reality, their workload had been fulfilling recently.
"Here's the thing, our company is having an on-site recruitment fair at Jiangnan University today. If you're free, come take a look! As the real boss, wouldn't it be inappropriate not to show up?"
"Isn't this something you guys can handle yourselves?"
"No way, today's job fair isn't just about our company. Nowadays, the competition is fierce every year; genuine talents are scarcer. We have to seize them."
Although master's degree holders were everywhere and PhDs were as common as dirt, in Jiangnan City, if a billboard fell, it would crush a few master's and PhDs. In truth, people with real talent and capability were rare, and such talent was what companies valued the most.
"Alright then, I'll come take a look." Fang Jueyu didn't have any plans today; it'd be nice to experience the job fair's atmosphere, since he likely wouldn't experience the social beatings a fresh graduate faces.
"Young master, are you going to the Jiangnan University job fair?" Zhuang Ying, who was in the middle of helping Fang Jueyu with some national project matters, seemed to have overheard their conversation.
"I'm just going to take a look, what's wrong?" Fang Jueyu asked.
"Today, there are 407 companies at Jiangnan University's special recruitment fair. Do you know how many of them are yours or listed under other companies in your name?" Zhuang Ying said mysteriously.
"One hundred?" Fang Jueyu thought he was giving an exaggerated figure.
"There are 274 in total!" Zhuang Ying laughed. "Those companies almost all have your capital investment or a substantial share, so you really ought to check it out."
"That's just for today. Recently, Jiangnan University will have over a thousand companies doing campus recruitment, and more than half are related to you!"
"This is practically the old Fang Family recruiting an army!" Fang Jueyu sighed. "I have to go and keep an eye on things to make sure no bad apples slip into our companies."
Although school hadn't officially started, Jiangnan University's central square was already crowded with people. Students with backpacks and resumes were running back and forth in a hurry.
With over four hundred companies, each had a small booth. The big company booths had long queues, especially internet companies, which were the hot topic, proving the saying, "Every industry is turning to the internet," to be true.
Among these people, Fang Jueyu stood out like a sore thumb. Even under the scorching sun, most people were wearing business attire, while he was in shorts, a t-shirt, and sneakers.
Thunder Technology's booth was number eight. As a unicorn company in Jiangnan City, it was very popular this year. Jiangnan University even arranged a classroom for their company presentation, followed by the first preliminary interviews.
The booth was primarily for publicity. Fang Jueyu had seen several of the staff there at the company; the HRs were busy beyond measure.
"Not sure where those guys are." Fang Jueyu walked through the crowd. Cheng Kai and the others were practically company leaders. Usually, recruitment fairs would be handled by the HR department, but since it was their school, they were very attentive and were supposedly conducting interviews personally.
"Hey, can't you show some courtesy? Can't you see the line here?" A student holding a resume expressed dissatisfaction.
"Sorry, I'm looking for someone." Fang Jueyu thought he had squeezed someone.
"Aren't all of us here looking for someone? Look, everyone is in line while you just barge in," the student wouldn't let it slide. "Look at you, so casually dressed for a job hunt, without even a resume. You think you're the son of the company's owner?"
"I really am looking for someone!" Fang Jueyu laughed bitterly. "Can I squeeze through to ask an HR for someone?"
"How can you act ! There's a hundred people in line here. If everyone behaved like you, how would anyone find a job?"
"Yeah!" A few around agreed. The pressure of finding a job was significant, especially in this heat; everyone seemed to be in a foul mood.
"Ma Yihan!" Blocked outside the crowd, Fang Jueyu had to call out. Thankfully, his memory was decent, and he remembered the name of that female HR.
Giving a presentation to students, Ma Yihan heard her name being called. She looked up and saw a "refreshingly distinctive" figure in the crowd.
"This... Mr. Fang!" Ma Yihan had only seen Fang Jueyu once, but she'd remember her big boss clearly. Despite being a seasoned HR, she was just 25 and had swooned alongside many female colleagues when she first saw Fang Jueyu.
"Xiao Xu, you continue explaining to them, I've got something to do!" Ma Yihan quickly stood up. The students near the booth immediately made way for her.
"Mr. Fang, what brings you here!"
"Mr. Fang?" The students near Fang Jueyu were startled by this title.
"Oh, just came to see how things are. Where are Cheng Kai and the others?"
"Mr. Cheng and the others are in room 115 of the north building, number three. Need me to take you there?"
"No, I can go myself. I'm a student here too, I know my way! You guys are working hard in this heat. The heat subsidy this month will be issued as usual. I'll have it processed at ten times the normal rate." Fang Jueyu said.
"Thank you, Mr. Fang!" Ma Yihan was thrilled. Their new boss was so generous. Though the heat subsidy wasn't much, offering ten times was equivalent to half a month's salary!
Fang Jueyu left, leaving the students dumbfounded.
"Excuse me, who was that just now?" One student nervously asked.
"Oh, that's the largest shareholder of our company, or you could say the boss!"
"Boss?" Everyone shuddered. They had just mocked Fang Jueyu for thinking himself the boss. It turned out he really was the company's owner!
"It's over!" The earlier student turned pale, fearing their chances were dimmed after offending the company's boss just before their interview!
