America: Starting with Daily Intelligence Chapter 87

Allen Zhang added the fake ID dealer’s social media as a friend and paid a $100 deposit. The two reached a transaction agreement, and Allen was told to wait for notification, which would take about two to three days. Then they parted ways and left the #26 bus station. By the afternoon, Allen didn’t head straight back to the bridge encampment but chose to go to the Green Word Shelter to help Rena unload goods. The other shelter staff were on paid leave; only Rena was on duty. It would definitely take her half a day to unload the goods by herself. Helping others to the fullest, Allen decided not to charge this time as they were all part of the same community. Returning to the Green Word Shelter felt like coming home. A few charity organization trucks were parked roadside, with several drivers holding cups of coffee and milk tea, discussing the car accident on the freeway from the day before. Allen didn’t see the familiar face of the Caucasian driver from before, presumably one of the unfortunate drivers involved in that accident. Starting from around one in the afternoon, he helped unload goods until four. Without hourly wage, Allen didn’t work too hard, totally at ease. The truck drivers didn’t say anything, instead thinking this was normal work efficiency. After all, everyone is out here working; why put in extra unnecessary effort? They weren’t locals and had time to wander around instead, buying local specialties for their families. Unfortunately, the nearby major stores were mostly closed, and purchasing anything required a twenty-minute walk to another district. After they returned from shopping, the goods on the trucks were all unloaded, Rena signed for the delivery and sent the drivers off. "You did well, though it took a bit longer than last time, I’m still very satisfied, dear Mr. Allen, what reward would you like?" Rena asked, straddled on Allen, drawing circles on his chest with her finger. "I’d like to take a shower first. I’m all sweaty." Allen didn’t feel too tired this time, but wondered if Rena’s appetite was a bit too much. Didn’t I just feed you this morning? "I’ll prepare your clothes and test the water temperature," Rena said with a seductive smile, then got up and sashayed upstairs. Allen glanced at the time, only thinking of making it quick, not to waste too much energy. He sat in the chair, resting with his eyes closed for a few minutes, then heard Rena calling him. Allen leapt up, locked the doors and windows, and dashed upstairs, entering the second-floor bathroom to find it filled with steam; Rena had already adjusted the water temperature. Turning his head, he noticed various small toys placed on the counter, which he had no memory of from yesterday. Rena smiled slightly, "While you went out this morning, I also took a stroll in the supermarket nearby, bought some goodies, want to try them out?" She picked up a pink massager, pressed a button, and it buzzed to life. "Do I have the right to refuse?" Allen gasped. Unable to bear seeing her in pain, he closed the door and went to help her. Soon, the bathroom resonated with the theme song of a premium show. Around 6 PM, Dominic called Allen Zhang. Completely engrossed, Allen almost forgot what he needed to do, and casually answered the call. "Hey! Allen! Did you forget something? Why did a garage call me, telling me to pick up an RV and pay $460 in maintenance fees?" Dominic asked puzzled on the phone. Allen glanced at the time, had it already been several hours? He didn’t feel it at all. First-person perspective, immersive firearm control. He immediately responded, "I know, I’ll go to the store and pay for the vehicle right away." "You really bought an RV? When did this happen!?" Dominic was completely stunned. At first, he thought it was a scam call, but the caller accurately mentioned his personal information and his friends’ general appearances. If it weren’t for the fact that the caller said the RV belonged to an Asian, he would have hung up right away. "It just happened these past few days, it’s not a new RV, and I couldn’t afford that. I bought it from a shop that refurbishes old vehicles in the suburbs. You’ll understand when you see the actual condition of the RV." Allen Zhang explained, "Do you have time now, Dominic? If you do, you can wait for me at the store. You know my situation; driving in the downtown area is a bit risky." "Of course, I have time," Dominic readily agreed. "You have no idea how efficient we’ve become! Having a garbage truck makes everything so convenient. Just today we collected over four thousand cans! Along with the money Eddie and the others made from panhandling, and other valuable items we found, we made a total of 400 US Dollars!" "That’s really great news!" Allen Zhang’s excitement also surged. Rena covered her mouth, stifling herself from making any sound. "Are you taking a shower? Why do I hear the sound of water splashing?" Dominic asked suspiciously. "I’m still busy, buddy, I’ll come to you once I’m done. It won’t take much time." Allen Zhang freed up his hands and hung up the phone, going full throttle on two fronts. "Ok." Dominic, hearing the dial tone on the other end, felt bewildered. Sieg, chewing gum next to him, asked in confusion, "What’s going on? Did Allen really buy an RV? Does he have that kind of money?" "It’s him, but I’m still not sure about the condition of that RV. We’ll know once we go there and see it," Dominic answered. "You go ahead, I’ll pass. I reconnected with an old friend, and he said he could sell me some handy weapons at a low price." Sieg took out a free phone he got from Green Word Shelter and counted the Paper Currencies in his hands, which were mostly enough. After regaining his veteran status, his biggest advantage was being able to legally carry a gun. California has very strict gun control. Ordinary people can only acquire a gun license if they haven’t committed crimes, haven’t done drugs, haven’t committed domestic violence, don’t have mental illnesses, and have a Green Card and legal ID documents. But having a gun license is not the same as having a concealed carry permit. Ordinary citizens must keep their guns locked in home cabinets and must pass an assessment to apply for a CCW concealed carry permit, which is very difficult to obtain and virtually impossible for ordinary people. Coincidentally, Sieg had all the necessary documents; he had planned to work in security or open a gun store after retiring from the military, so all necessary documents were essential and now validated again. But even if it’s legal to carry a gun in public, it shouldn’t be used recklessly. If not necessary, Sieg wouldn’t carry a gun in public, just buying a few more to keep at home would suffice. When in trouble, the deterrent effect of not firing a gun can actually be greater. Following yesterday’s series of tense and thrilling security experiences, Sieg felt somewhat anxious. After all, he didn’t have the physical skills Allen Zhang possessed; he was barely sufficient against ordinary people, but what if he encountered an unpredictable person like Black? A standard Taser wouldn’t work on Black due to his physical condition; in such cases, having a few real guns would be necessary!
