Brando then took the card collection skeptically. As soon as his fingers touched the first card, some strange text appeared before his eyes—1400 reputation. He was slightly stunned. As he focused his attention, the text immediately became more elaborate:

1400 reputation? Brando almost threw the card collection away. When Char was still around, he could get 1 point of reputation daily from the Highland Followers card, but he had only accumulated 17 points in total. After the card went to the graveyard, the source was cut off—even robbing wouldn’t get him that much reputation. This card collection isn’t playing him, is it!
He looked at the oil-painting-style Platinum Angel without facial features and was momentarily at a loss for words. His eyes unconsciously drifted to the next card:

Brando barely resisted the urge to vomit blood; while he had a bit more wealth, 2000 wealth was like an astronomical figure for him. Hu Que didn’t bring these cards to give him internal stress, did he? These cards were incredibly powerful, but the price to pay for them was astronomical for him right now. He thought about it and realized he hadn’t offended this guy lately, and Hu Que didn’t seem to have a motive to do this. What could this mean? Couldn’t help but turn the pages forward, he found that the card qualities got lower gradually, but the costs became more bearable.
Holy Flame Lord, Time Reflection, Aoyna’s Judgment, Niya Lion…
Just roughly estimating, the whole collection had at least forty cards, with half being light and dark cards, a few red cards, and even land cards, though the payment methods varied. Some required reputation, some wealth, and some Travel Mage level—Brando directly ignored those since his Travel Mage level was still Level 1, and its progression didn’t seem tied to the experience system. He didn’t know how to level up that profession yet.
These were relatively normal, and some Brando hadn’t even heard of. For example, requiring specific resources, specific land cards, or even specific Boundaries, some required other profession levels—for example, the ‘Time Reflection’ card needed the owner to have at least Level 20 Wizard level to unlock. In general, there were all kinds of peculiar conditions.
Most of them Brando couldn’t meet for now.
He kept turning the pages until his eyes brightened gradually. Soon, he found at least two pages with ten cards he could fully afford to unlock, the Blood-colored Vanguard, Black Earth Lion, Light Hymn, Rochelle’s Market, Ruogen Swamp, Eternal Land, Lower Realm Sound, Kazan Master, Helar Guard, Holy Great Angel. However, out of these ten cards, he could only draw three after deducting the costs with his current strength.
So he had to make a choice—
Brando firstly needed the Dark Element land card, so he chose Ruogen Swamp without hesitation. But after paying 10 wealth for this card, he found that it was far from the mature Elf Secret Land—in fact, besides providing 1 point of free Dark Element each week, tapping Ruogen Swamp only yields 1 point of Dark Element. Compared to the latter, which provides 2 points of Natural Elements and 1 point of Water Element when tapped, the gap was huge.
At least it solved half of the Unicorn Knight card’s maintenance cost issue; now the remaining problem was wealth.
Thus, he chose the second card, Rochelle’s Market—this Special Land card provides 2 points of wealth and 1 point of Earth Element daily, and 6 points of wealth when tapped. The unlocking price of this Special Land card is double that of a Basic Land, requiring 20 wealth. After paying for this card, Brando had over ten points of wealth left. Although he could buy another Basic Land card, considering he still had to maintain Elf Girl Medisha on the field, he decided against it.
As for the third card, which he currently needed most, it was undoubtedly the Resurrection Card—Holy Great Angel.

This card requires 10 reputation to unlock, which doesn’t need him to pay anything further from his already dwindling treasury. However, what embarrassed Brando was that he currently had no Light Element land card or Light Element crystals. Thus, to pull Char or the Wind Spirit Spider from the graveyard was still a fantasy for now. He could only pat Hu Que’s shoulder and ask him to convey his message to Char to endure a bit longer in the graveyard.
But then he remembered a question. When he asked Hu Que how to fish cards from the graveyard, didn’t that guy swear any similar means only existed in Dark Element cards? Brando suspected this comparing glance at Hu Que, and unexpectedly, the experienced Mercenary Captain hesitated for a long while, then replied, actually, he was half-bluffing at the time.
Brando instantly teared up.
