Alpha's Regret Chapter 9

What was she going to do now? This had to be the worst day of her life. It was burdensome enough that she had to nurture her son all by herself. But a sack letter from her boss? She'd just been transferred from the frying to fire. Seeing that there was no hope for her, she got up from the bare ground and took her belongings. With sloped shoulder and a long face, she left the confectionery with the letter and a few hundred dollars as her last payment. She kept walking down the deep, lonely road to her house, thinking about the face she saw this morning. The last she heard about that stranger was that morning she saw him. It wasn't until two weeks later, she began feeling nausea and began vomiting. It was obvious she'd become pregnant. She went for a test, and it was confirmed positive. It was at that point that her whole life came crashing down. Her parents couldn't bear the shame of keeping a pregnant and unmarried eighteen years old, so they sent her away. She began living with Kayla, but it wasn't long before her tummy began protruding. She couldn't hide it anymore. People began talking. They began staring and pointing fingers. It was a taboo in the pack for a lady to get pregnant out of marriage, so she was instantly stigmatized. She kept thinking of getting abortion, but Kayla kept begging her not to consider it. She finally gave birth to the child, and he was the most beautiful gift she'd ever received. She hated the pregnancy. She hated the pains and the father. She hated the stigmatization that came with it. She hated how badly it changed her life for worse. But holding him in her hands changed her perspective immediately. She remembered the day like it was yesterday. Slowly, she began to not care about what people said about her. She focused and taking care of her son, and so she didn't bother going to college. She kept juggling jobs, trying to cater for him. She was managing just fine until he showed up in her life again. The rustling of leaves and a distant sounds of footsteps caused her to draw to a halt. She looked around, but she didn't see anyone behind her. She was the only one on the path, so if someone was behind her, she would know. Since she didn't see anyone on the road, she continued her journey. She heard the sounds again. This time, they sounded closer. She took a sharp turn, but she saw no one. Scared and confused, she increased her pace. She should've just taken a cab. She felt the presence of someone behind her, and she stopped walking. She turned, and she saw the silhouette of a tall figure under the street light. "Who... Who are you?", She questioned in fear. The figure gave no response, but began approaching her, slowly. "Stay away from me!! Who are you?!! What do you want from me?!! What-", she felt the person grab her hand and forced his other hand over her mouth. "Leave me alone, let me go!!", She muffled, struggling hard to get out of his grip. Out of frustration, the figure took the hoodie off his head, showing his face. "You," Amy muttered in shock, surprised to see Cole before her. "It's me," he replied. "Let go of me!!", She yelled and got herself off his grip immediately, her feeling of fear quickly replaced by pangs of irritation and anger. "We need to talk, I-" "I have nothing to say to you. There's nothing to talk about", she said and began walking her. Cole's grip dragged her a halt. The street lights were either dim or dying, it was obvious to Cole that she'd been crying. "What do you want from me?! You've taken everything - you turned my life upside down and seven years later, you want to talk? Everytime you show up, you ruin my life!! Let me go!!", She yanked her hands of his grip. "Isn't this too rude for just a one night stand?", He questioned, shocked by her harsh words. "Is that what you think happened? Well, if that is what it was, why are you dressed up like a thief in the name of trying to talk? Please, forget that you saw me today. Let us forget we ever crossed paths. You've been living fine without me, so keep on with it. I don't need you to worsen my life anymore than you've ruined it", she begged and began walking away. "Just listen-" "And don't you dare follow me!!", She yelled as she disappeared into the dark. Cole sighed in frustration. At least he knew one thing - she hated him. Seeing that he was left with no other option, he phone his friend, Liam. "What's going on, Cole?" "I need your help, and I need it badly," **** "Are you sure this is the house, Liam?", Cole asked him over the phone as sat in my car, staring at the lonely neighborhood from a distance. The houses there were modest, at best. "According to my findings, that is where she stays. I can't be wrong. Just have some patience", he said and Cole cut the call. Two days had passed since he last saw Amy, and he found it impossible to focus on work. He needed to see her again. He asked Liam to use his tech sorcery to search for where she lives, and the direction brought his here. Now, he was having second thoughts about it. He took Liam's advice and waited for some time for someone to come out of the house or enter. And so, ten minutes passed. Ten minutes turned into twenty, which spoon turned to thirty and Cole was already yawning loudly tiredly of the hopeless mission. "She probably isn't here", he concluded as he turned on the ignition. He stopped the car immediately when she saw movement at the door of the house he had his eyes on. He waited for a bit with a fresh feeling of alertness and hope and he saw someone come out. It was Amy, but she wasn't the only one. Following her out of the house was a little boy of about six years.
