Alpha's Regret Chapter 72

"What? I have a grandfather?" Tris asked in awe and Mr Darrel smiled. He was well pleased with Tris. From his expression down to his curiosity, there was no doubts in his mind that Tris was his grandson. "Yes, you do. I'm your daddy's father," Mr. Darrel replied. "Wait a minute," Tris said, squinting his eyes to look at him, and Mr. Darrel raised a brow. "My father never told me anything about you," "Now, did he?" Mr. Darrel wondered out loud and Tris shook his head. "I would be surprised if he had," he added with a chuckle. "Come, my boy, as the son of the most powerful pack, you shouldn't be seen standing here," "But, I'm waiting for the school bus. I have to go home," Tris said, looking towards the direction of the bus. "I'll take you home. I cannot allow my grandchild, the first living one for that matter take the bus. You're far more powerful than that, my boy," "My name is Tristan, Tris for short," Tris said, thinking that his grandfather didn't know his name. Mr. Darrel chuckled. "Of course I know that, my boy. I know a lot about my grandson," he replied. Mr. Darrel had done his findings already and that was how he got to know Tris's school. "Okay, Mr. Sir," Tris said. "Call me grandpapa," Mr. Darrel said, smiling. Tris hesitated, but seeing the smile on his grandfather's face, he resigned. "Okay, grandpapa," he replied and Mr. Darrel's face broke into a grin. "Shall we? I'll take you home," Grandpapa said and Tris nodded. Together, they walked towards the car leaving Tris friends who had been standing by the school door in awe. • Amy was washing the dishes when she heard the sounds of cars pull up in front of the house. She peeped from the window and saw an entourage of black cars. "What's going on?" She muttered. She had a puzzling look on her face. Just then, she saw a man in black suit open the car door and Tris stepped out. She immediately thought it was Cole who brought him. "Did I not warn Cole to stay away from Tris and I?" She said to herself as she picked up a napkin to wipe her hands clean. She walked out of the kitchen and stepped into the living room. She walked out of the house when Tris was close to the front door. "Momma!" He yelled excitedly, glad to see her in the house. "I've missed you so much," he said as he went into her outstretched arms. She laughed as she hugged him close. "I've missed you too, love. How was school today?" She asked. "The usual," he said with a shrug. Then his eyes lit. "Well, before I forget, grandpapa is in the car and wants to see you," Amy was confused. "Grandpapa? Who's grandpapa?" She asked, for she was sure she lost her dad nineteen years ago. Before Tris could answer, the man in suit, opened the car door and an elderly man with silver streaked gray hair stepped out. Amy couldn't help but stare at him. She wondered why he looked so much like someone she has seen before. "Daddy's father," Tris said and Amy's mouth went dry. "Alright, you can go in now and change. I'll join you in a few minutes," she said. " Alright," he replied and turned in the direction of Mr. Darrel. "Bye, grandpapa," he said. "Take care, my boy. I'll see you again, soon," Mr Darrel smiled as Tris left Amy and went inside. Amy's heart raced against her chest as she slowly stood up from her crouched position and came head to head with Cole's father. She feared him, for she had heard he was a dreaded alpha during his reign and he was one difficult man to please. His eyes accessed her and she couldn't tell if she was a no, a pass or worthy of his son. Shoot! Scratch that thought off your head, Amy, she scolded herself. You're done with his son. She reminded herself. "I would never have thought the moon goddess will make an omega my son's mate and make him settle for it," he said. His voice was cruel and at the same time, judging. Alright, that's a 'no' accessment he had done on her, she thought. "But, seeing that you are eye catching and the mother of my well trained grandson, I will not fight you or cause you trouble so you can stay away from my son," So, that's a pass? She wondered. Get yourself together, Amy. I don't care if I've got a pass to be with his son, I'm done with Cole. She thought. She cleared her throat. "There will be no need for that, sir. There's nothing going on between Cole and I. Whatever was is gone and dead," she said. Mr. Darrel scrutinized her. He could tell she was a fierce woman. A woman who was angry at her mate. This was the typical scenery he had seen in his years of living. It was an anger that would eventually simmer. "I will not interfere in the affairs of my son this time around. I believe he can fix anything going on. My reason for meeting you is to let you know that I cannot allow my grandson wander about like a commoner. He's the son of an alpha, grandson of a powerful pack. I want him to attend the best schools and attend them with elegant and style. Also," he continued as he looked around the environment. "My grandson cannot keep staying here like a common omega. I'll have him moved to the pack house," he literally gave orders. Amy was speechless, but she immediately straightened her shoulders. "I'm afraid, Mr Darrel, I cannot accept this. I will not be giving in to any of your demands," He narrowed his eyes. "They are orders," "That I'm afraid I cannot follow," "I'm not asking you, I'm telling you," he replied tenaciously. "And I'm telling you I won't follow," she said in the same steadfast tenacity as his. "Tris is my son and I would not appreciate it if you tell me what you think is good or right for him. I'm no longer with his father and I don't want to have anything to do with anything connected to him," She was stubborn, very stubborn and he could tell. "I'll give you this week to think about it," he said and turned away to leave. "My word still stands," she said and he continued walking. "And Mr Darrel?" She called and he paused at his car door and looked at her. "We're not a charity case," she said fiercely.
