"Is there anything I can get you madam?" Azure was a great nurse for Shelia but she was also a hindrance since she never let Sheila out of her sight, and it was very annoying to the assassin.
"I would love a glass of water." She makes a excuse and Azure runs to fetch it for her, once she was sure she was alone she pushes herself out of bed and into the passage. She watches her back and front to make sure no one saw her sneaking out of her room, she turned her head and saw some maids talking about the execution.
"And alpha Mace would be out of our lives forever, I'm sure the Queen won't spare his Betas." They gossip like they should but the death of Loki was still something that was haunting her conscience.
She places her hand on her stomach, her child would be an orphan.... no. What was she thinking? The child would probably be dead before Loki dies and she can start afresh. She would forget him eventually. Even though she didn't want to.
She runs into the kitchen to see a few maids, she composed herself and stands tall,
"What are you all cooking, I'm very hungry." She wasn't hungry at all but it was a good way to start the conversation,
"A lot, Queen Arcadia had told us to prepare every dish we know because there is going to be a big feast at the town tomorrow after alpha Mace's execution." One of them responds to her, "what may I do for you madam?"
"The palace is infested with rats, you all isn't do your job properly why we were away now they're rats crawling around in my room." She grumbles and they are all confused,
"But Madam, we have never had rats and we clean every day, we haven't see any rats in your room or anywhere." One maid states her concern but this only angered Sheila,
"Well I saw a big fat rat and if you want you can lick its ass when you see it for yourself!! Just give me poison and some food." She orders and they run to do her bidding, giving her a piece of meat and some at poison, "I hope it's strong?"
"The strongest we have." One answers her and she just leaves. Poison only had little effect on wolves from the rose clan, she would easily survive it but the baby won't get to see the next day as it was still very delicate. She sneaks to her room and locks the door behind her.
Not long Azure walks into the kitchen with a glass of water and a perplexed expression, "what is it Azure?" One of them asks the maid who looked like she had gone round the whole palace looking for a needle,
"I cannot find madam Sheila anywhere! She asked me to get water for her but she just disappeared from her room. The queen has asked me to make sure she is well rested since she isn't doing so well. But she just vanished!!" She cries to them and the goddess for help, Sheila would be the end of her job and the beginning of poverty for her.
"Madam Sheila? She came here not long ago, she complained that there were rats in her room." A maid goes back to her cooking while she spares Azure a glance,
"Rats?" It sounded so strange to her, "we have never had rats and I personally cleaned her room this morning, I didn't see any rat." She was genuinely confused but her brain began to pick up pretty fast as she realized that Sheila has not been herself lately, "did she ask for anything?"she hoped it wasn't so.
"Yes, some food and rat poison." They shrug their shoulders at her but the fear that washes over Azure was not from the planet. She never believed her legs would move that fast but they did, she reaches Sheila's room and it is locked,
"Madam please open the door!! Don't do this!!" She hits the wooden frame repeatedly but Sheila didn't answer her, "oh no!" She feared the worse had happened and she began to run the door with her shoulders, the pain stings her but she wouldn't stop, until the door finally gave way.
But the only thing she saw was her body on the ground, looking paler than ever. On instinct, a scream comes out from her mouth and it projects as Sonic waves. She is surprised she used her powers but that is not the main thing, it was how to save her.
She slings her fragile but heavy body over hers and rushes her to the doctor, hoping he could do something to help her and the baby before it was too late.
"What did she take?!" Conan had never seen someone so white, he actually believed she was dead because she was as white as a ghost,
"Rat poison, we need to neutralize it." She looks for whatever antidote he had in his drawers and she brings out all the bottle he had, "please we need to Save her at all cost!!" She had tears in her eyes as she did her best to read what was on the label of each bottle,
"Give them to me, give her mouth to mouth, and rub her feet." He collects the bottles from her and prepares an antidote while she did as he instructed her to,
"Please sister, wake up.... I'm begging you...." Azure pleads with her but it felt she was slipping away from her pretty fast, "doctor!! Doctor please do something!! She isn't waking up!" She rubs her hands faster to generate heat but it felt like her body only grew colder Jo matter how hard she tried, she had a feeling she didn't want to live anymore, "why is she not waking up? Poison shouldn't do this to her." She prayed to Artemis, "please, don't leave me."
"Open her mouth." He orders and she complied, he tips he mixture into her mouth and they make sure she swallows it. Only takes her a few minutes before she begins to cough and her eyes begin to twitch, she groans loudly and the look of relief on Azure's face was all levels of relaxing to Conan,
"Thank you so much doctor!!" She hugs the life out of him and he is embarrassed, it was the first time a girl had ever hugged him this hard, they were always hugging Asher and leaving him to brood in jealousy.
"It's okay Azure, I wouldn't be a doctor if I didn't offer my medical assistance." He pushes it aside, "but I don't understand why she would drunk poison, I still need to do a check up on her." The sound of a check up knew that the news of her pregnancy would spread like wild fire,
"I would love to learn under you." She blurts out quickly, not thinking the words through and this surprises Conan even more,
"Under me? You would want to learn from me?" He didn't believe it but she nods in approval, Sheila coughs loudly as her eyes began to open,
"Learn from him and become the world's greatest idiot." She coughs once more and Conan felt offended, but her nurse was happy that she was alive and dealing her usual dose of insults.
"I saved your life and this is how you repay me, thanks a lot Sheila." He smiles caustically before turning to his desk,
"Did I ask you to save me?!" She barks at him and he turns back with hard eyes,
"What is wrong with you?" He threw the question at her to insult her and get an answer at the same time, "why would you just want to die that way?!" He hated it when life was being wasted, he hated suicide.
She was quiet for a while before opening her mouth to speak but no words came out, "as I expected." He turns back to his desk clearly upset with how she could have been so weak, "I don't know what is wrong with you but please don't ever do this again or you would not hear the end of it from me. What would I say to the Queen if you had died? That you attempted suicide?!"
"You don't understand anything!!" She coughs violently and patches of blood stains her lips, she feels a twisted delight but Azure is scared to death,
"Doctor please! She needs more medicine." She wanted to save the child while Sheila wanted it to die,
"I'm fine, I do not need anything else. Leave me alone!" She takes her frustration out on her nurse and it makes her feel bad,
"Why are you doing this to yourself?" Her heart was aching,
"I already said I do not want the baby!! Would you take it when it is born?!!" She screams in her anger and a glass shattering noise is heard, their eyes trace Conan and he had his mouth hanging in the air,
"What baby ate we talking about? Sheila are you pregnant?" His eyes bulge out from their sockets and she feels the shame wash over her, she covers her eyes and begins to sob, Azure embraces her and the doctor know he had overreacted, "now Sheila don't take it that way, I'm sorry," he whispers to her as he rubbed her shoulders to get her to stop crying.
"I have betrayed our Queen, I was blinded by love but that same love almost made my demise." She sniffs back the tears but they wouldn't stop flowing.
"Sheila, who owns this baby? You know you can tell me anything, who is the father?" He pesters her and he is breaking, "tell me Sheila!!"
