"Okay, let's go talk to him," I told Rachel and walked over to where he was standing. If it wasn't for an enemy pack surrounding me with their fangs and claws, I'd have pushed the woman away from Luke and kicked his butt.
But why? Didn't I just tell him I hated him? He's free to do whatever with whoever, as long as he doesn't bother me. Can't survive without lying to myself. I stopped about a foot away from him, not wanting to confront him anymore.
Rachel must have thought I was near-sighted and couldn't see the woman until I walked close to them. This clingy woman who wrapped herself around him like some parasitic vine wore a red dress with such a low cut and showed her ample cleavage to him.
"What's there to see anymore? She left nothing to the imagination." I was bubbling with rage and jealousy.
"That's nothing, Riley. It's not his fault if she wants to seduce him. He's not going to sleep with her." His little sister was would defend him to the hilt on everything of course.
"He's already eye-fucking her."
Luke heard us and spared one look at me before giving all his attention back to the woman who was throwing herself at him. I was very close to bursting into tears while Rachel went and said something to him.
I couldn't hear what they were talking about, but he left with the woman after that. Rachel returned, looking sorry for me.
I don't care. I really, really don't care. The more he acts like this, the better for me. Easy to get over and easier to make him suffer. My stupid heart wanted to jump out of the ribcage because I wasn't allowing it to cry freely.
"Don't know what's wrong with him. I'm sorry." Rachel offered me a side hug. No matter how unaffected I projected myself to be, she was looking at me like I lost a million dollars.
"It's okay. I'm not really into him. It's just that he looks very good." I turned my face away to hide the tears that were threatening to fall.
"He also denied liking you just now. Not sure if I heard him right the first time. I'm sorry again."
"I think I'm coming down with something." I coughed a bit and wrapped my arms around my shoulders. It did feel a little chilly already. "I'll head back to my room if you don't mind."
"Okay. Would you like to come down and eat breakfast with me tomorrow?"
I loved to be left alone. I was what the humans would call an introvert. Almost everyone back home wants to venture out alone or in pairs at the most. Three is a party and we moody, manipulative creatures don't like to party. The quiet stillness of the night is divine and we love it.
I was suddenly homesick. The home that was far, far away. I wondered what Maya was doing right now. Luke's touch and the comfort in his arms were the only thing here that made me forget my folks.
Why am I thinking about him again?
"Riley!" Rachel shook my brooding self.
"Oh, sorry..." I don't want to become friends with such a sweet girl and regret harming her later.
"You can stay mad at my brother. But don't shoo me away. There will be some healthy food at the breakfast table too, not just fattening desserts you know."
"How can I say no to someone so adorable? Sure!"
"All right!" She gave me another side hug. "You can let Ren know whenever you wake up tomorrow. I don't have any classes until 10.30."
She let me return after that. I found the bodyguards enjoying their beer, but they all followed me when I walked past them. They showed me where the wet nurse stayed, and I found Ren also with her.
Ari was having a good time with them. Ren offered me some hot chocolate, which soothed both my throat and frayed nerves. I barely spent some thirty minutes with them, knowing more about their lives and if they really liked their alpha. Luke went nuts meanwhile.
"Where the hell have you all been? Aren't you supposed to link me if you aren't taking her straight to her room?" He was waiting by my door and yelled at the bodyguards who seemed to fear him a lot more than necessary.
Strange to watch four supermasculine guys cowering in panic as if he was going to chew their heads off. They scurried to their places near the door and opened it for us to walk in.
"Where do you think you are going?" I stopped him from walking further into my room.
Looks like my baby was being overly friendly with this asshole. She extended her arms and cooed in delight. A small, sensuous smile played on his lips when I frowned at Ari. I ignored him and walked quickly to the crib and put her down.
"Did you forget he yelled at you only this morning? He's a bad guy!" She seemed to laugh at me. And so did the bad guy standing behind me. He wrapped his arms around my shoulders while I was still leaning over Ari. I was shocked at the way my body responded to him, so beyond redemption.
"The bad guy wants to do some bad things to your mom, Ari. So you better go to sleep!" He pressed his lips against my bare shoulder and grazed his fingers over my halter neck knot.
"Take your filthy hands off me and go back to that fat-assed woman of yours. She was wearing your favorite shade of red for you obviously."
"Trust me when I say I'd never do anything to hurt you, even for fun. But I can't push every woman away and act like I'm in a committed relationship while my folks are watching my moves."
It's not like I wanted to feel hurt or jealous. If it was up to me, hatred was all I wanted to feed on. When Vance rejected Maya, she was pissed and still felt attracted to him because he was hot, but she couldn't feel the pain or that irresistible longing and stupidity that came with the mate bond.
"If you really want to spare me all that hurt, why don't you reject me?" Unfortunately, it wasn't up to me to reject him, but he could and should.
His body stiffened up, and he stopped kissing the curve of my neck. I could now think much better and say everything I wanted to. All that severe teasing with his mouth had my core throbbing.
"You would have rejected me anyway before mating with your Adalyn, weren't you? Or were you prepared to put me through a lot more pain so that you could do some solid two-timing? Just reject me now and do whatever. Treat yourself to some sex party for all I care."
His grip around me tightened as he slid his arm down to my waist and picked me up. Slamming me into the bed face down, he pushed himself on me before I could turn around and kick him off.
"My wolf is so mad at you right now he wants me to fuck you hard and not stop until you are shaking." He pushed my face into the pillow roughly and grabbed my breasts.
I whimpered in pain as his teeth sank into my skin. He didn't stop with just one bite and probably wanted to tear my back to pieces. I buried my face in the pillow as his rock hard manliness grinded against me and my hips arched towards him without my control.
