Chapter 36: Chapter 36: First Entry into the City
Mother Xia’s eyes immediately reddened again, and Third Aunt Xia glanced at Xia Chuyi but said nothing.
It was evident that Third Aunt Xia knew about the matter. However, she did not care at all about her daughter’s marriage involving neither her efforts nor her money.
Even seeing the misfortune of the second house, there was a twisted comfort in their hearts.

Everyone knew Third Aunt Xia couldn’t be driven to talk sensible, asking her was fruitless; filled with excitement, Aunt Xia grabbed Mother Xia.

“Mom, the water is ready, I’m going back to my room; you have a good chat with elder aunt.” Xia Chuyi said, carrying a kettle, waving her hand, and stylishly leaving the kitchen.
At the doorstep, she turned to look back at the kitchen, a smile curling on her lips.
Let the storm come even more fiercely.
A storm was brewing in the Xia family’s kitchen, while Xia Chuyi, having finished grooming, was preparing to leave home.
When she reached the doorstep of the third house, the door creaked open right in front of her.
Xia Lan was holding a letter; seeing her, she feigned surprise, “Oh, Chuyi, what a coincidence! Are you also going to Brother Qing’s home?”
Xia Lan shook the letter in her hand.
“Why don’t we go together? I have Brother Qing’s letter; it’ll make things easier for you to talk.”
Xia Chuyi looked at Xia Lan with a half-smile.
“Talk about what? Cancelling the engagement? How can our family’s young lady go directly to deal with such things? Have you no shame?” She finished, rolling her eyes at Xia Lan.
Her blunt words choked Xia Lan.
“Well, the elders are discussing this matter in the kitchen right now. You might want to listen to see how they’ll resolve it,” Xia Chuyi pointed towards the kitchen, “But let me remind you, although my engagement is called off, your marriage isn’t necessarily guaranteed.”
“What do you mean?” Xia Lan looked at her warily.
Xia Chuyi spread her hands, “Exactly what it sounds like. I won’t discuss it further; I have other things to handle.”
She swung her hand and directly left the third house, no longer concerning herself with the impending storm at the Xia family.
In Heshan Village, there was only one bus to the city each day, leaving at dawn and returning in the afternoon.
Xia Chuyi did not plan to take the bus.
The geographical location of Heshan Village was rather unique; though it was a village, it wasn’t far from the town center. There was a trail that took just over an hour to reach the town, actually faster than taking a detour through the bus route.
But in the dead of winter, few chose to walk.
Xia Chuyi, with space in hand, wearing a specially made backpack, walked at an unhurried pace along the narrow mountain path.
Speaking of the space, within just a few days, there had been several changes; the seeds she sprinkled had all sprouted.
After observing for a couple of days and according to the records in the Heavenly Book, she confirmed that the plants in the space would generally mature in about a week, then stay at their optimal state indefinitely.
This function of the resting soil was simply too good for her.
