Chapter 1890: Elder Pondwyn II
The eyes peeking out of the swamp did not move for a long time, waiting for well over ten minutes.
Grey, who was waiting by the side was quickly bored, if not for the fact that he did not know the strength of the perpetrator, he would have attacked by now. He contacted Sir Astarot, telling him to come capture the owner of the eyes.

Grey’s eyes followed the figure, catching sight of the just over fifteen inches long Toad. Of all the Toads Grey has seen in the Inner Court, this was by far the smallest one he has ever seen. The size of this Toad was not the only difference it had compared to other Toads, the color of its skin is also very eye-catching. It had a variety of colors, giving it a captivating look.
The small colorful Toad did not waste any time staying out, disappearing from view as soon as it came out of the swamp.
The short time the Toad came out, Grey confirmed its cultivation stage. It was equal to a Ninth stage Sovereign Elementalist. Grey did not have any problems with dealing with Ninth stage Sovereigns, so without hesitation, he charged straight at the Toad. Rushing after it so it would not be able to escape. He could already speculate that this Toad was most likely Elder Pondwyn given the similarities in their cultivation stages. Of course, the link connecting it to the Toad Corpse Puppet was the telling factor.
It only took a few seconds for Grey to intercept the colorful Toad’s path.
The Toad did not expect a human to block its path, but the second it saw Grey, a look of realization appeared in its eyes. Even though it was faint, Grey still caught sight of it.
“Looks like you recognize me.” Grey did not find it surprising that the Toad recognized him. As long as the Toad was the one who controlled the Toad Corspe Puppet, then it would definitely recognize him.
“You’re the human they are searching for.” The Toad opened its mouth to speak, and its voice was not as deep or as grating as the Toad Clan Leader, rather, it was like that of a ten years old boy.
Grey was surprised by the Toad’s voice, but that was all. This was not his first encounter with Magical Beasts, so he knew their voices did not determine their age. Take Void and the Bunny Leader for instance, the Bunny Leader had a very small voice, akin to that of a child, while it was an old existence. Void, on the other hand, had a more masculine voice, but he was a lot younger than the Bunny Leader.
“I am.” Grey nodded, not denying the Toad’s words, he looked at it with curiosity and asked, “Since when did a Magical Beast start using necromancy?”
Although necromancy was an act frowned upon, it still required special conditions for one to practice it, conditions most Magical Beasts did not qualify for. So seeing a Magical Beast be able to control another dead Magical Beast took Grey by surprise. He was more curious as to how the Toad managed to learn necromancy than its attempt of killing him.
“Huh? No wonder they wanted you.” The small Toad exclaimed as it stared at Grey, even its eyes expanded. Before Grey could say a word, it licked its lips and said, “If you had stayed with them, you would have at least kept your life.”
The Toad opened its mouth, and its tongue shot out at breakneck speed.
Grey did not expect the Toad to attack, but he was already prepared for something . His figure merged with the void, fading away just as the Toad’s tongue was about to hit him.
The Toad was caught unaware by Grey’s ability, and it hurriedly withdrew its tongue. Just as it was about to continue its attack, it sensed the aura of Sir Astarot and the others fast approaching.
“You’re lucky.” Dropping this statement, it turned around, hoping to leave. It did not want to hang around and wait to be caught by its Clan Leader.
“Who said you could leave?” Grey’s voice sounded like that of the grim reaper in the ears of the Toad, and its path was once again blocked by Grey who appeared all of a sudden.
“The space element!” This time, the shock in the voice of the Toad was quite apparent.
Grey did not try to attack, he could tell that this Toad is stronger than a regular Ninth stage Sovereign. He did not have the ability to defeat a Magical Beast as powerful as this Toad, but keeping him from escaping was an easy task.
The Toad looked behind, its face showed signs of agitation, and it unleashed its full strength. The time to admire the space element was not something it had at the moment. Using its full strength, the power it displayed was equal to most Peak Sovereigns.
Grey knew he could not take on such an attack, so he tossed out the last fusion orbs he had with it before it dissipated, before locking onto the aura of the Toad.
The Toad did not stand by after releasing the first attack, it escaped immediately after.
Grey was already locked onto the Toad, so he sensed it the moment it tried to escape. After tossing out the fusion orb, he rushed to block the path of the Toad. Knowing there was no way to escape without dealing with Grey, the Toad went all-out, using one powerful move after another. Grey did not panic in the presence of these attacks, evading the ones he could while blocking the ones he could not dodge. In the space of a few seconds, they exchanged hundreds of moves with Grey being at the disadvantage. But Grey did not mind, he did not need to win, all he needed to do was stall it.
