Affinity: Chaos Chapter 1864

Chapter 1864: How Can This Be Possible? “You’re right, it’s not just a movement technique, it’s much more than that.” Grey nodded as he replied to the Old man’s question. He knew he could not tell the Old man about the details of it being an element, but there was no harm in letting him know it was not a movement technique, especially given that he had already figured it out on his own. “I see.” The Old man squinted his eyes, staring at Grey, he added, “I can tell you have no plans of telling me more about this, but no worries, you will eventually.” Grey chuckled when he heard this, his eyes turned cold as he said, “You people truly are unsalvageable. So just because you want it, I have no other choice but to accept it?” The Old man nodded, seeing nothing wrong with his thought process. Yes, this might look wrong to a lot of people, but in their world where power reigns supreme, most people do not care about right or wrong with the general populace, they only care if it’s right or wrong for them at the time of their actions. Had the Old man been the one in Grey’s position, he would naturally not see anything right with what’s happening right now. Seeing the Old man’s casual reaction, Grey knew there was no point reasoning with them. To be honest, he never really had the intention of making the Old man see reason. The Old man coming here in the first place already proved that he did not see anything wrong with them hunting Grey down. His motive of speaking with the Old man was for him to catch his breath, and the Old man being wary of his space domain gave him that chance. Unfortunately, it could only act as a deterrent to the Old man for only a short time. After getting his answer, the Old man stretched his hand into the area Grey’s domain was active, seemingly trying to feel whatever this odd energy was. Grey attacked seeing this, there was no need wasting any more time talking. The target of Grey’s attack was not the Old man, rather, his figure shot straight for the group from the Twilight Faction who were watching the battle from the side. The Old man did not expect Grey to try to attack these people, but he reacted accordingly, “This is only a waste of our time. Come back with me and I can promise you your life.” While saying this, the Old man had already closed the distance of about a kilometer or so, standing in front of the group as he blocked the attack Grey sent their way. “Give up, this is just a fruitless effort.” The Old man looked at Grey as he said after easily dealing with the next attack Grey sent their way. He felt this was an act of desperation from Grey. Grey had decided not to speak with the Old man any further, he wanted to at least kill a few people present before leaving, and his target was none other than Young Master Idris. Over the past few months, he had avoided killing anyone of significant importance from the Twilight Faction in hopes that they would eventually stop hunting him. Even with doing all this, the Twilight Faction were still adamantly chasing him. Since this was the case, he did not mind making them feel a sense of loss. The few Ninth stage Sovereigns they’ve lost did not seem to worry them. Considering that they did not seem to care about the lives of these people, then he did not mind killing someone of importance. The Old man still had a casual expression on when his face suddenly turned sour as he was almost overwhelmed by shock, luckily he reacted in time. For the first time, the Old man found it hard to keep himself in control. The reason for this was simple, Grey feinted like he wanted to attack those behind him, and just as the Old man was about to protect them, he turned the attack in his direction. Although he was able to deal with it, Grey used the opportunity to launch another sneak attack with inscriptions that suddenly appeared behind the group he was protecting. The Old man sensed the array almost immediately it finished forming, the case was not the same for the others. They were weaker and their senses are naturally not as sharp as the Old man, so it was only after an attack had been unleashed did they notice it. None of them expected an attack to come from behind them, and the first thought in their heads was if Grey had a helper. The two Ninth stage Sovereigns worked together to block the attack from the inscription. But that was not the problem, just as they were dealing with the attack, another attack came from both their left and right. It was impossible to fight back against such attacks, and sensing the strength of it, they knew they would not be able to deal with all the attacks simultaneously. Knowing this, they felt a sense of dread. “Humph!” The Old man snorted coldly and a round disk appeared on his hand, making a few hand seals. The disk rotated rapidly before a sphere spread out from the disk and covered everyone from the Twilight Faction. Grey’s attacks struck immediately as the sphere covered them. And to the relief of those hiding in the sphere, none of Grey’s attacks managed to break through the sphere. Young Master Idris was the one who felt the biggest relief, this was because he sensed the greatest threat from Grey’s attacks, it was almost as if they were aimed to take his life. And knowing his strength, he was certain he would die if he was struck by any of the attacks. Grey expected the Old man to be able to deal with those attacks, but his aim had been achieved. With the Old man protecting the eight from the Twilight Faction, he would not be able to fully fight him. Like Grey, the Old man also realized this problem. “I’ll draw him away, you guys leave this place the first chance you get.” The Old man ordered before taking the initiative to attack. The Old man, who was already on the verge of attacking Grey, paused when he noticed the latter giving him an odd smile. The smile sent chills down his spine, and subconsciously, he paused. The pause was only for a split second, and his attack was released almost immediately. The attack was about to hit Grey, and something strange happened. Grey did not try to blood the attack like he has been doing all this while, nor did he try to dodge the attack, rather, he stood there with a smile on his face. His strange action took the Old man by surprise, but the attack was already on its way and there was no way to stop it. Even if he could, the Old man’s curiosity made him want to see the reason behind Grey’s suicidal actions. He got the answer just when the attack was about to hit Grey. “That’s…” He opened his mouth but the attack had already struck. His eyes were wide open as he turned to look behind him. The second he turned around, his face turned ashen by what he saw. Right behind him, protected safely by the energy sphere the disk created was none other than Grey. He was standing in the middle of the two Ninth stage Sovereigns with an evil smile on his face. Before the Old man could even say a word, he noticed that both of Grey’s fists plunged through the backs of the two Ninth stage Sovereigns, appearing on the other side of their check. ‘What’s going on?’ The Old man did not understand how Grey suddenly appeared behind the two Ninth stage Sovereigns, not just that, but the Old man was a hundred percent certain that the person his attack hit was not Grey, but his grandson. Looking at those standing in the group of eight, he realized that his grandson was no longer present, in fact, if his memory served him right, then Grey was standing at the exact place his grandson should be standing. The Old man found it hard to believe what he was witnessing. Grey was standing in front of him a second ago, but now he was standing in the position of his grandson while his grandson is nowhere to be found. Turning back to the figure that was struck by his attack, he almost collapsed. There was barely anything left from the figure, but he recognized the shoe that was left from the attack. This was his grandson’s shoe, but he did not understand how he appeared in Grey’s position in the end. ‘How can something be possible?’ The Old man was having an internal crisis at the moment, trying to figure out what just happened.
